During my visit, I easily found a parking spot that was close by. My dog Olive does not have an energetic or outgoing personality, but she enjoyed meeting the other dogs and people, all of whom were very friendly. The ground is a fairly large size, so dogs can sprint across the field and get good exercise if they want to do so. A downside was that the recent rainy weather made the ground muddy, and I saw a small amount of poop that another dog owner had left behind. The ground is hilly, so the lower elevations were, of course, muddier. A pavilion with picnic tables was available. Please note that the park's rules require that dogs be supervised, be licensed and vaccinated, and wear tags. Overall, this dog park helped my Olive to slightly build her confidence and social skills, and I plan to bring her back in the future.

When a couple of large dogs got her ball, I went down the hill to find it. Both the dogs jumped up on me and one scratched my chin. Later, my wife went to fetch the ball and she was scratched in the face. The owners blamed us for bringing a ball into the park and tempting their dogs (comparing it to a piece of meat) with the ball. We have never encountered this before in any dog park in any location across the country. 2 men and one woman were both yelling at us and telling us to leave the park. It was a very unpleasant experience. They also told us to go back to California. We are moving for retirement and to live near our daughter and her husband. I am 70 and my wife is 68. The behavior on the part of other dog owners was uncalled for and abusive. We often visit dog parks and have made many friends over the years in the parks where we used to live. We also enjoy going to new parks and enjoying the extra space that is available in less urban environments. This is a very nice park, we only have an issue with owners who have limited viewpoints about normal behavior like playing fetch with a beloved pet.

Paws on the Run offers two separate parks, one for the small breeds and the other for the larger kinds. It's spacious and allows your pet the opportunity to run off all that energy while maintaining the safety of your animal and others since it's securely fenced in. They also have a double entrance for extra protection and to avoid a possible escape. Prior to adopting our dog Bella we never took our other dogs to the park since they are Chihuahuas and we have a small area of our own yard fenced that is suitable to their exercise needs. But with a larger pet this park is really a great place to allow her some outdoor leash freedom. The park was built in 2010 as a gift from a local family. I understand they have done a decent amount of updates over the years, like plant trees, provide benches, a dog pool for warmer months, outdoor water source for drinking water as well as some tunnels for agility activities. The park is open year around but with all the rain we have been having the park is a bit of a mud pit. I am excited to take our girl here in the spring and summer months. There are a list of rules patrons of the park are to adhere by but it seems at least one is not exactly being followed. I noticed a LOT of dog doo. I wish pet owners would be more disciplined in cleaning up after their pets. It's not only gross it can spread diseases. Otherwise it's a great park for our furry friends.

I'm sure this park will have even more great features as time goes on since it seems quite new. I'm so happy that I found it! Our lab is sure to have some great playtime adventures here.

The bathrooms are close by the camp sites and clean! Plus they have hot water for showering. The water pump for drinking water is fresh and better than my tap at home. The lake is so nice and the ice cream stand is the best (bring cash). Definitely recommend booking the camp sites closest to the trail that takes you to the beach. It's about a 15 minute hike, but so much nicer than driving 15 minutes to the beach.

I've been visiting this place for years and had met many kind, friendly and helpful fellow visitors. I cannot say the same for that ranger - I hope y'all never come across her in your effort to find clarity on directions. My favorite areas of Raccoon Creek are the beach and the mineral springs. When the area water levels aren't low, you'll also see a beautiful 10 foot waterfall adjacent to Frankfort Mineral Springs. The beach is lovely in all seasons, but if you can catch it during the peak of Fall foliage. The many colors of the trees reflecting from the lake surface is quite the sight! There's a boat rental and the rates are very reasonable. There's also a very large picnic area with dozens of tables, plenty of parking and restrooms.
