Allegedly cooked rotisserie chickens purchased here

So I have previously given this store a 1 star review. If yelp would allow negative star ratings I would give this store a -5 star review. For Thanksgiving 2021 we ended up with a turkey that was rancid , fortunately we had two. For the Thanksgiving meal I had also purchased a bottle of Kitchen Bouquet a few days before. When opened Thanksgiving Day it was dried up and solidified. Not one drop of liquid in the bottle. Two day later I picked up two of their precooked Rotisserie Chickens to eat with the leftovers from Thanksgiving. Both chickens were raw and bloody when we cut into them. The latest is three containers of grated parmesan cheese which we purchased Sunday 4/3/22. Last night I opened one of the 3 to find chunks of mold in the cheese. I looked at the expiration date and it was 1/22/22 on all three containers. Buy your groceries elsewhere.

Rouse's is excellent. As you enter, you are in the bakery and prepared foods section. All varieties of cookies, cakes and fresh baked bread are available. There is also a flower section, but I am a dude and don't know much, other than flowers are pretty and smell good. The bakery can make custom cakes for all occasions. Their cakes are reasonably priced and taste excellent. The prepared food section/deli can also prepare sandwich trays and other party platters. Again, they are reasonably priced and taste great. Rouse's deli has all varieties of meat. The Rouse's brand roast beef is very good, as is Chisesi ham. Near the deli is the cheese island (at least that's what I call it). There is a pretty good variety of cheese including goat and other varieties. As you move further into the store, there is an excellent produce section. I have found all of their fruits and vegetables to be fresh and well stocked. There is a small section with organic varieties that should satisfy most. The next section is my favorite. The meat section. Rouse's has a large display where they dry age beef. I have had some of their dry aged ribeyes. Yum. The meat section includes a cooler of items made in house. Stuffed chicken thighs, boudin, hog head cheese, beef jerky and my all time favorite, stuffed jalapenos. As you continue, there are several health/organic food isles. All I can say for sure is that this section sells granola and other healthy things. The rest of the store is pretty standard; milk, eggs, etc. There is a expansive wine and liquor section. There is a pretty knowledgeable guy that is usually in the wine area. He will offer suggestions if you aren't sure what you want. If you buy a bottle and want it chilled, there is an immersion chiller in the wine area. Put your bottle in, continue shopping and by the time you leave, your wine will be cold. They also have a small selection of high end cigars in the wine area. There is a large beer section which has a very good variety. There is even a shelf of beers you can buy individually or make your own six pack. This Rouse's seems to hire high-school aged cashiers. They are all very nice and professional. As you exit, there is a post office and Redbox DVD rental machine. Rouse's will oftentimes cook in the parking lot. We tried their spareribs one Friday, and they were very good. This is really a nice store.

This is a package of chicken marked down because it isn't selling. Click like if you see why it is not selling!

I love Rouse's! It's about 1 minute from my house so I'm a regular. I really like the layout of the store. Fantastic bakery and "treat" section. They also have a really good meat section. I buy a lot of their pre-seasoned meats which are usually tasty.. The cashiers seem more friendly and upbeat than most places I go so that's a big plus. They even have a pizza buffet on certain nights. Just an all around good store.

I didn't pick any up, but man, they smelled great. The store lacks a good selection of prepared to go foods or platters. I know I went on a holiday, but at my local stores, that means they are constantly putting plates out. I ended up with a brand name meat tray, and it was the only one out. The layout is similar the location at home which I find most confusing. If you shop the perimeter of the store, you will be fine, but I needed some bandaids as I had cut myself on the drive in, and I must have walked the aisles for 5 minutes or so trying to find them. I think they were in the paper goods or beauty aisle. I headed to the self-checkout, and I was wished a nice 4th upon leaving. It was a quick trip, and I suppose it did the job it needed to, but I wish I would have stopped at one of my stores on the way instead.

If I could give it one star, I would. There's ONE cashier (I won't give her name but it starts with…read morean M) who makes it miserable for everyone; snarky, rude, and nasty attitude. She must be miserable. I'm writing up a BBB complaint because our entire neighborhood is sick of her. We've reported her to management several times and were finally told by someone she runs that store. No, the customers do. Our book club has approximately 51 people who avoid that store strictly because of her. She needs a happy pill, to go home or quit if she's that miserable. On 21SEPT2022 at 10:05am, we went in to get snacks for our club and she was there. Yep, we left. Not today Satan...not today.

While the prices are higher than Winn Dixie (which also has high-priced produce compared to Texas), the liquor selection is remarkable. We had fun going down the aisles and checking out the odds and ends. My husband bought a bottle of whiskey, and he can't wait until our next visit to drop in again. I was brought back to my high school days when I would drop in and kill time wandering around the store.

I think it is because they remind me of childhood vacations to Grand Isle where we visited the Safeway before settling in at the camp. That grocery store, like this Piggly Wiggly wasn't fancy, but it made you feel welcome. On this trip I just needed a few items that would have been available at any drug, convenience, or large grocery store. I stopped here because it was on the way home, plus I figured I would enjoy the store and I most certainly did. There are only 4-6 aisles in this store and each is packed with items to maximize space. There is a small produce area, deli and larger liquor area. Apparently Madisonville likes their booze. The produce was fresh and fairly priced, but don't expect the selection you'd find at a larger store. I bought bananas and pears, both of which were devoured by my children soon after bringing them home. I didn't buy any of their meat this trip, but they had a good variety of freshly packaged meat available. They even had frog legs and stuffed chickens available. Speaking of kids, if yours are the rambunctious type, they may bump into things as they twirl to the imaginary music in their heads. I lucked out that mine saved that behavior for the parking lot, but the aisles are somewhat narrow so use caution. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this old style neighborhood grocery. I doubt it will become my regular store, but I will be sure to stop in whenever I'm passing through and need a few items.
