They forgot they said they were going help me get a rare bottle of whiskey and lost my contact information. Oh well.

I used to go there years ago and recently returned and was received warmly and treated so beautifully after an absence , so many exquisite wines and specialty wines during the tastings. read more

I've been coming to Le Petit Vendome off and on for the past few years after a coworker/self-described wine snob mentioned that "they actually have some decent wines there". It's the perfect place to pick up that last minute bottle of wine as a gift without the bottle screaming Trader Joe's. (You know what I mean?) It's also a great place to widen your wine horizons. For example: every time I watch "Sideways", I'm inspired to try one of the many wines mentioned by name in the movie. Last time, it was Sea Smoke Pinot Noir, which led me to the best bottle of Pinot I've ever had in my life. It was hiding in the cellar of Le Petit Vendome btw; don't forget to ask if you don't see a bottle that you're looking for on the floor. Their tastings have the unique feature of pay as you go, rather than paying a set fee for three pours for example. It's a great idea and puts you, the drinker, in charge of your own tasting, within the limits of the bottles they've opened. Last time, there were 15 different wines to choose from. This way you can truly have the tasting of your choice rather than simply settling for whatever was on the vintner's mind that day. Check here for their schedule: http://www.lepetitvendome.com/tasting.html Wonderful large private parking lot in the back. Cheers! read more

My first time in the store. Very knowledgeable staff and nice selection. I kick myself for not going into the store years ago. Also, they have an awesome wine tasting on Fri and Saturday. Parking is easy in the back. This is probably why I have avoided going into the store earlier - I thought parking would be a hassle. You have a new customer! read more

Awesome selection of wine and liquor, especially high end and rare stuff. The beer selection is a bit small but they usually have a few interesting craft beers to choose from. The people there are always super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, not at all pushy. It's not what I would call a discount store, but if you're looking for something special, this place fits the bill. read more

When I need some advice on what beverage to buy, this is the place I run to. They are a great source of information. I'll usually walk in there asking for a white wine, fermented in steel, and costing no more than $20. They always pick out some great wines for me. A few years ago, I wanted to buy Scotch as a present for someone but I had no idea where to begin. I am not a scotch drinker, so when the guy asked me.."single malt, blended malt?" I was like..."huh?". So he proceeded to ask what my friend likes to drink. I took a lucky guess and said "maybe Crown?" (that's cause my dad use to drink that and that was the only nice scotch I knew). So he chose a great Single Malt Abelour, which was within my price range. It definitely made my friend very happy. They also have tastings several times a week. I've only been to a Sake tasting. The sushi was horrible, but I was able to try 8 different kinds of Sakes for $20 and went home a little drunk and with 2 bottles as well. They have many different types of tastings; beer, wine, scotch, etc and they always offer it with food. Give them your email address and they will send you tasting menus every week. 5 Stars for their service, selection, and tastings, but 3 stars for their prices (some can be expensive..but you can find things under $20)..So round that up to 4 stars!! read more

Me.no.likey. Wine is too expensive here and the people are pretty much not helpful and sometimes even rude. BOO! read more

My friend and I went to a scotch tasting event. Wow! I was amazed at the history and variety of the different types and flavors of scotch. The presenter was from Scotland and knew everything from the location, the different types of grains, the distillation process and the various blends of scotch that we sampled. If you are looking for a specific type of wine, scotch or anything else check this place out,you won't be disappointed! read more

Worst wine tasting ever. Do not go here! No explanation of the wines we were tasting. Crackers that had been sitting out for who knows how long and who knows how many hands had been in the crackers. Water bottle sitting out for who know how long. The staff was more interested in getting you to the cash register and out the door. read more

I was on a hunt - a hunt for framboise lambic beer - and it led me here. Thank god for little specialty stores like this in La Canada! I've never actually had to purchase framboise on my own, usually someone is nice enough (i.e. suckered into) to bring me a bottle. So, when I had a craving for some over the weekend, I had no idea where to go. Ralphs? Don't bother looking here. Vons? Puahahaha...if it's not at Ralphs, it's not gonna be at Vons. That wine/spirits place at the intersection of Foothill and Angeles Crest that I see all the time but never walked into? That's the place to go! The guy who runs the place was super helpful and seemed knowledgeable enough about all types of alcoholic beverages. When I first said "framboise", he led me to the liquor section, but after some clarification about me wanting a beer rather than a raspberry liquor, he took me to their fridge filled with lambics. My hunt for framboise? SUCCESS! read more

