Love the deals on their weekly specials including Irish Whiskey, Vodka, Wine, Craft Beer (as well as Domestic & Imported) and more! Open seven days a week from 9AM til 8PM Monday through Saturday and from 11AM to 4PM on Sundays. Issa is the manager here and a hell of guy! All the staff are personable as well as helpful. There's a nice lot as well as plenty of street parking. Somewhat have always preferred Mission Wine & Spirits to BevMo aka Beverages & More, Total Wine & More, or similar chains. Mission still feels like the neighborhood choice, with incredible prices, deals and service to match. Becoming somewhat of a cigar aficionado in the past year plus, with some guidance from my significant other. We stopped in together today and did some browsing as well as shopping. Him for Vodka to have at his place and me to have whiskey at mine. I spend a lot of time in Glendale and though they have two great locations, this one is my top choice hands down. There's just something a little more intimate and thoughtful here. Lots of beverage accessories, gift items and various things here you'll enjoy. Once i went it it was aisles upon aisles of every liquor you can think of organized by type and in the back they have cooler doors with every chaser, beer and cocktail mixer you can think of. The variety of choices here is what keeps me coming back. They've had stuff I don't see anywhere else, even from mainstream brands or stuff I usually have to go an even more specialty store for. Examples like a variety box of "-196 vodka seltzer" and "On the Rocks Midori Sour". Not exclusive to this store but not particularly common either. They have low to high end stuff, and bottles/sets you can buy for gifts or yourself too. Plenty of wine and liquor, and a decent selection of mixers or add ons. The beer selection is somewhat limited. The encounters I have with the cashiers is brief, but that's appreciated, because the sale takes like 10 seconds to complete. They seem cool though. I have been coming here for years now and have spent thousands. I was even here yesterday buying a cognac and gift bag as this is where I always buy drinks from and occasionally buy cigars as well. Today I decide to go in and buy some smaller cigars and the worker pinged the cigar room door for me to go in. I usually spend 15-20 min looking at different cigars since I like trying new ones. One of the workers came inside the room a few minutes after I was inside. He then left and came back again a few minutes later and I could notice he's looking at me from the corner of my eye. I was starting to feel very uncomfortable. Because I knew he was there looking to see if I was gonna steal something which was obvious, I asked him "do people steal a lot?" He said yea they do. I get it, but I genuinely think there was a better way to make this situation less uncomfortable for your customer. Maybe don't let customers walk into your humidor without a worker from the beginning and let the customer know that it is policy for someone to be inside with you as they walk inside with you. Don't just send someone in there staring at everything you do and make you feel like a thief and make the environment feel uncomfortable. As a consistent loyal customer that has been coming there a lot and has spent a lot of money there, after today's experience I don't think I will ever come there again. And if the owner wants to speak to me I will gladly speak to you. read more

While driving the wifey back to work from our lunch date we drove by a newly opened wine & spirits shop. I wanted to see how this joint compared to my 2 fav shops (k&l and topline). As you walk in you notice the large room in the back enclosed in glass where they have some of the higher priced wines. Along the back wall you'll see large refrigerators similar to 7/11 with sodas, water, beer, wine, and champagne. Walking through the aisles i noticed their large selection and range of different vodkas, rum, whiskey, scotch, gin, tequila, and other fine spirits. They even have some interesting liquors from Armenia. I would give them 5 stars just for the spirits section but i have to include their wine. As far as their range and selection of wine, you can tell they cater more towards the general public. I did find a few gems inside the enclosed section but for the most part they shy away from carrying obscure small wineries but they do carry the big guns of napa which include opus, joseph phelps, rubicon, and a few others. I did see a few local wines (fiddlehead) from paso, lompoc, and los olivos. Their prices tend to be roughly $2-$5 more on certain items ive found at other shops. Now, they do have some items on sale that beat bevmo and a few other shops so its a give and take. read more

Just an update on how stellar their prices are: I needed some Kahlua for a cake. Stopped off at Ralph's and found 750 ml bottles for $15.99 Screw that. I headed home instead and swung by here. They were selling 1 liter bottles for $9.99! AND they had French Vanilla and Hazelnut in stock as well. They also carry my boyfriend's favorite beer, Paulaner Hefe, for $9.99 for a six pack. It's not as common as other Hefe's so it's always a little harder to find. I won't even tell you how much it was going for at Whole Foods. I heart you, Mission Wine! read more

