See my photo below of the menu with a description of the three wines. We liked all of them. NOTE: You can no longer bring your own food as I wrote about six years ago, but they offer a few things listed under "Bar Snacks". We ordered the cheese, crackers and olives for $18. After our tasting we shared an Italian wine recommended by Jeff who is the owner. We all really liked that. It was a Sandro Fay "Valgella" Valtellina Superiore 2021. I'd definitely buy that again. We arrived at 5:00 p.m. and were ready to head home at 8:00 p.m. which is their closing time. The wines we tasted will be available tonight or January 24, 2026 as well. read more

Rosso wine shop is our favorite!! We love having a spot in Montrose where we can stop in for a $12 wine flight. The flight is different each week and always exciting! The staff are so friendly, kind, and very approachable! We love bringing a card game and spending an hour there on a Friday or a Saturday. Appreciate a variety of low cost bottles but it doesn't seem they have a very large selection overall. Many of the most interesting bottles advertised were nothing but empty racks. The person working wasn't very friendly either. They seemed to be annoyed they were now sharing space with a sandwich shop and extra people in the store but that is not Yula's issue read more

What a gem. If your a fan of great wine, this is the spot for your to enjoy. Such a large selection of all kinds of different wines from all the European and most of all Italian wines. What was so impressive was the knowledge from the employee on several different wines, and most of all the hospitality. Thank you. On fridays and Saturday's nights at 5 pm to 8 pm they have a vino tasting evening event,witch I would recommend that you come out and try a variety of different Vino's. Now there are a few eating establishments around that are also very good to dine in. This wine shop deserves zero stars. My husband went into this shop to purchase two bottles of one, (one ended up being corked and thrown out), with two of his friends. Jeff, the owner's unprofessional and hostile wife was at the cash register and upon taking his payment said, "no tip?" And let out a loud sigh. My husband walked away and after his two male friends purchased other things, he went up to the owner, Jeff with his wife standing in ear shot and stated simply, "I don't appreciate being questioned about giving a tip". The wife immediately started yelling at him, "get the F**k out of here". My husband has many friends who used to purchase large quantities of wine and participate in wine tastings that will never go back now. After he and his two friends walked out of this shop, Jeff, the owner came out and persisted to say in a nasty manner, "What did you say to my wife?" My husband responded, "I didn't even speak to your wife, I spoke to you only inside and your wife was standing right next to you". All of this was observed by two other friends who now refuse to give this shop anymore business as well as many others who were regulars. Now the owner is claiming in a response to my husband's review that he has a history of being difficult which is a load of crap. This owner needs to pull his head out of his a** and realize that his wife at the register was out of line and has no business treating a paying customer like crap. He needs to put on his manly husband boots, remove the whip his wife has over him, and apologize for being unprofessional, hostile and arrogant. This shop will never survive treating customers like this. What idiots! read more

I think this is the best wine store in the entire Los Angeles area. It's a mystery to me why there is not a line around the block to get in. They specialize in high-quality wine from small producers, not the ridiculously overpriced bottles you would find at a fine restaurant (although they do have some expensive ones), but the really good stuff at reasonable prices that's so hard to find in America (the store has a distinctive European vibe, although they also sell Californian wine). The prices are very reasonable for the quality (they have some good bottles under $15, many under $20, and the selection under $30 is amazing). The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Whether you go there for a bottle or a tasting (on weekend nights), I seriously doubt you will be disappointed. read more

My fiancee and I dropped by Rosso for the first time in January. It was such a cute little place, and we decided to check it out. Wine shops have always intimidated me because I didn't know much about wine, and wine shop owners usually love to lord their knowledge over you instead of learning your tastes to help you find something that you will like. Not so, with Rosso Wine Shop. Jeff and Lisa immediately won us over. They are down-to-earth, very approachable and somehow have this amazing intuition when it comes to helping their customers find the perfect wine for whatever mood they might be in. They've chosen a wonderful mix of wines from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and California... something for every budget, mood and taste is here. After our first trip there for a wine tasting we were hooked! We go there nearly every Friday night for tastings and buy at least one bottle of wine. The selection is wonderful and not too expensive. I particularly have fallen in love with the selection of Spanish wines! The tastings are never overcrowded or too noisy and vibe is always friendly and relaxed. We've met many wonderful people there. They recently expanded to the space next door and this has really magnified the charm of the place. The giant rustic table set into the new space is great for Rosso's supper clubs and special tastings paired with bites from wonderful chefs like those from On The Lamb. When we planned a vacation to the Santa Ynez Valley wine country, Jeff and Lisa gave us so many great tips on where to taste and eat. Thanks to those tips our trip was amazing! Great place with fabulous wines and reasonable prices. I would like to give this five stars but I had a bad experience with the owner's wife. I bought a bottle of wine which I consumed with a friend and then bought two more to take home. When confronted with the bill I declined to tip (which was a mistake on my part) but was unpleasantly confronted by this woman with an abrasive comment about my failure to tip. When I confronted her husband/owner about the inappropriateness of her comment she went crazy on me and threatened me with the police as I left the store. The owner understandably wanted to defend his wife and accused me of saying something to her to upset her but I explained that the only thing I did to upset her was to complain to him. My friends were appalled with her behavior, I kept saying to him do you realize the consequences of this behavior -- we are the customers and we will never return and we will tell our friends and they will never return and we will write a bad review as well, Seems crazy to me. I have little to lose other than a bad experience but I suspect they will lose enough business to make this a poor choice in behavior. read more

