When we remodeled our kitchen in 1991, with semi-custom cherry cabinets, the space we allowed for a…read morerefrigerator was, we hoped, big enough for any future replacement. The cabinet above was 67 inches from the floor. We never dreamed that almost 30 years later almost every fridge on the market was over 70 inches tall, and the one we wanted was 71-1/2 inches. What we wanted was a cabinetmaker to take out the existing cabinet and replace it with something shorter but that still looked good in the space. One woodworker we contacted said he couldn't take the job, but recommended Giles Woodworks of Milford. Chris Giles asked for additional photos and measurements, and quoted us an acceptable price to build a new cabinet (now the full width of the opening), with doors that matched the rest of the kitchen. He came out to remove the old cabinet, had us visit his shop to verify the color match, then returned a week later (with his daughter as assistant) to install the new cabinet. To say that we are thrilled and delighted would be an understatement. You would never know that the new cabinet wasn't part of the original installation three decades earlier. He was able to match the doors exactly, and the wood and colors also match perfectly. At every step of the process, Chris Giles was professional and made us confident in his abilities. (And yes, he wore a mask when he was in our home, at our request.) We highly recommend Giles Woodworks for your custom woodworking needs.

The first phase: a full gut of our house built in 1900. Removing walls, adding/moving bathrooms, leveling floors, replacement windows throughout, and rebuilding the staircase. Our home is now a modern wonder and we love it. The second phase was to restore the front porch to look similar to its original look, re-side the whole house, and add corbels to the roof-line. It looks beautiful and is a definite statement and conversation starter for our neighborhood! The final phase was removing the lead paint on a built-in cabinet so we could refinish it. Not only was it sanded down to the beautiful wood but they were able to find the hardware had amazing details in them! TJO kept on schedule, stayed in constant communication, and came in on budget. TJO Contracting was exactly what we needed! We give Tim and TJO our highest recommendation to anyone looking for a general contractor!