Although, I made my purchase from browsing the aisles versus the sales circular. So, I did the girly thing and got the Frangelico Liqueur because it came with a scented candle. And I heard about MARTINI being amazing with some Raffaello. But how to make a martini..... 1/2 ounce MARTINI 3 ounces Jim Beam Shake to mix with ice. Pour into glass. Squeeze of orange or lemon peel and garnish. If you happen to get 90% proof Jim Beam, take Julia Child's advice and do the Reverse Martini: 1oz Jim Beam (gin/bourbon) 5oz MARTINI (vermouth) I rather drink and hangout around Southern California... However, everything is far away, and cabs get expensive. So, the reality of it is that I'm safer taking a drink at home (even if I'm a bad bartender). Cheers! read more

(Shopped 11/18/12 SU @ 10am and many times before): Your mission is to stop whining and raise your spirits when you shop here! Not that I needed a reason to shop here, but Groupon had an insane offer ($20.00 worth of merchandise for $10.00) to one of my favorite liquor stores in the San Fernando Valley, Mission Wine & Spirits. Anytime I can get a discount on alcohol, my arm doesn't need to be twisted! On this event-packed day of going across town and along the coast with a friend, this was our first stop of many. This Groupon was burning a hole in my pocket and we were in desperate need of some red wine (we drank the last bottle the other night). We arrived minutes after they opened (but there were already a couple customers there), headed straight to the red wine section and scanned the selection. Soon enough, we settled on a 2009 Chateau Cadillac French Bordeaux ($13.99) and a 2008 Masi Campofiorin Italian red wine ($12.99). Like a fat kid in a candy or cake store, I could have filled a shopping cart if they had any (just baskets) and restocked my wine bar and liquor cabinet. But I could have been there for hours then and hundreds of dollars in the hole! But as I must, I meticulously went down each aisle: wines of all varietals (even Armenian!), a plethora of gins, rums scotches, tequilas, whiskeys, vodkas, mixers, and then peered into the refrigerated section at the beers (I saw a 12-pack of Olympia beer; is that coming back, too, like PBR!?). Oh, I was nearly in tears as I left some many of these behind. You will find many times you won't see at a chain store like BevMo or grocery stores. And the wonderful thing was that their prices are very comparable and competitive. The service was great as everyone was cheerful and very accommodating to help with anything you need. IF you didn't see something they can usually place a special order. "Nuff said. Parking was fine since they had their own lot. However, if that is filled, free street parking is available along Glenoaks Blvd. and the surrounding side streets. Also, if you parked in the lot, I recommend exiting via the alley towards the closet side street. Traffic could be a bear along Glenoaks Blvd. which would make it difficult to pull out. Overall, Mission Wine & Spirits continued to be my favorite "local" liquor store in Glendale (locations also in Pasadena, Sherman Oaks and Burbank). Sure, I liked BevMo on Brand Blvd. for its wealth of selection, but I appreciated the localism and more selective items found here. I found great value based on the prices and services noted above (total bill before coupon was around $29.00; no tip required), but the service alone was the deal-maker. Honestly, they were crazy to think they needed a Groupon offer to drum up more business! The atmosphere was like any other liquor store with a refrigerated section for beers, sake, and white wines, several rows of shelving for the various types of alcohol, a counter with different types of chocolates and snacks used for pairings, an exclusive expensive case I can only dream about buying from one day, and a wonderful separate climate-controlled room for champagne and other expensive wines. Yes, they also stocked cigars and caviars as well as Lotto if you felt lucky. The attire was completely casual, so expect me to be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops (I was in pants this day because of a later engagement). BE CAUTIOUS! This location is suspicious. I tried to purchase whiskey in quantity and they said that the maximum I could purchase on a credit card was $500 worth. When I asked the manager why, his response was that their "insurance company" would not allow more than $500. The only solution had to be cash or debit. Well guess what? I went to the Sherman oaks location and purchased everything I needed all in one transaction, paid with a credit card, no problem. My house mate went there the other day and their paper bag busted and their wine was shattered all over the parking lot AND today I went there and came home and their paper bag busted too wine all over my drive way.
