Clean rooms, nice staff. Coffee at breakfast was so weak it was awful. Otherwise a decent place to stop for a night while on the road!

Hallways had a moldy type smell. Our room initially looked good but the sheets on one of the beds was dirty and the toilet did not look like it had been cleaned. We got in exceptionally late and we were too tired to go down to ask for a new room. We had our own blankets with us so just slept on those. read more

Sleep Inn-older hotel that could use updating but common area and our room was clean. Hot water with great pressure in shower. Our room was huge. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was on par for Choice hotels-complete with the Texas shaped waffle. Everyone we encountered was very kind. I have family in Shamrock so I have stayed here 8-10 nights a year for easily 10 years. It's consistently been clean, well maintained and managed to a high standard. Showers are good with lots of hot water, rooms have microwaves and mini fridges. They have the small coffee makers with packets coffee in a self contained filter. It recently changed owners and the new owners have been making small but noticeable changes. The room I stayed in now has vinyl plank floors, overall much cleaner and cooler than the old carpet. West Texas has tons of dust and carpet is a magnet for it. Breakfast is noticeably better- the usual instant oatmeal, pastries, cereal etc augmented with nicely done breakfast potatoes, good biscuits, sausage patties and decent gravy. The lady who tends to the breakfast area keeps it spotless. The staff is attentive and friendly. I've been working with Mayra, the night front desk clerk for many years and she is one of those people who makes a positive difference. The breakfast buffet could use some bananas and I like my coffee stronger, but the breakfast is free, so those are just details. read more

Based on the ratings i saw, I booked this hotel for one night. I'm not sure why this place gets such great ratings. Upon entering this hotel it smelled of mold. The lobby was humid and stuffy. The guest check in went smoothly as we requested a first floor room since we had our dog. The first room we were given was flooded. We got a another room on the first floor and again this room was flooded. The hotel clerk told us that they had a storm the night before. No apology for the inconvenience. Not sure why these rooms would be flooded because of a storm. He then gave us a second floor room. The rooms do have all vinyl flooring which is great since my dog likes to spill his water. It also gives you a more clean feeling. (no fleas or ticks) The air conditioning was cold but musty. The next morning I had some congestion from the moldy air that was pushed through the room. The bed was very comfy but the rooms are extremely dated. The free breakfast was okay. It was free. Hotel needs improvements. Broken exterior lights, and broken window screens. If you have a dog the grassy areas are abundant but need mowed and cleaned up. We had a return stay in Shamrock and we chose a different hotel to spend the night. read more

We arrived to see a grand stair case in the lobby. Color decor was like going back into the 70's with the greens. Room was very large and clean. AC was set to 66 but sweat all night long. Beds were ok Breakfast did not have much to choose from. read more

The king size room is huge, and the bed nice and comfy. It's far enough off the freeway so that highway noise shouldn't be an issue. The lady who checked me in gave me the seniors rate without being asked. It's the first time it's ever happened before, so I don't know if I should be insulted or thank her. Nice place, but prices are all over the place. Different websites charge so many fees. Our son ended up paying $60 more for the same type of room. They wouldn't give him back the difference. It's unfair to charge different prices for the same night and same room style, but I guess that's every hotel. I haven't seen that big of a price difference, though. read more

I stood in line and watched the front desk clerk check in 4 people quickly and without any questions asked. For me, she asked me repeatedly whether I had any pets, at least 3 times, and then asked 3 times how many people I had with me. All of this information was in my reservation. I had a room with 3 people in it that had an occupancy of 6. I was given 3 bath towels that are the size of hand towels. I went back down and asked for some more towels and the employee gave me a dirty look and asked why I needed more towels, why the number I was given wasn't enough. She then asked me 2 more times how many people were in my room. She asked me several times to justify why I should need so many bath towels. Then while walking to the closet to get the towels, she continued complaining about my need for more towels, saying what if they run out and would not be fair to other guests. My room had a bad smell and the beds didn't seem to be queen bed. They looked more like a full or something between a full and queen. The room was facing the front of the hotel, which had a flood-light brighter than the sun pointing directly at in my window. Closing the curtain all the way only partly blocked it. I had a hard time sleeping in a brightly lit room. The next morning, I went downstairs to check on the "free breakfast" that we were told about. Turns out that was a lie. They have coffee and drinks only. read more

The trend at these Choice hotels lately has been to move away from real coffee and instead provide on-demand coffee machines that use pre-made concentrate. It's utterly undrinkable and fools no one. Since this hotel now has the faux coffee, and there are no vegan offerings at the buffet, the complementary breakfast has nothing of interest for me. On the plus side, the hotel is clean, the rooms nice, and the location outstanding. I'll come back next time I'm in town, but I wouldn't recommend this property for anyone counting on having the breakfast. read more

I was skeptical and have to admit I am a hotel snob as I travel a lot for work. I was utterly impressed. At 1/3 the cost of other chain hotels, this place held its own. My room was spacious, clean and updated. Other parts of the hotel could use upgrades but what a nice find for a overnight stay while on the road. read more

