In November I bought a car from the online dealer that has the giant vending machine looking…read morebuildings. The car had a sagging headliner that was not disclosed in the ad and so the dealer agreed to replace it under warranty. The stipulation was that I had to take it to Gerber Collision & Glass in Freeport and the quote for the repair must be submitted by the end of the initial warranty period (which was end of January). I reached out to Gerber right away in November and the guy said to bring the car in on that Saturday so they could take pictures of the headliner. I showed up Saturday and the lady there had no idea I was coming. She used her cellphone to take the pictures, and this will become one of the excuses they used as to why they haven't sent the quote to the warranty company over the next several months. I would call at least once a week asking for an update (they even called me the headliner guy lol) and they would either say they would call me back (never happened) when so and so was in, they don't have the pictures off the phone yet, etc. After much hemming and hawing from Gerber it was now in the middle of January, and they still had not submitted the quote to the warranty company. I called the warranty company voicing my concern with Gerber and they finally recommended a different body shop in Rockford (we'll call them Capability Collision). Capability got me in right away and handled everything with the warranty company. They kept me in constant communication with texts, emails, and had a weblink that showed the progress of my car while it was being repaired. I should have known better because a year or so prior my wife needed a side mirror replaced on her Durango from a deer strike. It was over 6 months of radio silence from Gerber after my wife filed the claim. Wife finally reached out and Gerber blamed the lack of communication on our insurance company and haven't even ordered the (very common) part yet. Now, I'm not sure who is to blame for the lack of communication. Gerber eventually repaired my wife's mirror, and it was good work. So, I will give them 2-stars on that.

Had an accident the beginning of Sept. Called me on day 5 the car was done! Went to get it and had…read moreto leave it, as the damages were still noticeable and had an extra uh oh on it. Plenty of runs in the paint and crappy parts put on the car. Some places that shouldve been painted were not. Drove by a few weeks later and the car isnt even there, still have no idea where it was taken. Finally, dec 16th, I get a call the car is done. Go to pick it up and theres damage on the opposite side of the car which tells me either they backed into something or someone hit it. Now it needs to go back, again. Needless to say I'm not impressed nor would I ever recommend them.

This is the 3rd window replaced on this Subaru Ascent. I've used them previously on my Kia as well…read more Let's start with the good. The windshield is replaced, looks secure, didn't leak, and my "Eyesight" cameras have zero errors. The bad. The trim on the exterior was improperly installed allowing leaks into the engine bay. I properly installed it. When pointing this out, customer service pointed out I now voided any warranty. When leaving, I noticed I had a headlight out on the passenger side. When opening the hood to investigate, the hood prop was loose and dangling dangerously over my drive belt, the inner fender trim was loose and creased, and the filter box was tampered with. Generally, I do my own oil changes and last week when last under the hood, everything was fine. Since the box was open, I noticed the $50 k&n filter is gone and a no name generic was in its place. Not something I check regularly, but with all the other issues in that general area, it's suspicious. It appears the trim was damaged looking for the missing hood prop grommet. I won't be taking my vehicle back there to be corrected. The trust is gone. For the premium price tag they demand, I expect a higher level of professionalism. I did not ask for compensation, nor was any offered. If I am forced by my insurance to use this shop again, it won't be dropped off and left unsupervised and I'd advise anyone else forced to use them to do the same.
