This place is located on Irving Street, surrounded by many other pasta / Italian restaurants. Do yourself a favor and try any other restaurant on this street...
When we first showed up they were really helpful. We were a group of 6 and we went a couple days before New Year's Eve so every restaurant we had poked into was extremely busy. Without hesitation they brought us to be seated, but in the process they kicked another family out of their place and relocated them to the other side of the restaurant. For us, this was great. However, if I had been in that other family I definitely would not have appreciated that. I would expect a restaurant on this busy of a street to know how to seat groups in a way that ensures there is no need to move everyone around after being seated... To add to this, the restaurant is EXTREMELY small. Most of the seating is located outside (we were inside though). And the inside is very cramped; we had waiters and other clients bumping into us all night.
Another issue we had with this place was the bathroom. The bathrooms were G R O S S!! If you can hold it in, do it!! I was repulsed when I walked down to the women's stall (yes singular): there was garbage overflowing from the trash can all over the floor, the floor was soaking wet, and it smelled nasty. Not a very nice interlude from supper.
When it comes to the food, my opinion is a bit more mixed. They brought the food out fast, which was nice. In addition, other people in my group liked the pizza and loved the spaghetti bolognese. However, I ordered the Tortellini di Collina and it was very underwhelming. It was supposed to be "bursting with rich ricotta and spinach" but it was bland. No flavors stood out to me at all. The dish sounded really nice on the menu but did not live up to its description.
I will give this to them: the service was fast, the staff were nice and attentive, and the prices were pretty good for central London. In addition, the other members of my group really enjoyed the spaghetti and the pizza. But overall, I suggest going to another restaurant on this street if Italian is what you're in the mood for. read more
