Unfortunately, the weather interfered with our ability to see as much as we had hoped, but we still had a great time! There is a nice visitor center with a variety of historic and nature info available, including some great info on the CCC work that took place in the park (there's a really nice interactive model of a CCC camp too) and how and where the park name is suspected to have been derived from. There is a real snake to look at, as well. A very nice playground is located nearby, and this section of the park also offers easy access to the Loysalsock Creek and the beach with a snack bar, plus multiple picnic tables and shelterhouses. It's beautiful even just to look at the valley walls and the creek itself. There are several gorgeous vistas available, some by foot and some by foot or car. We especially liked the Loyalsock Canyon Vista, which can be reached on foot or by car. It is located next to the Rock Garden, which is a very neat grouping of giant rocks and boulders that is a lot of fun to check out. The park also offers camping and plenty of trails. Worlds End is located within the Loyalsock State Forest, so there is also a lot more that one could explore in the area.

Ricketts Glen used to be my favorite PA state park, but World's End has totally won me over. The…read moremost important reasons: 1) The hikes here are a little more challenging, a little longer, and just generally more enjoyable for me. 2) The family campground is spacious - the tent sites and modern electric sites are interspersed, but you don't feel like you're right on top of the next site over. 3) The bathroom facilities are clean and warm, no matter what time of year I've visited. Big ups to maintenance and the camp hosts. 4) The camp hosts and visitors center personnel are fantastically kind and helpful. They obviously love this park. 5) Fun stuff like the Forksville General Store, Snack stands, swimming hike, Haystacks, Rock Garden, and all kinds of other interesting places to explore! I've been here with friends, with my family, and by myself, and I've thoroughly enjoyed each trip, so I'll definitely be back for more!

The gift shop is delightfully eclectic, with a great selection of rocks, crystals, and local souvenirs. It's the kind of place where you'll definitely find something unexpected. I was impressed by the inclusion of park staff for educational programming and talks about the the galaxy stars and more. They had telescopes for people to use as well which was pretty cool. Neat place well worth the visit on a beautiful starry night! If I had one complaint and it isn't park related, people really need to abide by the red light rules. We were absolutely blinded on several occasions by people with cell phones and other white light sources and it definitely takes you out of the experience. It really is that dark and it matters!

The wildlife center located at Sinnemahoning State Park is amazing. There is a really nice…read moreinteractive exhibit about the nature and history of the area, with some excellent kid-friendly features like a cave to crawl through to find animal displays. It also features a nice large classroom space with activities and short films - on the day we visited, it was alternating between videos on elk and eagles. The restrooms were exceptionally clean and in good condition. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The park has a lot of things to explore - and keep your eyes peeled for elk as you go! There was a sighting of a large bull while we were there. There is a reservoir created by a dam that offers opportunities for boating and fishing, and the dam is a great place to get a good overlook of the area. They offer pontoon boat tours on Sundays during parts of the year, but unfortunately, ours got cancelled due to the boat needing a repair. Camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing areas are also available in the park. We really enjoyed our visit here!

It has educational activities all year round, and has special programs such as Women in the Wilds and homeschoolers activities. It's a wonderful resource in a beautiful area.

On the plus side, the park has a covered pavilion near the entrance. Also, the park has a lot of trees which provides shade on a walking trail that is dog-friendly. The park is connected to Canfield Island, which is a historic location for a Native American village. On the minus side, it did not have open, clear views of the river. Also, the gnats were ferocious in July. Perhaps a walk here in the winter or late fall would be more pleasant (better views of the river and fewer insects). But overall, it's not a bad place to visit in the summer for a walk.

The Corning Glass Company is in the City of Corning, and still has its HQ here today. They maintain a great museum here that allows visitors to see the glass being made as well as the history of it all and to make a purchase or two if they would like. The museum has glass from as far back as you can imagine, they have done their homework and have a very all encompassing collection. They have a library to complement that collection and on any given day you will see students here using that library. The city has a nice commercial district, mostly made out of brink now since a fire destroyed it in the past. Its a pleasant place to walk in nice weather, and while they can get snow in winter, the rest of the year tends to be lovely here. I often come here with visitors to the WNY area. The museum is always a hit. They share their schools with the City of Painted Post, just next door.
