Rosie's has a great cantina decor, more authentic feeling than I'd expect in Florence. The chips are really good, it's like they're twice fried, darker brown than usual, but not at all burnt tasting, just extra crispy and pleasant eating. The salsa's quite nice as well. Love a good queso, but found the deluxe queso a little too much, I'd stick with the regular queso next time. Combo lunch platter of a Texas enchilada and crispy taco. The taco was a little bland, but that can be remedied with a dousing of salsa or hot sauce. The Texas enchilada was pretty danged good. We're Texas expats, and used to the cheese enchiladas with chili that are ubiquitous in Austin. It doesn't rise to the benchmark of Maudie's in Austin, but I've had worse enchiladas in Texas. Service was excellent. There's a decent amount of parking in Rosie's lot, but it's pretty tight; I imagine it's a bit of trouble on peak evenings. I've wanted to try Rosie's for the past few years while in Florence and finally got my chance this week! I was not disappointed. Waiter was friendly and had an easy going attitude. Drinks were very good (Strawberry Margarita). Chips and queso was flip of flavor. Everyone at the table had a different item and all said theirs was the great. Food came out before we finished our chips. The atmosphere was ideal for the theme of the restaurant. I can't wait until my next visit to Florence to eat here again. read more

We were from out of town, seemed like a lot of people were eating here so tried it out. Did not enjoy at all. First bad sign was the salsa. Thick as tomato paste and sweet as well. Couldn't eat it. Yellow cheese dip was good. I got the shrimp tacos. Sauce on shrimp was mayonnaisey and slightly sweet. Could only eat one. Margarita was too sweet. Red cabbage slaw too much mayo and soggy. My buddy and I detoured on our way up from Tupelo, MS to Nashville, TN. It was a great drive on the Natchez Parkway, and Florence appears to be an interesting little college town. Right in the heart of downtown lies Rosie's with a great little covered patio out front, perfect in these COVID-19 times. We settled in with our drinks and out came the chips and salsa. I quickly ordered my go-to appetizer, a cup of queso blanco and our server returned to take our orders. Their complimentary chips were warm and the salsa slightly sweet. The cup of queso blanco had their white cheese blended with tomatoes and peppers giving it a little depth and some heat...so, so good on those warm chips! On my custom combo platter I had a chicken enchilada, a beef enchilada along with Mexican rice and refried beans. The chicken version of their enchilada came topped with both melted cheese and a spiced sour cream sauce. The beef version of their enchilada came topped with chili con carne and a mix of melted cheeses. The beans and rice went well when mixed together, especially with a little salsa thrown in for good measure! This was a super-filling meal, easily keeping us fueled all the way to Nashville (and beyond)! Worth making the detour for! read more

I enjoyed the stomp here in this restaurant. There was plenty of parking and we got a table quickly. The large queso was HUGE! 4 of us couldn't even finish half of it. Overall opinion: One of my new go-to restaurants where you know the food, service and atmosphere are consistently going to be excellent. Opinion on food: The tortillas, chips, salsa and queso are fresh made in batches for quality and freshness and you can immediately tell from the first bite. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection and tasted more like great authentic Mexican food than most other mexican restaurants I've been to. The dishes were also plated to be visually appealing, which you so rarely see unless you're dining upscale. Opinion on service: Our first waiter was slightly rude and very abrupt.. Maybe he was having an off night, who knows. He did swap out with another waiter, though by the name of Joseph, and Joseph was an absolute delight. He was so fast, friendly, and just a generally pleasant person; he seemed like Rosie's recruited him from a 5 star restaurant. He made sure to come by and update us about our food, walk by and refill our drinks and then quickly cleared our table after the appetizers so we'd have room for dinner all without disturbing any conversations which is an impressive thing. 10/10 recommend to anybody! read more

We love the Rosies in Huntsville and juat happened to be in Florence and decided to try this location. Although it didn't beat our favorite location, it was still very good. We had a wait to be seated, but not too long. Our waitress was nice and we recieved our food in a decent time. The food was great and so filling. Rosie's is missing the authentic taste of Mexican food. The salsa has a sweet taste and the cheese has a nacho flavor. The rice is not ideal for Mexican authenticity. This restaurant would be equivalent to at home Mexican food... which would probably be better. The flavor is missing on every plate. The service is outstanding and the staff is kind. Location is key for this place. Downtown Florence. The food is always fresh and service is always great. I bring my kids here whenever I'm home visiting the Shoals. They have many traditional Mexi-American dishes but done with a little higher quality ingredients and better presentation/plating than most restaurants with a similar menu in the area. The service is fast, friendly, and frankly you feel like the waiters earn their tips instead of feeling like you have to tip them to have good customer etiquette. I mean most entrees are large portions and those plates look big and heavy...so yes, they deserve the tips. Okay, so the actual bad part: Parking can be a problem occasionally if you have trouble walking or use a wheelchair. It being in the Downtown area near the University and Residential areas, handicap parking can fill up fast if local events are going on. 4 stars instead of 5 because I'd like for them to add 2 more handicap parking spaces. It just doesn't make sense to have that size parking lot with so few handicap spaces. Oh well. read more

Chicken breast seemed like frozen grilled strips that had been warmed up in the microwave. There were a few missteps from the server like forgetting drinks and bringing the wrong type of drink, but we liked them and our time at the restaurant so much we didn't even care. Best Tex-Mex/Mexican in Florence area. Rosie's Mexican Cantina is well worth a special trip or going out of your way for. Located in Downtown Florence Rosie's has a large parking lot for their business and a large eating area but even with that there is often a wait to be seated but that's because of just how good this place is. Rosies has so many good entries it's difficult to pick their best but you just can't beat their Fajitas, there the best around. Rosies also has some great fried ice cream if you an handle dessert but if you prefer they offer complimentary soft ice cream to all patrons to finish off your meal. Rosie's is a set down restaurant in that you after seated at a booth or table and are waited on by a waiter or waitress rather than placing your order and then finding a table. Rosie's also has two forms of Cheese Dip/Queso and both are very good. There is a yellow and a white, I prefer the White and neither are too spicy but just have a very good taste. While there is a small difference in price between the small and large Queso dip there is a huge difference in the size/portion you get so the Large size is well worth it. Whether Steak, Beef, or Chicken Rosie's offers excellent food high marks for quality and taste. There are two types of Chicken one being the pulled type which is much more bland and the other the grilled, fajita type which I prefer. Rosies is more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican but they have a robust menu and everything I have ever ordered has been awesome. Rosie's is not only a great restaurant worth taking a special trip to or for a special occasion but it could be the best Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant in Alabama, North Alabama family owned it's not a chain it's just an awesome restaurant to eat at whether you eat at the Florence location or in Huntsville where they have two locations. read more

We had no idea there was a Rosies in Florence. Stopped by for dinner during a conference week. The hot fresh flour tortillas are the bomb. Ask for some with your chips.
