This is the first time we tried this place after attempting a few times over the last few years. It was never a destination for us just driving by and was going to try it since everyone around here says it's great. It was either closed or having private parties the other times we attempted. Wanted to try their wings once at the Galeton Wing event and they didn't have any there yet. So my wife and I just thought it wasn't in the cards for us to try this place. Let me start with it's more of a bar with a restaurant than a restaurant with a bar. One reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. I no longer drink so I try to stay away from bars. But being a bar it has bar food. And like most bars the food they have is usually good. This place didn't disappoint. My wife and I both got Burgers. Now a pet peeve of ours is having the meat on top of the tomato and onion. Not a big deal but with the weight on top it slides all over and comes apart easy. With the meat being the base on the bottom it is easier to hold together while eating. I'll get off my soap box now... The burgers were good and cooked as we requested. Now the seasoning they used was a hit and miss, some bites had a lot of flavor and others were just beef. Not a bad thing. The serving sizes are pretty large. The burger was too big for my wife to get a good bite. She is a little woman... Being in the north I was very surprised that they didn't have malt vinegar for the fries. I am willing to bet that a Friday or Saturday night dinner would be great here. We stopped for lunch on a Tuesday. The waitress was very nice and I am not sure that she wasn't the only one there cooking as well. I didn't ask but either way she did an amazing job. Wanted to dine at a casual, local, family owned place with great food and got all of the above. Run by a couple since 1948!!! The wife was serving and she warned how large their servings were and so true. We saw other customers with doggy bags. This was perfect for us stopping here on a trip to have leftovers for the next day. We just couldn't muster to order the Tig burger (1.5 lbs), but even their regular 3/4 lb. was more than enough along with beer battered fries. Their beer menu was pretty large. We were traveling thru and had heard good things about the Permastone. Well it was true, cool little mountain feel to it woth some taxidermy animals and a nice bar, huge dining room area. Well then we got to see other people's food coming out and let me tell you it was crazy to see the portion sizes! I ate a half of a burger and it felt like a whole one, cheese steak can feed 3 lol. This is the basic burger and basic BLT. If I recall correctly $14.00 and $9.00 respectively. If you're smart, you'll order half of what you think you can eat, but you'll still have leftovers. Staff was extremely uncoordinated and unfriendly. Servers do not know the menu or drink list or what is available. They forgot to bring out two-time requested sauces and messed up my order on top of that. They charge for refills which is ridiculous and they also charge for water... WHAT. WATER........... My brother and I went here for the first time on April 6th 2024. We had heard about it from a friend so decided to go on a road trip to try it out. WOW! That's what we both said when our sandwiches came out. I got a chicken cheesesteak and he got the cheesesteak. The roll was fresh and completely stuffed with chicken, cheese, grilled onions, peppers and mushrooms. When I cut it half I could barely close it enough so that I could get my mouth around it. We also got a large fry to split but it was completely unnecessary. We hardly ate a quarter of them and could only finish half of our sandwiches. I didn't mention that both of our sandwiches were delicious also. Very good. We both will definitely be back because we saw other food being served like the cheeseburgers that looked fantastic also. Definitely worth the drive. Our service was excellent also. The price was great. Our sandwiches were around $15 each but they were twice the size of the sandwich you would buy in State College for that same amount. LOVED IT!!! read more

Food was mediocre at best. Beef on the burger was bland, fries were not seasoned at all. Some crazy guy out back yelling and swearing. Other members of the staff dropping f-bombs every few minutes. We were recently in Galeton with friends and wanted a recommondation for a lunch spot, and a local told us to try this place. It is def the description of a biker place, and proudly so! I was excited to see they have Straub beer since it is my favorite. The place is unassuming and divey, but fun and totally what you'd think. Unpretentious with a simple menu of good old greasy bad for you but delicious food. Our table ordered the rattlesnake bites, they were fried balls of pepper jack cheese. They were yummy. We ordered the cheeseburger and it was as big as my head almost. We also ordered the fries and nacho cheese. Others at the table had wings, pizza, a blt, and ham and cheese hot sandwich, we all had different fries. Portions are huge!! It was fun and we were unhealthily full the rest of the day. Have been coming here for years and last Sat Night was the worst service we have ever had. They put my order but forgot my wife's. I received my meal and 45 min's latter she got hers. we waited OVER 2 hours for our meals. They keep telling us they were under staff with only 4.5 people working. Other people got FREE food because of the delays. WE didn't get any free food and got charged for two glasses of water. When I questioned the charges, she toke it off 20 min's latter. I've always heard good things about this place and my family is fond of it but tonight was the worst meal I ever had. Ordered food to go for family (5 pizzas, 2 orders of chicken tenders, 2 philly, fish sandwich....$116 worth and the only thing good was the chicken tenders). It was very undercooked (pictures speak for themselves). I should have taken it all right back for as bad as it sucked but I was visiting family like I do once a year and wanted to enjoy our last night. Always check your food before you leave. Well, walking in some girl was puking in the parking lot behind her car. Half hour later some guy puked on the bathroom floor. There was a crazy dart competition going on. They get five stars for the ridiculous hamburgers they make. This is a supreme dive bar located in the middle of BFE that most people from civilized areas would have no clue about. Do yourself a favor, wander out into the PA sticks and make some friends with the hill people. You'll hear some stories and tales of all sorts of madness. read more
