Short Review: Hardest-working, most honest, most reliable guys in the restoration business. They take good care of your assets, and go the extra mile to get top quality transfers and (re)masters. All at very reasonable prices. High recommend! Long Review: Top-notch services here! When I first walked into the studio, it reminded me of the recording studios I grew up going to with my dad when he was producing records 40 years ago. Big, thick, heavy soundproof door. Dimly-lit room. Vintage recording and mixing equipment. Old, black leather couch. Ripped carpet with tape on the floor. Uneven steps. The smell of old vinyl. Mmmmm! I fricken love coming to this place! In fact, I was so lucky to find it. Because the quality of work is so high, that they literally serve all of the classic Hollywood music, film, TV libraries. Literally all of them. At any given moment you can see the names of famous people on the outer cases of tapes laying around waiting to be transferred. All these years later, we're remastering dad's tapes, vinyls and 8-tracks. Round N Wound has all the equipment to do it too. I've used their services 4 times so far and I'm always so surprised at how reasonably priced they are for what we ask them to do. It's really amazing stuff. And they are very trustworthy with your valuable assets. You can't go wrong. Bring your stuff here! read more

Darren and company are absolutely the very best for anything having to due with literally anything especially including their audio/video transfer services. In fact they were able to take a more than 50 year and old terribly distorted cassette recording of my grandmother and convert it, distortion free, into both a WAV file and thumb drive in just days. Save time and don't even bother making another phone call lol. read more

Shout out to the boys at Round & Wound. After years of procrastination, I had finally decided to have my old band's 16-Track, 1 inch tape-demo transferred to Pro Tools. They did all the necessary wizardry to ensure that the tape transferred properly. The final result was a perfect transfer, super hi-fi after all these years... recorded in 1987 !!! I had looked at other businesses for doing the tape transfer but these guys were more affordable. I Highly recommend these cats. Peace. read more

PERFECT WORK with decent cost on my 1988 Ampex 1 inch 16 track tape with dbx (!). It made the day for my old client. Also, excellent communication and timing. I keep this address in my book!!! read more

Round and Wound was my answer to audio help . They were able to transfer a very old cassette to new digital technology overnight. I was so impressed by their support and kindness -- rare these days. And to top it off, the cost was reasonable. You know the saying, " You get what you pay for." Maybe not always true because in this case, you get much more than you pay for. I recommend Round and Wound highly and without any reservations. These guys are pros. The audio work is amazing. The service is exceptional. The cost is reasonable. And they also do pro work for the studios and musicians. I feel so fortunate that I learned about them. read more

I was noticing that some of my audio tapes from the 80's were coming apart, so it was time to save irreplaceable ones. I brought in 3 cassettes from my bands from the era, and Round and Wound did a great job of digitizing them. The new versions sound as good as the originals, and the songs are separated and labeled correctly, which is quite good considering the handwritten notes that I had. Not only that, but the price was reasonable. I highly recommend them! read more

Had an excellent experience with Darren at Round & Wound. Detailed information for my wide range of media to be digitized, prompt service, excellent work, and perfect accountability related to recovering my items upon completion. Top-level recommendation. read more

Several years ago I was given some 1/4" tapes, demos that my dad recorded back in the late 60s, that I was unable to play because I didn't have the equipment. I was also anxious to about damaging them if played because of their age and casual way they had been stored. The 25th anniversary of my father's passing is next month and the desire to hear what was on the tapes intensified. I saw the ad for Round And Wound in Tape Op magazine, a resource I trust, and reached out to get information. Darren replied a few hours later and explained the process. He made everything very straight forward. I shipped the tapes the next day and a few weeks later, tonight, I received the digital files. The audio is all there and even though it is a 50 year old amateur demo it was profoundly moving to listen to these songs. I'm happy that I contacted these guys and so excited to continue playing the music. I also sent a couple of DA-88 tapes from a 16 track recording session in the mid 90s. These were recorded professionally and my hopes were high. The plan is to re-release the CD with additional tracks that had been left in the can at the time. Round and Wound definitely exceeded my expectations as the tracks sound terrific. Nothing lost sonically, everything is tight and clean. It's great when you find a company that values their clients and take extreme pride in their work. Professional and genuinely nice people. I can't recommend Round And Wound enough. I look forward to sending them projects in the future, read more

