Super easy roadside Hotel. Far enough off hwy 40 so it's very quiet. Hotel staff was super accommodating and friendly. Very cute, and Super clean. Nice bed and clean thick towels. My daughter had to stay here for the night paid 85$ for a run down hotel room and woke up COVERED in BED BUG BITES! It was brought to the front desk attendants attention and she dismissed her as if she got them somewhere else... which is not possible! So just beware and check room thoroughly before paying because they will not issue a refund for such a horrible experience! She literally saw one crawling on her sweater when she wokey up, she's young and shy so didn't want to say anything but I told her she needed to go bring it to their attention and hopefully they'd do the right thing and offer a refund... they didn't! read more

It was as advertised we got there it was ready to go. It was super cute and very clean. It's a vintage motel, but not completely restored so you still get a feel of the past. Super nice staff and located right next-door to the Red River steakhouse which now is one of my top five best steaks lifetime!! I will come back here again for a quick getaway and I would recommend it for anybody coming this way. read more

Basic room for basic price. Walls were not well insulated so could feel the cold and hear the hunters get up at 4:30 am. Sheets were strange material. Pillows and mattress were marginal. On the other hand, Room was clean and heated when we arrived. Staff was quite nice. read more

Was taking a cross-country trip to Daytona Beach and wanted to stay here both going and coming, made 2 reservations. Upon arrival, I was informed the motel had overbooked, and I had to keep going down the road to find a place to stay. On my trip home, my reservation was validated when I showed up. The wife and I definitely decided to not use the shower, very uninviting and not enough towels. I have never sat on a toilet that was as small as the one in our room, made for kids? It was 39 degrees outside, so the heater in the room was used and had NO effect on the icy cold bathroom. Lousy bedding, we could not wait to get out of there, what a shame it ruined my Route66 experience. Paid $62.00 for the night and that was too much. The Red River restaurant is lousy, McLean, TX has really been left behind. read more

I really liked this small frtendly little gem. There are some well thought out homey touchs in the room. It was clean, roomy, and comfortable. My only complaint was I found the pillows too soft. Bring your own if you have it. Soft, but vomfortable bed. Welcomed our cat staying...no problem. read more

OK, I'll give this five stars with this caveat, I did not stay in the room. This business is affiliated with "Harvest Host" which allows a few motorhomes/campers to park on the property, and that is how I came to be here. Angela, the owner/manager was friendly and accommodating. She recommended several businesses nearby, which were exceptional. A steakhouse next-door, and a small bar down in the town. She is gung ho about this little town and I don't blame her, I might move here myself. read more

This hotel is awsome. The owner is very kind. I called to reserve a room and when I got here she had turned the heater and light on for me They allow pets. It is clean and smells good the beds were firm and the sheets clean no stains. TV worked well and so did the fridge and microwave a cute touch I enjoyed was the two water bottles and bag of popcorn what a thoughtful thing to do. I loved there soap they provided and the fact that they had liquid creamers for the coffee they took the time to add special touches to make your visit plesent. while traveling on Route 66, we came across The Cactus Inn in McLean Tx. I gotta say it was one of the best little places we stayed during the trip! The owner was very nice and funny, and so accommodating. The room was very clean and decorated nicely, with a mini fridge and microwave. She even had 2 bottles of water and a pack of microwave popcorn in a basket waiting for us. The price was extremely affordable. If you find yourself over this way, you won't be disappointed. read more

This was a quaint inn. The service was great. The only complaint is that the water pressure is sub-par and the wifi is slow.

The Cactus Inn.The new owner that took over in Feb 2020 is doing a great job in theme decorating each of the rooms. I got to stay in the New Mexico room! I would give 10 stars if I could for the cleanliness alone. This room was the cleanest room I've ever stayed in, anywhere. I loved the personal touches like complimentary water & microwave popcorn. Was looking forward to staying here since we use to own small motels and I love the quaintness of a mom and Pop and reading the reviews I thought it would be great...well one review said room was nice and cozy our room as 56 degrees and we had a reservation, so you would think a small place like this they would turn on heat. According to reviews the rooms were clean and nice well #19 was not any of those. Walls were beat up, chair had duck tape on it, towels didn't match and were ragged...no shower here. Tv kept going out due to lousy internet, coffee maker but no coffee and no tissues? I am trying to find something good about this place I guess that it is on Route 66 also since the reviews were so good maybe we just got a bad room? Clean. Contactless check in was a great plus during worst of the pandemic. I made two LA to NYC round-trips during the pandemic and this stop worked out very well for the cross country drive. The owner and her staff are so accommodating and friendly.. the room was very clean and you could tell that a effort has been made to maintain a older property.. everything worked fine.. the bed was great and the property was very quiet.. good sleeping. I came in on Sunday so all of the restaurants were closed.. I knew this ahead of time, so I stopped in Amarillo for a Subway to go.. worked out fine. This is an original motel from the 50's, it has been changed very little since then, hence the fact that bathroom, etc is quite old and not in tip top shape. However, I am giving it 5 stars because it was clean, and the owner, Ben Reeves, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. There is a good steakhouse next in walking distance, we will definitely stay here on our way back again. read more

Worst hotel ever. Checked in, paid the $45 only to find out there's no food or drink for 30 miles. So here I sit eating saltines and water that I brought. On top of that my coffee pot had burnt coffee on the bottom of the pot and leftover stale grinds in the basket. Trust me keep driving. read more

If you are traveling interstate 40 through the Texas Panhandle, this little motel is not to be missed! Rooms are spacious and clean, feature all necessary amenities (fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, flat screen tv, etc) and are furnished quite simply, in a manner that reminds one of home. Make sure to stay here on a Tuesday-thru-Saturday and you won't miss the Red River Steakhouse next door either. Better restaurant food is not to be found on I-40 for miles and miles in either direction, even for the vegetarian. Last night I feasted on their dinner salad, broccoli, and peach cobbler. Their BBQ sauce tasted great on the broccoli. They also have plum cobbler. For you Route 66 travelers, this is your stop! read more
