The Hollywood Rotary Park is a 17 acre sports park facility near the Yellow Green Market. It has eight lighted baseball fields, five batting cages, a clubhouse, shade-covered playground with artificial turf, boat ramp, pavilion, and catwalk. The park is filled nightly with baseball practice for a feeder system for local middle and high school teams. Hollywood kids are playing on the same fields their parents grew up playing on. I found the park to be a great place to safely walk for exercise.
Rotary was started Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney who formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on February 23, 1905 so professionals with different backgrounds could exchange ideas and form lifelong friendships. Through the years Rotary expanded to include humanitarian missions. Today Rotary International is a network of 1.4 million people who work together to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and protect the environment.
The Hollywood Rotary Club was founded in 1925 and they have been raising money for college scholarships for Hollywood high school seniors and supporting local youth organizations since 1958. The Rotary Park established this park for the the youth of Hollywood in 1981. read more
