And Zoey did gorgeous natural glam for me and also helped my more senior mom with her makeup (my mom has alopecia and Zoey gave her beautiful false lashes and natural looking eyebrows). *Important note: I didn't do a trial* For my hair, I asked for more beachy curls, and specifically not a super polished curled look. Zoey did a gorgeous half pinned detail in the back, but the curls were far too tight and didn't look like the images I shared. She assured me she'd adjust to make the curls more relaxed but we ran out of time so I ended up having to do some fixing myself to get the look I wanted. I think she wasn't expecting my hair to take curls so well! Ultimately I was a bit disappointed that the hair wasn't totally what I wanted, but since I didn't do a trial and there was no time left for adjustments to be made, I made peace with it. We get makeovers 1-3 times a year from Nordstrom, Sephora and MAC....... But we've never been taught how to implement the techniques the artist as using. They might tell us what to do but it's in one ear, out the other. Ana's approach is a multi learning process. She tells you what to do and why, teaches you how to do it on someone, then she involves you in the process by having you try this technique for yourself. She's there to give guidance and feedback along the way. Classes are small and cozy (4 people). Ana has a warm, sweet personality and it was lovely to spend time with her. Unfortunately, once I got home, I also noticed that blue shampoo had been left around my ears, which was disappointing and something I would have expected to be checked before I left the salon. I had my eyelashes done at a place nearby (Kinjou Lashes) so I did not do anything related with lashes. Karin asked me several questions related to my skin type, the jewellery I would wear with my outfit, and was open to any specific requests that I had. To be quite honest, I'm a make-up newbie so I left all the creative decisions to Karin and she did great! My make up session went by really quickly (approx. 1 hour) and Karin was quite personable and chatty - it was like doing make-up with an old friend. She uses high quality products - unfortunately I can't name them all but it included MAC, yaby, YSL (the touche eclat) and her makeup brushes were high-quality & soft. She was also nice enough to put together a mini touch up kit for my lips that I could use later in the evening after dinner (she thinks ahead!). Overall - it was quite fun & Karin was great.