The motel was ok, the check in with Myra was great. that was until I was coming down the stairs and heard a loud lady with 2 little girls yelling black girl and speaking another language! I thought I was going crazy but she yelled it again black girl, not sure if she was trying to get the front desk ladies attention, but Im thankful she didnt answer to it. come to find out it was the new owners mother!! OMG what a fantastic place to stay!! Pet friendly but you wouldn't know pets have ever been there. I have been staying in La Quinta is all the way across the United States it used to be my go to place I've changed my mind a little gold mine out in Shamrock Texas everyone is so friendly the rooms are immaculate you've got great channels to watch TV The beds are so comfortable Nice soft towels for your shower I can't say enough nice things about this place and absolutely reasonably priced thank you very much sleep inn and suites we will be back!! read more

First at all this lady in the evening need to know how to he friendly with the customer!!!! Second this place isss tooooo expensive for what they offer!! Don't expect to have a simply bottle of water in your room $89 the night just for sleep!!!! That's a joke!!!! We were driven on a semi truck for 3 days and need some rest we tought this place would be good but don't waste you money in here they said they offer a breakfast but you need to wake up before 9 am no matter how you feel because after that time there's nothing !!!!!!! I recently stayed here. I wasn't planning on stopping in Shamrock but did after driving through inclement weather. I'm glad that I did. The room is a great sized suite. A nice and comfortable king size bed. Flat screen tv, microwave, and fridge. A pool and hot tub. Breakfast is included as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. A great deal for $84! We checked in on the 19th and the woman working at the desk was lovely. Quick fast check in and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The hotel was also pretty quiet compared to a lot of the other hotels along the way during our trip. read more

Over priced for what you get. Ok they have made some effort to update with paint, but it was the amenities that were subpar along with the problem carpeting. The carpet was wet, in every corner of the room which I believe was a humidity problem, which ultimately leads to mold which may have been why my feet turned black walking barefoot on the carpet. So after my feet were washed I had to constantly wear my shoes. I believe this to probably be a health hazard. Changing rooms wasn't an option because I don't think they had more and chances are other rooms had the same issue. As for amenities, only 2 large towels and a non working hair dryer, as well as no glasses in the bathroom. Nice toiletries though. If you want more than the network channels on the television keep going though all the infomercial channels until you get to the 200's to find a few extra you might like. Final thought, even in a small town, a chain like Choice Hotels which is the parent of this Sleep Inn should offer better to its clientele. read more

This is a pretty nice hotel if you are driving on I-40. The room was nice and clean. The design was modern and the pool looked nice. The free breakfast is not great unless you want to grab a bowl of cereal or a muffin. Overall, good experience and would recommend passing Amarillo and stopping here. read more

Excellent stop only one block off of I40. Super big, clean rooms. Breakfast was standard for this level hotel, which is to say quite adequate with eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, good selection of cereals and pastries, and of course the Texas waffle. As a side note, there's a good sized gravel lot for truck parking across the street. I showed up after dark with a trailer and I wish I would have seen it rather than trying to shoehorn myself into the very full parking lot. read more

Best--and probably newest--hotel in Shamrock as of this writing. I was initially a bit worried to discover a bunch of bros grilling burgers in the parking lot upon my arrival. Would this be some kind of loud party hotel? As it turns out, I had nothing to worry about. Front desk staff were friendly and my internet reservation was honored quickly and without hassle. Good sized, quiet room. Bathroom was large and was clean, with the exception of one kind of scary stain in the shower. Strong wi-fi signal in our room. I left before breakfast. I've stayed at a few hotels in Shamrock. After staying here, I can't see staying anywhere else. read more

Clean hotel, nice room, friendly staff. Driving west on I-40, we were originally going to stop in Elk City, OK to catch some zzzz. Thank you fellow yelpers, so many hotels had REALLY bad reviews. Those that didn't were booked. So, we kept on driving, and so happy that we did. The Sleep Inn was clean. Really clean, like I didn't mind walking barefoot on the carpet. I have found this to be a rarity in most roadside hotels. The breakfast was your typical free breakfast, complete with a belgium waffle. The coffee was good, and that is always a plus. Their parking lot is fully lit, so no worries on the car. If you happen to be driving through the Texas panhandle, this is a good place to stop and rest your head. Also, if you drive down the street, you can see the U-drop Inn, which is historic and apparently seen in the movie Cars. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel! It was immaculate, the desk clerk was great, and the room was a dream (and huge!). The beds were new and comfortable. Lots of pillows, too. One reviewer said it was so clean she felt comfortable walking barefooted, and I concur. Heck, my kids were rolling around all over the place after 9 hours in the car, and I wasnt worried at all. The pool/hot tub was great, and breakfast was nice, even though I thought it ended a bit early at 9 am. We came in from the pool at 10 after, and the desk clerk let us grab breakfast even though they were cleaning it up. Would highly recommend this hotel! read more

Great ROOM! We were driving cross country and were very tired and at 1a.m. we needed to crash. Feeling like we were in the middle of no where, we were very skeptic about finding a nice place, especially at this time of night. Well not only did this place that we found have rooms available, but the staff was very nice. Gave us a military discount, and a free late check out since we checked in late, that way we could sleep in a little more. We walked into the room, which by the way was at a great price of less then $80, it was HUGE! very welcoming room and bed, ample space with the room to relax and use the restroom. Its kind of odd to say, but it also FELT clean. Not that it smelt like bleach or anything. But it felt and looked and smelled clean. I have to agree with a previous post, it made you fell like it was ok to walk around barefoot. Staff was very friendly, even at 1a.m. Free breakfast, and GREAT room. I do recommend to anyone passing by. All the other good reviews are no lies, we concur! read more