3.5 It's hard for me to give this place 4 stars mainly due to their pricing. Wine shopping for me is like grocery shopping. There are a few staple wines i like to buy and i know what they sell for. I found the pricing here to be about $5 or more per bottle. They do have a decent selection of wines, spirits / liquor, champagne, and other libations. I walked in looking for an Italian wine as a gift for a friend. The lonesome staff member acknowledge me and helped me with selecting a wine within my budget. I tend to walk wine stores thoroughly to check out their selection and pricing just in case i wanna come back and buy some wine. They also do have a tasting area and a cigar room. If i had an abundance of spending money, i would shop here regularly but i don't. read more

For the selection they offer its very limited but they do sell alcohol I'll give them that, but for some reason I didn't enjoy the service or pricing, the lighting isn't the best and as I said the amount of products they offer isn't much of a selection, I have walked in here a couple times and had to walk out because I purchased the same bottle elsewhere 5-10 bucks cheaper, that's not a whole lot but it's enough to keep buying from where I do.... read more

What a cool little gem I was introduced to last night. I was looking for some Soju for a party gift and found a cool selection in the place. I will follow up with more as I plan to get into some of the tastings they do. read more

Their pricing is a little stiff, but their selection is very good. Special hard to find aged liquors, a great selection of Belgian beers and microbrews. They even have those seasonal beers that are tough to find other places. Better than average wine selection too. This place isn't quite a Bevmo, but they have a decent selection and Ray is always helpful in helping you find what you need. A+ for customer service. Stogies too! Lots of cigars if you're into that thing. It's not worth coming to this place if you live somewhere else but if you live in North Glendale, La Crescenta, La Canada, Altadena and don't want to drive to Bevmo! then this is your place. read more

I love this liquor/wine/cigar store. Staff are knowledgable and helpful. Selection is fantastic.

We've attended the cocktail class series featuring pre-prohibition drinks. "One-eyed Willie" aka Dean was a fabulous instructor and Lynn, the consummate hostess. Hope to see additional lessons offered. read more

Visited here for first time in a couple years and it reminded me of why I don't come here. Customer service: extremely weak. Decent selection, but once you find the thing you came in to get, they'd rather get you right to the cash register than answer questions, like the follow-up I had about getting a whiskey recommendation. No interest in assisting at all. The tall skinny guy seemed more interested in talking to his friend at the bar area. read more

I'm coming to Le Petit Vendome not to compare prices with other liquor stores or to get cheap liquor. I'm coming to LPV to get good service, which is very hard to get at any liquor store. Even more difficult to get is good advice, suggestions based on descriptions of what you like. I've always got great service from Lynn, who's always helpful. If I need to ask for suggestions, Ray is the king! He never missed and will always bring that "wow factor" whenever I brought Ray's suggestions to friend's parties or get together. And, this "wow" just didn't happen one time, it happened so many times and always. It made me think that Ray also knows what my friends' preferences. You don't believe me? Give it a try. Check their calendar. They'll have tastings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Cheers! read more

Lynn and Ray are expert at giving good wine suggestions. Ever since we attended our first tasting we have been relying on their good taste (pun intended) and clever choices. There is always a great crowd at the Wed., Fri. and Sat. tastings because all the regulars know they are in for a relaxing evening, good alcohol selections and new knowledge. read more

actually I'll give this place 3.5 stars. as a wine shop, it was only average... although they do have a harge variety. Granted this place is the only wine shop in La Canada, I think this is actually a pretty cool shop. They sell cigars, wine, beer, and cheeses. One big thing, however, that annoys me is that their cheese selection is so limited i think i could get a better selection at Albertsons or Trader Joes. Also, they only carry cheap dessert wines (not that I only drink the expensive stuff.... but i would expect them to carry a bit of eveyrthing considering it IS after all a wine specialty shop). well... I will attend one of their wine tastings soon... i'll write more once I do that. keep in mind, by the way, that there are 2 store locations... one in Pasadena and one in La Canada. just so you know. read more