I had various old tapes from my band day's and wanted to transfer to digital format, I found Round and Wound and very glad I contacted them! I spoke to Darren and He was very very helpful in setting up a time for us to drop off the tapes! When We got to Round and Wound, Darren and Brian Were so Gracious and Showed My Girls how they do the tape transfer from various well known artists, and other aspects of transferring tape to digital format, it was a great experience for us !! Before we knew it Darren sent us an email stating our transfers were done, and at a very reasonable cost, so we drove back to pick them up, Again! Darren took the time to show me how to use the thumb drive to transfer my music to a computer, which most people don't do now days! We Will Be Using Round and Wound In the Future, for all our old tapes! We Can't Say Thank You Enough to Darren and Brian for Their Hospitality and the Great Work they did for Us! Thank You !! I happened to recently find an old cassette tape dating back to 1991-92 that had a handful of songs that an old band of mine were in the process, (but never finished) recording. It was so messed up, I thought for sure there was no hope in bringing it back to life. That is until I made the wise decision of contacting "Round and Wound"! Not only did Darren fix it, but he also transferred it to a USB thumb drive for me as well. Great place, great work (and fast) great guy! Also, the pricing was more than fair. Thank you once again. read more

Top notch studio equipment, and very knowledgeable engineers. Brian and Darren are the best. So glad I found them. Was worth the extra effort and time to have them handle all my master reels. Would highly suggest if you have tapes you need digitized to go here. read more

I messaged them with some random tape machine related questions and they replied very quickly, politely, and seemed more than happy to help. It was obvious through our conversation that these guys are passionate about what they do and that they truly want to help people, not just make money! A rarity to find in 2019 Los Angeles (unfortunately). If you require this type of service, don't second guess or even hesitate to choose them for the job! read more

Brian is awesome. He is extremely knowledgable and kind. He took great care of my audio material and explained the process. He was accommodating, professional and friendly. Most importantly, through his wonderful work, he was able to transfer audio treasures that I didn't even realize existed from very old tapes. My mother lost her voice in a tragic brain hemorrhage twenty years ago. Because of Brian and Round and Wound, I have been able to hear my mother again, clearly and as vivacious and lively as I remember her. Now I can have my nine year old hear his grandmother and experience what she used to be like. Thank you so much Brian! read more

Anyone who recorded audio in a studio or at home before the year 2000 needs this service. Reel to reel tapes, cassettes and other analog media are digitized to bring them into the 21st century for you to share or save for posterity. I am very happy with the outcome which was flawless. So far I taken in 10" and 7" reels and all have come back perfectly digitized. I highly recommend. Pricing was reasonable too. read more

I love Brian & Round And Wound. They did a very unique tape transfer project for me and were very professional and inexpensive comparatively. I was amazed to find out what a background he has in music & sound recording, considering how modest he is. So much cool equipment & history in there! Brian provides a great niche service for tape transfer. Just one of the many magic things about living in LA - he's a gem! Lucky to have stumbled upon them! Thanks again Brian! ;) read more

My wife and are soon to have our 30th wedding anniversary. We had old VHS tapes from our wedding and raising our kids. We are making a movie of our 30 years together and wanted this footage in our movie. The tapes were old with some tapes broken and reels not working right. Brian and Darren tenderly opened some of the cases and transferred the reels to new cases so they could be played and transferred to digital files. The price was very fair, the service was timely with a lot of communication back and forth about the details. Service like this is hard to find and if I could give them 6 stars i would. read more

Do not even hesitate about deciding who to trust your treasured memories (audio, visual) with. Brian and Darren really take great pride in transferring it all into usable, lasting form and seem genuinely happy doing it! I really felt my happiness was their goal by any means! Thanks guys for going ABOVE and BEYOND to do my very small, but very important (to me) job! read more

R&W is the best. Bottom line. This place does everything... reels, dats, cassettes, etc. I've been very impressed with the quality of these digital transfers. The owner and employees are friendly, down to earth and exceptionally knowledgeable. Also, best rates in town, by far. Can't say enough good things. So happy I found this spot. read more

Great, great place and people. They transferred some reel to reel tapes of my family a few months back and it was great experience all around.