Went here for a cheese cracking party produced jointly with Milk Farm of Eagle Rock. The wines we tasted with the cheese were pretty good, and they seem to have a small, but quality selection of wines. I actually prefer that setup, as too many choices can be overwhelming. There are some decent bargain wines, though $10 a bottle is about the minimum you should expect to pay. I was somewhat disappointed that they did not have crackers or some other snack/palate cleanser-- at least during the cheese cracking. Size does not matter when it comes to this wine shop. This quaint little shop has a very unique and thoughtful collection of wines. I always feel like I am at home with Lisa and Jeff. There is a little selection of gourmet food items in the back. the best thing is if you purchase some wine here, and the restaurant next door, Bashan, will not charge corkage when they see your bottles were purchased here. This place is great if you want an introduction to wine or learn about unusual grapes. The owners Jeff and Lisa have a great knowledge of all the wines they carry... and they carry a lot. They mostly concentrate on French, Spanish and Italian wines, but still carry a great selection on California wine. Wine tastings are every Friday and Saturday. On Saturday, JD and I popped into the Rosso Wine Shop in Glendale/Montrose. Owner Jeff Zimmitti's weekend offerings were obscure enough that we had to stop by. We like Rosso - it's small and unpretentious, and Jeff takes the wine seriously, focusing on Italy, France, Spain, and California with an eye toward one's budget. Lots of wines for under $25 here - great values. Most of the notes here are Jeff's: 2010 Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas Blanc - OK, so not SO obscure. We're big fans of Tablas Creek, and tasted this wine earlier this year at the Rhone Rangers Los Angeles event in August. We still like it a lot. (89 Points: Wine Advocate) The 2010 Patelin de Tablas Blanc (50% Grenache Blanc, 33% Viognier, 10% Roussanne, 7% Marsanne) shows the richness of Grenache Blanc in its white peaches, flowers and jasmine. It is a beautifully delineated white, as well as a terrific value. 2008 Cantina Damiano Ciolli Cesanese Silene Lazio - Made with 100% Cesanese (native to the area), this vineyard is planted on volcanic soils with a small amount of clay, cultivated in a very restricted area 20 miles east of Rome. The nose was pure barnyard - in the best way! One sniff and you know you're not in California anymore. Bright red cherry fruit is livened by the brisk acidity and backend spice. Loved this wine! Bought a bottle to try later. $19.99 2010 Edmunds St John Rocks and Gravel - Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. Seductively perfumed bouquet of red berries, cherry, minerals and dried flowers; smells like a Burgundy. Understated strawberry and raspberry flavors are deep but lively, with zesty minerality adding urgency. Impressively pure. Gotta say, Jeff's notes are right on. Beautiful wine. I like wine but I don't know enough about wine to review it intelligently here. All I can say is that the tastings I had were ones I enjoyed. One thing I can speak to is the atmosphere at this place. A friend and I didn't intend to come here. We were early for our dinner reservations at Bashan and thought we'd kill the time here. I think this was about the fourth or fifth tasting I've had here. Obviously, I really like the place since I keep coming back. I always try the $10 weekend flights. This weekend was a trio of ecletic Italian grape varieties which were unique and educational. Rosso now offers a few wines by the glass. It's a nice addition, but doesn't seem like a very good deal. I fully understand that wines by the glass in restaurants typically are a cash cow, but this is a wine store where the wines by the glass are to tempt the drinker to buy. Think about this. Rosso is selling a wine by the bottle for $10, but by the glass it is $8. Although the selection of wines to buy is limited, I like that they always have plenty of affordable bottles. So many wine stores carry $30+ bottles which isn't good for everyday people and everyday drinking. A high percentage of Rosso's wines are under $20. Now that's smart pricing. read more

Think of Rosso's as a bistro cafe for wine. Sit on the sidewalk, or at the tasting bar, or other seats throughout. Wine is displayed simply around the double wide shop (recent expansion), mainly by region. Jeff and girlfriend Lisa are relaxed, kick backed types with plenty of knowledge. Wines for all tastes, and you can spend some money there, but a lot of value wines. Jeff really likes to show the values he has found in all regions. Last weekends tasting flight was value Italian wines. This weekends were French. (I am now on a weekly afternoon tasting kick at Roso's) Flight is three wines for $10. I have been introduced to quite a few new wines, all in the $8 - $12 range (ship hasn't come in yet..), from France, Italy, Spain, Paso & Napa. We headed straight for a tasting at Rosso's. We tried 3 delicious California wines. This week we went again for some old world favorites. (Fridays and Saturdays they have wine tastings.) The owner poured our wines and told us about each one. The owners, Jeff and Lisa, are so sweet and welcoming and unpretentious. The shop itself is loaded with great wine and the prices are very fair. What an adorable place. My friends and I are starting to have wine night pretty regularly now, so I decided it was time for me to step up my wine game. Because I am a wine dumb-dumb, though, I knew I needed some help and found Rosso on Yelp. I went in Saturday morning and Tom (I think, sorry if I'm getting the name wrong) was there and so helpful! I told him what kind of wine I normally drink and what i'm interested in and he made some recommendations and let me taste a couple he had open. I ended up buying three bottles of wine and can't wait for our next wine night to open them and try them out! The shop itself is cute with a dutch door out front and a little tasting counter inside. The wines have descriptions and ratings and seem to be arranged by price so that no matter what your process is, it's easy to zero in on what you're looking for.
