I had to check out the NEWLY opened store that replaced Big Lots. This store is HUGE! We arrived later in the day and can you believe they close at 11pm. I accompanied someone on the hunt for khaki colored pants. I was merely browsing. I have to say the STAND OUT was the security guard all the way. He greeted us as we entered. He gave ave me a tip to use the self checkout because it's faster. I believe his name was Mitchell. They are still stocking the store and shelves were a lil on the lighter side. There was a long wait to check out and the cashier I got was not friendly and acted like they did not want to be there. If you're looking for a stress-free shopping experience, I'd recommend going to another ross. I stopped by to return an item and browse, but left feeling irritated and annoyed. The juniors section has ridiculously narrow aisles, and while I was looking around, two young women and their mom literally boxed me in -- inches from my face -- with zero sense of personal space. No "excuse me," just loud, obnoxious chatter like I wasn't even standing there. Its a shame some people are raised with no manners/class. I got in line to check out, an older woman blatantly cut in front of me and acted as if she didn't know what she was doing. Between the crowding and lack of basic courtesy from multiple people, it was just not worth the hassle. This location feels chaotic and inconsiderate. Right when I walked in, I was greeted by the security guard. As I walked around the store, the aisles are wayyy to small and I'm 100% sure they are not ADA compliant. They have one cashier while it looks like everyone else is stocking. Checkout process is smooth and now they ask if you want to apply for a credit card. As I was exiting the store, they check your receipt which is odd. Overall the atmosphere is not too great. Very unappealing. It would be great if they converted into a Marshalls! read more

No one offers to help, and when I asked for assistance, I was met with attitude. I waited patiently in the jewelry section and even pressed the help button, but no one responded. When I asked who appeared to be the manager if someone could assist me, she told me I needed to buy something first. I explained that I needed to see the jewelry before deciding to purchase? and that I had already bought something. She then said that if I wanted to look at the jewelry, I'd have to get back in the general line. By that point, I had already wasted enough time just waiting for help. Very disappointing experience. This Ross is a mess. Things are all over the place and looks like no one picks up. There is constantly an alarm going off as if someone is taking something as well which can become annoying. Besides that it's your average ross. I was only here to buy a belt and it took me, I kid you not, 45 minutes to wait in line and pay. Plan to buy a lot because lines here are long on the weekends. Negative star! I was there on Dec 21 at 12:45 pm The line for puchase was super long, holiday time. I have a 2 item purchase and a 2 item return. No one was in the return line. But I waited in the purchase (long) line, which I think was more fair to others. When it was my turn to the register, I was called to the 1st register, which is also for RETURN and purchase. Ross on Valley blvd in the Superior parking is the worst. There's plenty of parking complete with bacon wrapped hotdog vendors in the parking lot....ewww The store itself is a hot mess. You walk in and crap is all over the place, on the floors, racks of go-backs near the front door, and disarray as far as you can see. Why are the security guards at these places always some non-threatening kid that most likely has no power to stop a thief. Anyway, I walked in looking for a cheap portable cell charger and didn't find any in the electronics wall. They did have plenty of phone cables and headphones but no portables. On my way out the door I almost slipped on something wet on the floor. The security guard was looking right at me as a witness yet said nothing. Tonight I was profiled for wearing a mask and beanie into this store. It was a cold night. I was followed by loss prevention for 10 minutes throughout the store by 2 different employees and when I asked why me specifically, he said it's their job and if I didn't like it, I could leave. So I left. I stood outside the store and I called in to the manager on duty and as soon as I asked for her name, she magically couldn't hear me anymore. As I'm standing outside the store, the loss prevention employee whose job it is to supposedly follow people through the store no longer needed to follow anyone anymore and just stood at the podium in front. Wednesday 1/24 7pm. Male was overweight and shaved head. Female companion was short-ish and also slightly overweight. I have definitely seen and experienced better at other Ross department stores. It was my first time shopping at this particular location. Parking: there were plenty of parking spaces, as it is located inside a big plaza. Inside: not too sure if they were short staffed, but the store was very disorganized and messy. Not to say other Ross stores I have been to were organized and not messy, but at least there were staff working on the floor to either answer questions consumers might have or organizing the store. In addition, the line was super long because there were only two registers opened. One register is supposed to be a return register, but it ended up helping out with the line. Tip: either purchase things you can carry out to the car or not purchase anything at all because you cannot use the cart to transport the items from the store to the car. Overall experience was not that great, but could be better. Hopefully, there will be changes to give consumers a better shopping experience or bring in more consumers. read more

