I've been a regular at this place since their humble beginnings as a walk-in that only had a bar and two tabletops. That was years ago, and they've expanded since then into a much bigger building. I feel particularly attached to them because they have always been so kind and the food is delicious. I have never had a problem there or an order get messed up. We have a ton of options for Mexican in town but I will go out of my way to get El Pollito every time. I'm partial to the Pollo Con Arroz and my partner loves the Speedy Gonzalez, so we would highly recommend either of those. Of course the tacos are amazing too, and the deals available on Taco Tuesdays can't be beat. Hands down my favorite restaurant in town. They are consistently great. read more

We did get a chance to go and eat in the restaurant before we left Florence. The evening was warm and we sat out on the deck. The food was amazing, service quick, and we loved the "little chicken" touches and the story about the restaurant. We will most definitely go back next time we are in Florence. read more

Good food in a family atmosphere. I am vegan and got two chalupas with no cheese, added fresh chopped cilantro. I also got a side of grilled pineapple. It was great. The server told me the beans are vegan. My sister got the fajita quesadilla and enjoyed it. Per other Yelp reviews, my sister tried the cheese cake tacos. She did all three of their cheese cake taco sauces on the side and enjoyed the variety. My sister enjoyed her peach and pineapple mixed frozen margarita. I had a raspberry margarita on the rocks and found it bland. Next time, I will ask for double the raspberry flavor or mix it with a frozen flavor. Our server was excellent and very friendly. I have been eating here since they opened and have never had a bad meal. The food is great and the service is always prompt. My kids love their street tacos! Their owner can always be seen working inside the place helping out and greeting tables which says a lot about him and the business he runs. Highly recommend! read more

El Pollito Loco is one of Florence's gems. The service is always great, and they usually have a crowd every day. In my opinion, they are the best local place to get authentic Mexican tacos. Besides that, their Choripollo (Chorizo Chicken) is great too (I've made the mistake of getting this for lunch; don't do it unless you have a LONG lunch break... like long enough to take a short nap. Ok.. my friends have been telling me about this place for two years now. I finally made the trip to Florence today and tried it out. Wow.... they were not kidding. The best tacos in Alabama. ELP is the way traditional tacos should be. We ordered the torta, a few chicken tacos and cheese dip. Absolutely amazing!!! The tacos were perfect. Seasoning perfect. Fresh cilantro and onions. The spices green salsa was perfect. The torta, or how do I begin. The bread. Amazing. Everything that you like about Mexican is in this sandwich. This is a nice clean and tidy little Mexican cantina. The two guys behind the counter were friendly and greeted us upon entry. My wife and I stopped by for a quick bite to eat. We elected for several different tacos. Ground beef, chicken, carne asada and chorizo. While we were waiting we were served chips and salsa. The tacos were brought to our table. Quality was barely OK. But the point I would like to convey here is.... they give you very little food. It's the typical Florence plan... How little food can I give you and how much can I charge you. You know you never see this in bigger towns..... towns like Atlanta, Birmingham, Huntsville. I think it may be because of higher competition in these larger towns. I mean I'm not a very big guy and not a very big eater. But certainly this was not enough for my lunch. I had marked this place off once before, but had never gotten a burrito here .... so thought I would give them another chance... but not ever again. Just look at the pictures and you will understand. Most of the local Mexican restaurants locally are really really really not very good. I have to say, Blue coast burrito may be the best food for the money. You will never go hungry at BCB and prices are better than all these local establishments. I mean I'm done with this place - it's a rip off.....just look at the pictures and you got to get what I'm saying ( and yes the picture of the burrito - i had eaten half of it....but you can still see how small 1/2 of it was). This place is right up the street from our house so we order takeout regularly. The food has never been bad. The salsa is inconsistent, though. The place is small, but they do have a couple of small tables inside and a bar area that overlooks the grill. On warmer days, there is also a deck area with plenty of space to sit and enjoy your meal. The owner and staff are very friendly, and we always chat with them while waiting on our food. If I had any complaint it's that even when you have multiple orders, they still only give you one, small bag of chips. If you need another bag, they charge you. However, that currently is not enough to deter me from from continuing to visit. read more

El Pollito Loco is excellent! The Mexican tacos are delicious. Soft corn tortillas with chopped onions and cilantro with your choice of meat... I'm already stuffed and my mouth is watering while writing this. It is a small establishment with only two tables and four bar stools at the counter inside but there is a large outdoor seating area. Sit at the counter and you can watch the small staff cooking your food right in front of you. Clean establishment. Courteous staff. DELICIOUS food! And very affordable. read more

This place is so good, I bypass the Mexican restaurant by my house and go 15 minutes out of my way to get the authentic tacos!

There's about 15 Mexican restaurants in the area, this is the best one, imo. You get the exact same thing if u go to the other places, but at pollito loco, they have more authentic food. They also have some good alcoholic drinks. Their salsa is really good, the chips are great. The chorizo queso is great. But the best thing on the menu is the authentic tacos w/carnitas. Corn tortillas lightly fried for a moment, filled with carnitas, cilantro n onion, lime on the side. Oh, n they have plenty of outdoor tables. We eat here every Sunday, at the same time, n order the same thing. read more

The waitress was rude! She made us wait ten minutes before bringing us more chips. Our cheese dip was cold at that point. She came out 7 times but never raised her eyes so we could get her attention. Best tacos around!! And the price is great too- especially if you go on taco Tuesday! They are always super friendly. Only down side is that the actual restaurant itself is super small, so I always end up getting my orders to-go. You can also call your order ahead- which is great so that I can stop in on my way home from work! read more
