Waitress was really good, it's unfortunate she has to work somewhere serving glorified cafeteria food.

Way too expensive. Food was barely even warm. Clean atmosphere. Service workers were very friendly. Better bang for your buck elsewhere.

We had to stop at the Big Texan while traveling Route 66 through Amarillo!…read more Our original plan was to come for dinner. I tried getting a reservation just a few hours before we arrived, but there was nothing available, and I wasn't able to get anyone on the phone. Once we drove past that evening, we understood why, the place was absolutely PACKED! I had seen that waits can sometimes reach 1-1.5 hours. That said, if you do have to wait, this is probably one of the better places to do it because there is SO much randomness to explore. Between the gift shop, Western décor, photo ops, and everything else going on, you could easily entertain yourself for an hour. We changed plans and made a reservation for 9 AM the next morning instead, and I'm actually really glad we did! On a Thursday morning it was quiet and relaxed, and we basically had our pick of all the goofy photo opportunities without fighting the dinner crowds. We shared the steak and eggs, and it was a perfect breakfast for two. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked really well. The entire place is exactly what you hope for from an over-the-top Texas Route 66 roadside stop: rustic, quirky, cow prints everywhere, a big gift shop, and lots to look at. We also discovered a whole crew of cats hanging around outside near the patio in the morning, which was an unexpected and entertaining bonus. One disappointment for us as Route 66 souvenir collectors: they have TWO penny press machines, but unfortunately BOTH were out of order when we visited. We were so sad! Overall, going at 9 AM turned out to be a great move. You still get the full Big Texan experience, but with way fewer people and plenty of time for pictures. Definitely one of those classic, quirky Route 66 stops you have to experience at least once!

We visited on a Sunday night at around 7pm and it was very busy. We were on a road trip and…read moredecided to stop there, eat at the restaurant, and stay in the motel. The wait time wasn't a big deal because we checked into our room, got settled, and browsed the gift shop while waiting for a table. The experience was fun, for sure. It's a neat restaurant. The food, though, wasn't so great. We ordered fried mushrooms as an appetizer and they were at our table in just a few minutes. It's obvious that they had been pre-prepared and had been sitting because they were cold. They were still good, but would have been better if they were hot and fresh. I ordered a porterhouse medium-rare and my wife ordered some other steak, also medium-rare. Hers was cooked perfectly, but mine came out well-done. We didn't see our server for quite a while after the food was dropped off, and I was hungry, so I started eating it anyway. The steaks were barely seasoned at all. The strip part of the porterhouse was tolerable even if overcooked, but the tenderloin side was tasteless, tough leather. It was a shame, because it looked great on the plate until I started slicing into it. By the time our server finally came around to check on us, I'd finished half the steak. She asked how it was and I showed her the well-done steak and she apologized and said that she would add a discount. When the bill came, I saw that she had taken around $15 off the price of my steak, which was reasonable, so that resolution was fine with me. We had fun while eating there. The place was super-busy and we were sat next to a couple at a long, common table. We had some great conversation with our table mates while waiting for our food. One of them got the tomahawk ribeye and it was quite impressive. Maybe we just came at the wrong time when it was too busy. Maybe if we came at a less busy time my steak wouldn't have been overcooked. This seems to be one of those restaurants that you go to once for the total experience, but it's not where I'd want to go again to get a good, reliable steak.

If you choose the pork option, the char siu comes in thick slices, and the broth had good flavor with a generous portion. My only real disappointment was the egg--I would have preferred a soft-boiled egg with a jammy, runny yolk instead of a hard-boiled one. Also, while the noodles arrived steaming hot, the broth was only slightly warmer than room temperature. I didn't mention it since it wasn't cold, and I figured they would probably have had to remake the bowl. Overall, the food was solid and the service was pleasant, but I'd like to see the broth served hotter and the egg prepared differently.

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt a responsibility to write one for this place…read more This was my first stop during a four-day cross-country road trip. When I found out there was an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ within walking distance of my hotel, I was genuinely excited. After walking there in the summer heat, I was pleasantly surprised by how large and well-designed the restaurant was. Even on a weekday a little after 6 PM, there was a wait, but the system was organized, and I was seated after about 15 minutes. The thought of enjoying Korean BBQ with soju while traveling far from home made me really happy. Unfortunately, everything after I sat down was disappointing. First, I want to say that the staff were excellent. They were friendly, attentive, and provided great service throughout the meal. I have absolutely no complaints about the service. The food, however, did not live up to the atmosphere or the service. The first dish served was soft tofu stew (Soondubu), and honestly, I couldn't even describe what it tasted like. It didn't resemble authentic Korean soondubu at all. Even more surprising, an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurant didn't have ssamjang (Korean dipping paste). As a Korean, I never imagined I would eat grilled meat wrapped in lettuce without ssamjang. They served lettuce but no ssamjang--it was honestly unbelievable. The side dishes were also disappointing. The kimchi felt more like an imitation of kimchi than the real thing. Most of the staff appeared to be Chinese, so I assume the owner may also be Chinese. I don't mean that as criticism or disrespect in any way. My point is simply that I had hoped to experience at least a little of the authentic flavors of Korea. If you're just looking for a place with a Korean-style atmosphere and decent service, you may enjoy it. But if you're looking for authentic Korean food, I can confidently say this is not the place.
