I popped into Winn Dixie on the 4th of July to grab a couple of items for a pool party I was going to. Outside, an employee was grilling up bbq ribs for the taking. I didn't pick any up, but man, they smelled great. The store lacks a good selection of prepared to go foods or platters. I know I went on a holiday, but at my local stores, that means they are constantly putting plates out. I ended up with a brand name meat tray, and it was the only one out. The layout is similar the location at home which I find most confusing. If you shop the perimeter of the store, you will be fine, but I needed some bandaids as I had cut myself on the drive in, and I must have walked the aisles for 5 minutes or so trying to find them. I think they were in the paper goods or beauty aisle. I headed to the self-checkout, and I was wished a nice 4th upon leaving. It was a quick trip, and I suppose it did the job it needed to, but I wish I would have stopped at one of my stores on the way instead. read more

If I could give it one star, I would. There's ONE cashier (I won't give her name but it starts with an M) who makes it miserable for everyone; snarky, rude, and nasty attitude. She must be miserable. I'm writing up a BBB complaint because our entire neighborhood is sick of her. We've reported her to management several times and were finally told by someone she runs that store. No, the customers do. Our book club has approximately 51 people who avoid that store strictly because of her. She needs a happy pill, to go home or quit if she's that miserable. This Winn-Dixie has a nice parking lot. That is about all it has going for it. Strike 1 - This store has a werid layout. OK,OK,OK. If you have been going to Winn-Dixie all your life maybe you're used to it. I have been to plenty of WD stores and I can never find anything. The produce, deli,bakery, and booze is pretty easy to get through, but everything else pretty much throws me for a loop. I can never seem to find what I need. Strike 2 - For a store that calls itself the Beef People, the meat selection is not up to par. Not only are they lacking in selection, what they do have, is pretty awful. A few weeks ago I picked up a few of their pre packaged items in the meat section. I picked bacon wrapped fillets and stuffed jalapenos. Both were awful. The fillet was of such poor quality that I think chuck roast would've been more tender. The jalapenos were stuffed with cream cheese and had pretty much no taste. That's almost impossible to do when you wrap something in bacon, but they managed to do it. Strike 3 - The discount card deal. I don't have, nor do I want a discount card. Just give me the price everyone pays. I don't get why you want to compile a list of my purchases in order to give me a slight discount on food. Just list a price, and charge that price. What's next? Some sort of free dish giveaway like in the 1980s? You know what happens when you get three strikes Winn-Dixie? That's right. YOU'RE OUUUUUUUUUT!!!!!! read more

I really like shopping at the I-59 Winn-Dixie. I've always been greeted when there is an employee near the entrance. The deli department and fruit department people are so nice and always stop what they are doing when I need them. The french bread is great and lunches are good. I would never ever EVER GO TO WINN DIXIE in Mandeville. My family came in and brought 3 sacks of crawfish, shrimp, crabs and many other items. The whole time we were checking out our items in self-checkout we were the only family watched. Yacoub stood over our register and made comments about every item we scanned. At one point he reached inside our basket and put his bare hands on a honey Bunn that we had brought ahead of time for the little children we had that was half eaten still in the wrap. He told us his hands is cleaner than the basket and we shouldn't worry about it even though the item was still in the wrapper he though it was okay to touch it. Being the only black family in the store at the time we were definetly signaled out and while the employee Yacoub was doing all this his managers stood by an watched. Other patrons were able to shop in peace and checkout in peace. My family that travel over 300 miles from Texas to attend a family funeral still grieving had to deal with discrimination, racism, sexism and embrassment at the hands of Winn Dixie Employees. I would never Ever patronize another Winn Dixie in my life. Louisiana you guys need a H-E-B!! read more

I really like this Winn Dixie because the employees are really friendly and I think the store itself is laid out very well. I frequently travel to Lafayette and this grocery store is on the way for me and right off of Interstate 12, so the location is convenient when I need to stop and pick up various ingredients for dinner for my visit to my dad's house or everything needed to make a Bloody Mary for a visit to my sister's house. ;) If you're in Mandeville and need groceries I recommend this Winn Dixie. read more

