It seems to be run by a family, all of whom we're very friendly. There is a huge creek that runs through it, hence the name, and a lot of people were flyfishing, which was cool to watch. There are a few playgrounds and they have an activity area, but there were no activities scheduled for April.

We decided to join part of the family for trip to the north for Dickens Christmas. We picked…read moreCrooked Creek to get cabin. We reserved the only cabin they had left which was to be the one without the bathroom but the great part it was across the road from the bathhouse which was not an issue. Well the day before I received a call from the campground stating they had a bathroom cabin open if we would be intrested and of course we said yes. Of course it was little more but bathroom in winter with snow on the ground was a major plus. When we arrived we could not believe how great the cabin was. The cabin was #7. It offered a seperate bedroom from the man cabin and an awesome size bathroom. The bunkbed with futon was also great with the small table and chairs. We also had an order of fire wood delivered and we did burn on Saturday. We would be the only ones out with campfire!! So why this campground you may ask! Interactions by staff with calling us to let us know of an upgrade available, answering the phone when you call instead of an automated message, the place is amazing and location along the Pine Creek was awesome. Remember if you travel in the winter they did have it plowed also and the bathhouse was open also if needed along with laundry facility. Thanks again for allowing us to make memories!

This place is awesome! This is exactly what I want when I go camping, or "glamping". The location…read moreis isolated and picturesque. The cabins are extremely nice, well-stocked, and well kept. The location is amazing - you're in a somewhat small area of woods, next to a river, and at the foot of a mountain (well, very large hill). We stayed in Cabin 1 which is at the end and faced away from the other cabins so we felt very secluded which is perfect. The cabins themselves are excellent. The furniture is really nice, there is a great fire pit (with plenty of wood provided!), a jacuzzi tub, a wood burning stove, a shower, and a full kitchen which has all the cooking utensils you might need. Everything is very clean and in great condition. There is a central building on the grounds which I think is either a store or has games and stuff in it, but it was closed due to covid. There is also a path you can walk down which takes you through the woods and close to the river. We didn't see any wildlife on the grounds, but I have no doubt that elks and stuff come through here and you have a good chance of seeing them. Definitely a solid choice if you want a really nice place to stay in Elk County. A few things to note about this place: - The owner doesn't like credit card payments and charges an expensive fee if you pay with one. He prefers you send him a check instead. I sent a check and everything was fine. - You can't drive up to the cabins, there is a parking lot and then you have to walk. The cabins are in reverse order, so the closest one is 10 and the furthest from the lot is 1. There are big carts you use to transport your stuff. I thought this was cool, but something to think about if you're elderly or have issues transporting your stuff. - There is no cellphone reception here, nor in the closest town Benezette. However the cabins have WiFi which works well. - The floor of the cabins looks really nice (stones), but it's super cold and...rock-like, so you'll probably want to wear some kind of slippers or shoes. - The closest town is Benezette which is 5-10 min down the road, but it literally only has like 4 businesses and twice as many houses. There is a WalMart about 25 min away if you need supplies.

The Pine Creek Rail Trail runs through the base of the gorge itself, which can be accessed by driving partway down to the parking areas and then hiking or biking in. Or you could opt to take some challenging hikes down the sides of the canyon to the bottom from one of the trailheads at the state parks located on the east (Leonard Harrison) or west (Colton Point) rims. Leonard Harrison State Park offers more amenities, with a visitor's center, and souvenirs and snacks during the busy season, while Colton Point is a bit more basic with picnic tables and overlooks. There is also a covered wagon tour available through Ole Covered Wagon Tours that provide another way to enjoy the base of the canyon, along with a knowledgeable tour guide who can provide information on the history, geology, and nature in the area. If you're unfamiliar with the area, be aware that rattlesnakes and black bears live here.

Great hiking trails great views and overall a nice place to visit. The town nearby is also a great place to shop and grab something to eat. Be sure to plot everything by GPS there is minimal wireless Anal in the area probably because of how this place aligned with the Earth's magnetic field, regardless don't get lost and try not fall off. I have this place 3 Ninja stars because it was nothing close to Grand Canyon. This gorge is just that, a gorge and nothing near as close to a grand canyon.