There was this associate the told my little brother to sit down he wasn't running around he was playing with his toy and I told my brother don't listen to her because that's not her job to tell you what to do so we ignored her, we moved to a different isle and my older sister was leaning against an isle rack the really long heavy ones that don't move. She came and told her stop leaning on it. I couldn't believe she said that like how miserable can you be to be telling people what to do. I told her I'd call corporate because that's just not right. Why you should avoid shopping here- 1) They forget to give you your merchandise. One time I went shopping with my mom and they kept the bag. We didn't know a bag was left behind until we got home 12 miles later. We called them and it was still there. They made no attempt to apologize for this inconvenience or even try to chase us (we were in the store for another 20 seconds afterward). 2) They will accuse you of wearing an item you did not wear. They refused to refund me for an item I purchased 1 week ago because that's not their labeling standards and that I must have "re-labeled" it. They made a BIG scene and had customers look at me with a dirty eye. I had to return the item at the original store and it was HASSLE-FREE. Either the employees DGAF or the manager is a stickler, but it's a terrible shopping experience. Today I visited Ross Dress for Less in El Monte, CA with a friend to buy clothes for a new job. I brought six pairs of slacks and a blouse to the changing rooms and checked them in with the employee working there. Less than 10 minutes later someone knocked on the door to the changing stall I was in, in the middle of me getting dressed, and told me I needed to move to the men's changing room immediately. I told them I would not, and my friend at this point jumped indignantly to my defence. They left the changing room and I cut my shopping short to return to my own clothes and follow. The woman who knocked on the door said the employee who had checked us in had told her a man had entered the woman's dressing room (indicating me). In the spirit of education, I tried offering the manager a card from the ACLU which outlines trans rights in these situations, to which she replied "oh, I know your rights." It felt dismissive and condescending. As we were leaving the store, the shift manager who had knocked on the door apologized. She was the only one to do so. I left literally shaking: embarrassed, dysphoric, outraged, and incredibly hurt. I don't know how to make it better. I do know I deserve in the least an apology. The Ross customer service line said that this behavior goes against their company policy. If that's true, then perhaps more or better training is in order. I hesitated at first to place blame with the individual employee who started this all, but the truth is she checked me into the changing area, not alone, and with a rack of women's clothing to try on, yet still somehow judged that I was a man. I feel she should be in some way reprimanded for her transphobic actions. It's hard for me to share this. It was handled poorly and the treatment I was subject to is borderline illegal in this beautiful state. Yet it remains that for every act of discrimination I may endure, numerous acts of violence are carried out against trans women of color, who are far more deserving of your outrage and advocacy and far less likely to receive justice. My fiancé went here and saw and experienced a horrible time at this store. The cashier Erica with glasses is rude. She seems racists to Asians as she was nice to the two Hispanic customers but when the Asian Mom and daughter went up she was super rude. It's rather annoying to overhear the Loss Prevention Reps aka Security give out a full description on someone loudly who is now being "followed/watched" because she is now in possession of a "designer bag" heading towards the front of the store. First of all, Ross does not carry any designer bags. I can hardly call Calvin Klein designer. Secondly, it's pretty comical to watch them role play like they are some kind of real law enforcement tracking down thieves. I get that they need to ensure that no one steals from the store but it's seriously annoying to listen to their play by play on a customer's action while you are shopping which makes the shopping experience very uncomfortable. Not only that but they also "casually" follow you or pace around customers to ensure you're not stealing. Pay attention and you'll notice the same employee will make its presence known around you. How f*cking annoying is that?? VERY. It's borderline harassment! Aside from that, this location doesn't have any good selections to choose from at all. I prefer the Azusa location near the University a lot better. And they let you shop in peace. read more

There could be 15 people waiting in line with carts full of stuff and they only have two cashiers and one of them is also doing returns. I've been to this location twice and unfortunately both times I have been disappointed by the lack of selection of items. The shelves are VERY sparse and there are even some completely empty racks/shelves. As this location does get a lot of traffic, I hope the stocking of items improves. For now, my go-to Ross is still the Pasadena location. read more

My sister was raving about how El Monte was levelling the playing field by building a Ross here! I been here at least 6-10 times and I have to say the selection is limited especially in shoes. Not only that, it is very MESSY here! I see the employees working hard to organise and sort the merchandise, but it gets out of hands with the amount of customers that come here. I personally come here to get my professional wardrobe and that is very hard. It would be nice if there were more specific sections between work, fitness and daily clothing. The same can be apply to dresses as well-- formal and informal. The pricing of the clothing and merchandise here is cheap and affordable! If you are lucky, you can get discounted branded items. REFUNDS & RETURNS : I see previous posts about employees not honouring a refund. I didn't have that problem. I returned a clothing without a price tag, and they honour the refund as long as I had the receipt and that the item was not worn/wash/alter. I'm only giving this Ross a 3 star due to limited selections, store disorganisation, and long lines to the register . I don't understand why Ross has 7 register but only 2 people working register every time I'm there. read more

Not really sure what's going on with this Ross. It could be a number of things but I feel it mainly has to do with management. As a start, we were told at the door we could not bring in drinks so with it being 100 degrees outside, we could not bring in water for my 2 year old son. The store is being over run by ants especially in the Toy section. I can imagine what would happen if a child was stung by ants while looking at toys here.