I grew up on Winn-Dixie. I have come to enjoy their product selection. This location has a great deli staff and all around friendly employees. Very rarely do I not find a specific item I am looking for. Very good prices on most of the products offered for purchase. An added bonus is the Fuel Perks program that Winn-Dixie is currently offering. You get a discount on gas at participating Shell stations based on the dollar amount you spend at Winn-Dixie. With a family of four, needless to say, we spend a good bit of our income on groceries. This got us a discount of $1.25 per gallon at Shell last week. Sweet! read more

Rude...just rude. So we're shopping and they make a "15 minutes closing" announcement. We immeditly head to registers and they shut them all down. Everyone had to use the self check out. The kid working the station was rude and of no help. Winn Dixie, you may want to be careful. You're not the only grocery on the block. read more

I normally come here to shop. It's nice, clean and the people are somewhat helpful. After the recent upgrades i had issues finding some medicine and vapor rub. I went to check out and the girl at the register named Victoria was very unhelpful. Told her I was having you issues finding the medicine and Vicks. Said oh I don't know. Told her there wasn't anyone on the floor I could find to help. Said oh. Everything was just one worded answers following. I knew it wasn't getting anywhere. This was the most unpleasant experience ever. 5:00 pm on a Tuesday. Visited this store for my monthly grocery purchases. I walked up to deli counter, older man sauntered up and lifted his chin (I interrupted it as Can I Help You?). I stated what I needed. When he brought it back, he actually lifted his hand and flipped it up in a single wave. Most aisles were being stocked by teenagers who blocked the aisle entirely and cocked an attitude when I said excuse me while trying to reach something they were blocking or simply to get passed them. After all this, I get to checkout and only 1 register was open for full service. Like I said I was buying my monthly groceries and didn't want to block the self serve registers for the people with only a few items. The cashier was frowning and put off totally miserable vibes. Eventually 2 more registers opened and those cashiers were mad at the world too! I went to customer service to make the manager on duty aware of how horrible their employees were treating customers. I bought my daughter's bridal shower cake here, and Candace did an amazing job on the decorations with instructions by phone. It was just what I wanted, and it got so many compliments. More than one person said it was the most moist and delicious cake they had eaten in a while. We got a chocolate cake with white, whipped icing and teal accents. Beautiful! Also, Jim in floral made the most beautiful corsage out of white roses and teal ribbon that I selected from their stock. It was also just what I wanted. The only negative was that somebody (not blaming Jim, may be somebody else's job) forgot to put a pin on the corsage. The shower was held in a restaurant, and thankfully one of our guests had some straight pins in her purse. Other than that, all was perfect, and the cake and flower prices are fantastic. read more

This Winn-Dixie is conveniently located off I-12 and Hwy 59 in Mandeville. It's never overly crowded and has a nice selection and is laid out well. Never had an issue with the staff - they aren't overly enthusiastic or friendly but not rude either. I frequent this store if I need to swing by and get something on my way home from work. read more

Staff is friendly and helpful for the most part, but I've had a couple of nightmare experiences with people there, too. (Ultimately these things are an inevitable part of life, however. Don't we all have our bad days?) The biggest red flag I would wave, however, is that this, particular store has stolen from us far too many times. It started when some of our groceries were run over the cashier scanner, charging us for them, but then the items weren't bagged and didn't come home with us. After noticing this too many times, I started insisting on bagging, myself, which put a surprisingly swift end to the problem. Subsequently, however, I started finding them just charging excess quantities that we don't have. On one receipt I was charged for 4 not-cheap items I didn't have (for example, 2 bottles of $10 shampoo instead of the one I had.) During that same shop, although they had a "buy 1 lb of cheese from the deli get 1lb of ham free" deal on, I was only given 1lb of ham, despite buying 2lbs of cheese--another rip off. When I went to customer service to straighten this out later, I was treated like a hassle (and STILL not given the lb of ham I was shorted.) I still shop there (my husband likes it for some reason, and I guess the fuel perks aren't bad,) but I watch my receipts like a hawk--and you should, too! read more
