This was a cool little bookstore that came highly recommended by a friend that lives in the area. I had been anticipating the release of a book so while in town I drove up to this location. It has a great little coffee shop with bake goods they brought in from a local bakery. I found the book I wanted, an iced tea, and a cookie and I was all set. The proprietor asked me about my selection and we talked a bit about it. All in all a great experience and I will definitely be back again. read more

Beautiful bookstore with a great selection of new releases and a nice coffee bar. I loved the creative way they decorated their counters with remainder materials. I purchased some books and a cribbage board. A few days later I noticed the cribbage had the wrong number of points! Saw this store as I was driving through the roundabout and I had to check it out. What a gem I found! They have an absolitely adorable and cozy vibe, I love all the little details, and the stacked books as a counter design! The drinks were delicious and they have my absolute favorite pastry: The Ocean Roll! They even have some art supplies and and I got some great books for myself and my son! Came here for the first time, the guy who was working was talking to the girl behind the counter and seemed annoyed that I wanted to order. When I did order, they gave me attitude about the sandwich I wanted because I wanted it warm and apparently they don't do that. And laughed at me like I was stupid for not knowing that. The couple of friends I came with and I were also watched from the coffee counter to the checkout desk like we were stealing some stupid overpriced wood bowl. We ended up just paying for it and leaving. Thanks but no thanks, better experiences at chains like Barnes and noble. How disappointing. read more

Whenever I am in another town I always go looking for the bookstores, especially the independent bookstores. Roundabout Books is a true gem, everything you expect in an indie bookstore and then some. Although the collection is small compared to a chain store like Barnes & Noble, it's well curated, beautifully displayed and the staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. What's more of the entire feel of the store is perfect for readers. Big comfortable chairs, intimate seating areas, a great playspace for kids amongst the children's literature, and a really nice coffee bar that features literary-themed drinks! All in all a great indie bookstore and a "must-visit" for any bibliophile! read more

This is just the perfect spot. We live in NWX so this location is great for finding or ordering a book. Also excellent to just browse and hang out and find something that interests you. They offer up food and coffee as well, all good local options. Roundabout Books is welcoming to just enjoy comfortable seating and open to bringing in your laptop to do some quick work or just relax and watch the world go by. This is also an excellent meeting a friend for coffee location but a little small for larger groups. Lots to do in the area, so if you're not familiar with Bend, lots of great food and shopping options around there but for sure visit Roundabout and buy some stuff, we want them in the neighborhood forever. read more

The aroma of coffee wafting through the door (little café space in front serves local roaster Lone Pine), friendly staff who will answer questions on any book they have or don't, a delightful assortment of greeting cards that aren't seen everywhere with some interesting enough to frame (ask me how I know that) and places to sit accessible to people of all abilities to read something from the shop's lovely selection of books in hardcover and paperback for readers of all walks of life and ages including a nice children's section. Something I appreciate, even though I don't have children, because I was one of those kids who often heard the parental admonition "Put down that book and go DO something!" As an adult I don't read as much. Well, books at least. For the scores of hours I read weekly, few of them involve books. I don't know what happened to that obsession. But the couple times I've been in this splendid independent bookstore I am reminded what a gift it is to enjoy reading and all the better when there is staff as here who can help direct you to titles you wouldn't otherwise consider. (Noting that they also have online staff recommendations, while I have not met Cassie or Karen in person I can say they have directed me in their picks through that mode.) And also just how good a fresh book smells when you open it to read it...in particular with a cup of coffee chaser! BOOK OF THE MONTH - A program that makes a great gift for yourself or someone else for book of the month or book every other month in which they'll select titles customized to fit the interests of the reader. They will mail them, I think, but if you know someone who lives in Bend, as I once did, better yet for them to go in and pick them up to enjoy a chapter or two while sipping coffee (or tea or wine or beer) in the store. TIP - I think a favorite MO is to enjoy reading some of the book there with coffee in the morning to time it to be ready for break just as Washington (restaurant) opens next door for lunch, then toodle over for lunch to discuss the book with your spouse or friend. (But the Washington lunch dates will be subject of a separate review.) PARKING - is a bear in Bend anywhere and in particular in NW Crossing where Roundabout is located. There is a small lot behind the (Trend) building. ACCESSIBILITY - Stairs to the front entry, level in entry into the Trend building where the bookshop is located from the back parking lot, which has a space or two of ADA parking. All on one floor inside the bookstore. On my visits aisles have been wide enough for wheelchair use, it seems, with seating areas with enough space as well. read more

Would give Roundabout 5 stars but I miss the quaint setting before the store was remodeled. Was one of the coziest spots in Bend, but now the café and reading areas are too open and less intimate. Consider placing cafe tables in small groups maybe separated by book stacks/shelves. Starting to get more of a big bookstore feel. bummer. Also, really miss the gluten free goodies they used to sell. Bring 'em back! Otherwise, the staff, customer service, selection, location, decor, and ability to order any book for pick up is awesome! read more

This is such a great independent book shop! I love taking my kids to the children's reading section there, and it's in a very walkable area of Bend. There is also a cute small café inside. I've always come with my kids, so I haven't had time to get a glass of wine and sit down with a book, but it looks very relaxing! I also appreciated suggestions for children's birthday gifts, and they had a special area for books on the Battle of the Books list, which often sell out and are not available from the library. read more

Very cute little shop which had the books I was looking for, where other's didn't. The coffee was excellent and the seating area, while limited during the cold season, is very comfortable. It has never been so easy to buy books (this is good), but if you are like me and savor the times you can wander shelves and shop for a new book without knowing exactly what you're looking for... then it has become increasingly hard to do so. Roundabout Books is a beautiful, well curated independent bookstore. It is easy to find the titles you've been hearing about, but also interesting lesser-known options. My 9 year old and her friends love the kids section. The staff is always ready to help. There are a few nice places to sit and read and they have a small selection of baked goods and coffee. They recently supported the state wide Battle of the Books in local elementary schools and really have a passion for the neighborhood. I see independent bookstores as a community asset and I am really excited that our town can support this business. read more