Went to this location a couple months ago. I've been to the North Hollywood location many times prior and I thought they would be on par. Horrible mistake. I bought a 6 pack of Stone Delicious, It's only until I got home that I noticed MOLD on the outside of the bottles. I think hmm, it's on the outside, no biggie and wipe them down. I start drinking one and notice there is a bunch of stuff floating in the beer and it tasted horrible. I pour it out and try another. Only this time I roll it like a Blue Moon thinking it's settlement. Wrong. I'm not saying there was mold inside but it wasn't supposed to be in there. Fast forward to today, It's hot and I figured I'd give them a second chance and see if I can find some choice IPA's. Looking through their beer fridge, you can see mold forming on plenty of bottles. I still but a 6 pack of Sculpin and a pint of "Just Outstanding IPA". Normally I'd just drink it straight out of the bottle but this time I poured it into a new mug I got. The Glass it's self seemed fine aside from the head seeming pretty small. Then I look at the remained in the glass. Same floaty stuff in the bottle. And a bunch of it accumulating on the bottom. I haven't opened the Scuplins yet but I really hope they're not spoiled. NEVER AGAIN read more

Love this place ever since I attended a wine tasting event. Lyn and Ray are great especially in suggesting good wines. There is a great selection of wine, beer and cheese!!! My friend got her wedding souvenirs from this store too which was a very yummy chocolate that I forgot the name of. Anyway, try one of their tastings, just check their calendar of events and call to reserve a spot. read more

Definitely experienced better. Their selection is ok at best, but tthe store is very disorganized and chaotic that it turns into a mission to find what your looking for. read more

Le Petit Vendome is conveniently located across the street from my office. I frequent from time to time to see what new craft brews they have available. You can find a good variety of beers from a lot of the top breweries (Ballast Point, Green Flash, Russian River, Lagunitas, Stone, etc). The staff are always helpful and keep me updated with what is new and on the way. I'm a beer guy so I can't speak to their wine and liquor assortment, but wine is their specialty. 5-stars would have been given, but like others have mentioned their prices are slightly higher than others. Definitely a great stop if you're looking for hard to find craft brews in La Canada Flintridge. read more

Love their wine tastings every weekend, and wine classes on wednesday. Talk to the staff - tell them what you like and what you are looking for. They will help you find what you need. I've special ordered some Rum and others, and they always come through. read more

The worst wine tasting ever! Do NOT go. Should not be called "wine tasting". We were seated at a table, away from the bar and Ray put the sheet of wines in front of us with no explanations. We asked about the cheese plate for $3.00 and Ray called to Lynn to tell us about the cheese plate. However, she didn't. And bear in mind, we had not ordered a cheese plate, we had merely asked about it. She just slapped down a plate with a very few slices, cut in halves, of one type of cheese and said - it's compt'd. I repeated to make sure that she had said it was "compt'd", and she said yes. When we came to pay, she charged us for the cheese plate. I told her she had said it was compt'd and she replied "that was the name of the cheese!" Never again. That was not a wine tasting. Oh, and there was a quarter of a carafe of warm water that had been sitting on our table, for goodness knows how long, and he didn't even bother to bring a new one. Crackers had also been sitting out! Dreadful selection, worst service ever. read more

The neighborhood wine store every neighborhood should have. When we moved into the area all we knew about wine was that we like red more than white. Owner Lyn and her wine enthusiast/expert manager Ray took us by the hand and over the years gave us the most pain-free, joyous education we could have hoped for. The Friday/Saturday night wine tastings became the treat that got me through another week of work and our son began encouraging us to never miss one because we were "so much happier" when we did. Lynn always welcomes us like family and Ray's encyclopedic knowledge of wine and his memory for what we like has led us to wonderful discoveries in all price ranges. There's always opportunities for interesting conversations with new people at the tastings and we all get wittier as the evening goes along. While there are places you can find some wines for less, the advice, experiences and friendship we have found here are well worth a few extra bucks. This place and these people have improved the quality of our lives over the years and I toast them and wish them continued success. read more
