In fact, to be honest, Target is probably my wife's favorite store, and it's where she goes to just go for a walk, occasionally picking up groceries, finding gifts for people, and even picking up something for herself every now and then. It's sometimes scary to see what she comes up with. Even so, this Target store is easy to maneuver, has a great selection and sales, usually has items in stock, and has helpful associates. Besides the store itself, it is easy to use the app to see what promotions there are, to earn Target Circle rewards, and to keep track of what we purchase. Speaking of Target Circle, it's a free program (https://www.target.com/l/target-circle/-/N-pzno9) where you can receive personalized and automatically applied deals, earn rewards to save and spend, and even receive discounts for verified military, college students, and teachers. You can even unlock added value by getting a Target Circle credit card or paying for a Target Circle 360 premium membership both with many more benefits of their own. There are separate hours for Target Optical, CVS Pharmacy, AT&T and prepaid cell phone activations, Starbucks, and when beer and wine are available. This store offers all of this plus fresh grocery and Ulta Beauty Target. It also offers order pickup, drive-up, and same-day delivery. I know now that the holidays are over, it's only a matter of time before I do some more major spending at Target. But one piece of advice...don't randomly wear khakis and a red polo or other customers will come up to you thinking you work there. Yes, it has happened to me once before, and I sure learned from that experience (though I actually think I knew where the items were that they were looking for).

Visited Dillard's, to browse, and let me just say... I was FLABBERGASTED…read more Let's start with the positives because they deserve the spotlight. Mary and Adonis were absolutely wonderful. Mary, in particular, went above and beyond to help me with the cause I came in to support. She didn't hesitate, stepped right in, and took control of the situation with confidence and kindness. In my humble opinion, MARY DESERVES A PROMOTION AND A HUGE RAISE. Truly. Adonis also caught my attention immediately ... makeup stood out, and futuristic, robotic-style attire. Iconic. Both were kind, respectful, and attentive. I love KIND humans. Now... moving on. While browsing, I noticed a man dressed in what looked like a heavy duty law enforcement uniform (brown attire, visibly armed). His presence felt very intense almost "above the law" energy. I jokingly told him to smile because life is a blessing, but he looked at me like he was ready to tackle me on aisle five. I even reassured him I don't steal! Just trying to lighten the mood but it wasn't me, that he was focused on. The energy throughout the store shifted when dude came standing in military form. Employees in shoes and fragrances seemed tense, standing in groups and watching closely while standing by the entrance into the mall One gentleman with a beautiful British accent approached me to offer help, but even he seemed nervous. I honestly wondered if I had missed some kind of memo. At that point, I decided it was my cue to wrap things up and head out. I'd absolutely return for perfumes and makeup (shoutout again to Mary and Adonis), but the overall vibe in other areas felt a bit jumpy for my taste. Sending positive energy and prayers that all employees get to go home safely. Retail can be a lot kindness goes a long way.

Alexandrea Collections at 44th & Camelback has always been one of my favorite places to shop. It's within walking distance of my home, the store is lovely, and it's my go-to spot for gifts. The staff has always been friendly, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Before Christmas, my mom and I came in and purchased over ten gifts for family and friends. Unfortunately, one of the necklaces we purchased turned out to be broken. When I returned to the store, my full intention was simply to exchange it. However, before I even explained the situation, I was immediately told that returns were not allowed and that I could only exchange the item or receive store credit. I then showed my receipt and asked a simple question: if a product is damaged or broken at the time of purchase, is the customer still unable to receive a refund? I was told yes. I expressed that I felt this was unfair, especially since the item was sold damaged, and I was told that this was store policy after the owner was contacted. While I did exchange the necklace (and even paid $12 more for a replacement), the situation left me feeling very upset and unheard. I fully understand and respect store policies, and I am not someone who tries to bend rules. That said, I believe customer satisfaction matters, especially when the issue is the result of a damaged product being sold. I truly hate writing this because I love supporting local businesses, but I do feel it's important to share my experience. In situations where the store is responsible for selling damaged merchandise, I believe a full refund should be an option. Sadly, because of how this was handled, I don't feel comfortable shopping here again.

When I think of a store that has something for everyone at a good price, I think of HomeGoods. The employees are helpful, and there is an organized way to check out where there is one line and a whole bunch of registers with a number flashing and announcement being made when the next person in line can be assisted. This is also where returns are made. My wife and I have been there recently as we just got a dog, and they have several aisles of pet supplies from treats to beds to bowls and so much more. I also remember going this past December to stock up on holiday gifts (and they sure had a large selection of wonderful baskets at great prices!). I also remember finding fun gifts for my staff and students before. I know my mother in law and wife enjoy shopping regularly at HomeGoods, and this location is convenient with good service and products. I have also been impressed with the flexibility that the staff have had with their policies from their return policy to how they handle receipts. It is nice to see staff have autonomy to support customers while also still following protocols and processes. That empowerment goes a long way, and it may explain why the staff seem to enjoy working there. HomeGoods is part of the same company as TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Sierra, and HomeSense. It is a part of the TJX Rewards Credit Card program, where you can earn 5% back every time you shop with the card.
