The trail is Pennsylvania 'flat' as it was an old railroad route. If you want to get technical, there are some slopes to the trail, but nothing steep. They're just gradual enough to let you know you're tired of peddling 'up'. You can catch the trail at any road crossing, some have way better parking space than others, like the two ends. There are a several benches and picnic tables along the route, so you can take a load off or have a snack. The trash you bring in, you take back out with you... So bring a garbage bag if you have a group. The scenery is mostly green, with a creek usually close by. If you start in Butler, the trail is about quad width, generally it gradually increases in width until you reach Freeport where it's wide and paved. You pass a store on your left called Derailer's just after crossing a red wooden bridge. About 30 mins after starting in Butler. Just down the path after the store, the trees open up and you ride through the golf course (Serene). If you're thirsty for a beer you can head up to their little restaurant and get a bottle of beer, no drafts. They also serve BAR food if you forgot to pack a snack, shame on you. A few parts of the trail get dicey after a hard rain. So be aware... They do have small signs warning of rough trail ahead. That's nice of them.

I suggest starting at the Freeport end of the trail and parking at the trailhead in Laneville right near the Freeport bridge. You can go under route 28 and all the way up into Butler. On the way back your last 5 miles will be a nice gradual downhill slope all the way back into Laneville. There's only one place to stop for refreshments on the trail and that is it the old Herman post office. If you go all the way into Butler, the trailhead is only minutes away from the hotdog shop on Monroe Street, if you're looking to replace burned-up calories, it's a great place to go!

It seemed like everyone else had the same plan! Get there early to secure a close parking slot, otherwise, you'll be circling for a while or parking down towards the picnic area. The trail entrance to head down to the mill by the picnic area is currently closed off for stair repairs. They had staff down at the mill sharing a bit of the history to go along with all of the photos and signs with information throughout. The trail was perfectly shaded, mossy, and cool right along the river. I can't wait for my next visit.

If you live in Pittsburgh or are just visiting the area, McConnells Mill is one of the best day…read moretrips around. It's only about 40 miles north up I-79, so it's an easy drive from the city, but it feels like a completely different world once you get down into the gorge. I've been going there for years with friends and family, and it became my go-to spot to take people when they would visit from out of town. Everyone always loves checking out the historic old gristmill and the red covered bridge right next to it. It's a great, classic view, and if you go during the summer, they usually open up the mill for tours so you can see how it all used to work. The hiking there is fantastic, too, with a good mix of trails depending on what you're up for. You can take a pretty easy walk back to Hell's Hollow Falls, or you can tackle the rougher, rockier trails that run right along Slippery Rock Creek. You definitely want to wear sturdy shoes because the terrain gets steep and the rocks get slick, but the scenery with the rushing whitewater and massive boulders is totally worth it. It's just a beautiful, simple place to get outdoors for a few hours. Whether you want a challenging hike or just want to sit by the water and look at the old bridge, it never disappoints.

Taking him there has gotten him on a more social level than just running around our yard. Also I can walk him around the park and let him be as active as he should be. Thank you for making a special place for our furry friends. They deserve it! Jade's Dog Park is truly a blessing for all dog parents . Thank you very much for caring about the special creatures in our lives

Food They have a snack bar with the typical food you would expect (hotdogs, nachos, pretzels, popcorn) you can purchase a cup and/or a popcorn bucket for $5 a piece and get refills all summer for $1. Pool The pool is amazing! Perfect place to bring children with two kids areas. The have a small rock climbing wall in the deep end by the diving boards. Three slides, one of which is very tall. Children 12 and under can take a swim test to be allowed to swim in the deep end and go on the diving boards and rock climbing wall. You are allowed to bring floating things like noodles etc. which was really nice. You can only bring goggles that don't have the nose part (scuba goggles?) regular goggles are okay. The deep end is 5ft and the diving area is 12ft. I believe I saw that they rent out life vests for children and they also sell swimming diapers. Adult Swim Depending on how you feel about this it will either be good or bad. At the start of every hour they make all of the children get out of the pool for 15 minutes. The only people allowed in the pool are adults and children under 5 who are accompanied by an adult within arms reach. Seating They have chairs that you can use with foot rests and little tables but you have to get here pretty early to get one unless you see someone leaving you can take theirs. I would recommend bringing chairs and blankets to sit and relax on. There is plenty of space to spread out and not be right next to someone else on the grass. They have a few covered areas that you can set up at if there is space left. They also have 2 covered picnic table areas with 4 picnic tables (although I'm sure those fill up fast) Parks We don't have children so we didn't go to the parks but it looked like there was a lot to do and that it was well maintained. Crowds We went on a Sunday and there were a lot of people there but it didn't feel "crowded". We had to wait in line to get snacks but when we wanted a drink or popcorn refill there was a separate line which was nice. Conclusion- we will defiantly be back it was a great day!

Trails for walking/hiking/running. Plenty of parking. Park is well maintained. I like going here for a good walk or run. The park is big enough that if you go from one end to the other it's around 3 miles. The paths are paved and there are a few different paths you can take to loop around but don't miss the Brush Creek Trail. It's a short hike with info on the local ecosystem along the way. There are a few inclines but no crazy elevation. Would also be a good place for a bike ride though I haven't done that yet. Graham Park is one of my favorite go-to parks when I'm near Cranberry and looking for an easy change of scenery from my local park. This is a small park, but great place for bird watching and for special events…read more They have bird watching every Thursday at 9 a.m. Recently, the class spotted an Indigo Bunting and a King Bird. They have a tall "tower" (on the edge of the parking lot), a project to encourage Swallows to nest and have babies. They even have instructions if you want to build one at home. The park features two ponds, one near the entrance, across from the parking lot. Lined with willows and other trees, it's a pretty place for picnicking. Straight past the insanely tiny (holds about 10-12 cars) parking lot, is a tented area for special events. To the right of the parking lot is Marcraig House. It's a beautiful, old stone house, now used for special events. It's great for entertaining wedding or vow renewal guests...a perfect place for cocktails. There's a huge, old barn just behind the house, now used for storage. Beyond that, is a cute, quaint, little cottage, which is largely used for a catering office. I peered inside, and immediately thought it would be a great bed & breakfast place for a bridal couple to stay after the wedding. It has a small, abandoned greenhouse attached, apapparently growing a nice little crop of weeds.
