A nice gentleman came by and gave me a quote of $945!!! (I think that was the exact amount) to lift and reset the toilet. I could not believe what I heard. After he called his supervisor to try to give me a discount, I got a quote of $650. I still felt that was too much so I told him I will look for other quotes. I called two other plumbing companies. After describing the problem, one gave me an estimate over the phone for around $350. The other company I called came by and gave me a quote (and did the work) for $384. (Also, when I searched on the internet for the average cost for that kind of work, the amount I paid was consistent with the average price.) Please note: The reason I had only called AJ Perri, without calling other plumbers to compare quotes, is because I used AJ Perri twice in the past and their prices were reasonable and the technicians were very nice and competent. But this time I was shocked by that incredibly high quote, so I had to end up calling others. That's too bad for them!

So I use Yelp a lot (like 500+ reviews a lot) but always for restaurants. I tried finding a plumber as I wanted reliable, local and small business with great reviews and many star ratings. I also wanted honest and trustworthy as I was asking someone to go into my elderly parents house to do a home repair that I would normally complete for them. Guilt! The Yelp search distribution was a great service and Proficient responded quickly and gained my confidence with our phone call. My parents and their caregiver were comfortable with the employee and the cost was reasonable and met my expectations. Proficient Plumbing is now in my phone contacts for any future needs.

My landlord decided to contact her warranty company,they sent out the most obnoxious guy who said NJNG did not know what they were talking about and he claimed he fixed it. Two days later the furnace rattled, whistled and popped. So again our heat had to be turned off. Then the warranty co had these two guys who didn't speak English, did not know where to look for the problem, and promptly said, "no good".I, in frustration went on my FB page, saw Brown's Heating, Cooling and Plumbing and wrote them explaining the situation. That SAME day, I got a response from Doug Brown who put me in touch with Paul Keator, who then came over THAT afternoon, and looked at it and agreed with NJNG....he told us we could have a new furnace in 2 days, which as of today has come true. Their quote and cost was even $1000 less than NJNG's quote. The techs came at 9am this morning, they were professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. Thank you to Doug for replying to my cry for help and for Paul and his help, and to the techs who came out today.....you all are great and you deserve an A+ rating.

He was also able to advocate for the work to both of our insurance providers, and though this ultimately wasn't successful, I still very much appreciated the thought that went into the very sound structural proposal. I can also say that both Tommy and Matthew dealt with me as a very frustrated customer in the beginning, largely due to previous interactions from other companies that were not helpful or responsive. Even still - they were able to calmly analyze the problem and suggest a permanent fix that should be stable for years to come. Also, a huge thanks to the whole crew of guys who left at 830 pm, after being here since 9am working nonstop to get as much done as soon as possible. I'm sure that the rain and snow melt didn't help! I was initially quoted $1,100 for hydro‑jetting a kitchen line and $425 for snaking. After the technician spoke with the owner, the price was slightly reduced, but it was still far above typical rates in New Jersey.There was also an additional $50 service charge that wasn't included in the job cost, which is not standard practice. All companies I have dealt with include that fee as part of the job if you approve the work.They also charged $225 to replace the sink cup (basket strainer), a simple part that normally runs $90-$180 total with installation in NJ. Again, the work was good, but the pricing is consistently on the very high side. If money is not an issue, I recommend this company for their professionalism and quality of work. I would have given more stars if not for the pricing. In my opinion, the overall cost structure feels like a rip‑off.
