Great Mexican food truck at corner of Hughes and OMPike. Fast service, easy to order menu with numbers. It's in parking lot of gas station/ liquor store across the street from AppleBs.. Yes they do take CCs ..

A solid option for tacos in an area of Madison with slightly less dense traffic -- not bad! This truck is a dark orange color and parks in a corner of a gas station, though I can't remember the specific brand of gas station as that didn't stand out to me much. I had sopes with chicken for lunch, while boyfriend opted for chicken tacos. I've heard that you can get two meats on your taco orders, but that wasn't offered to us and I'm too shy to ask, haha. So chicken it was. Food was out fairly quickly, despite there being two orders ahead of mine. I would say that it was good, but not remarkable. Bear in mind that I don't typically eat much Mexican food, though, so my tastes are far from expert. That being said, I don't see this food as being too different in taste, ingredients, or presentation than the food from the popular El Cazador trucks and restaurants that are more populous in the Huntsville area. Perhaps the sopes from this place went a little bit heavier on the toppings -- more lettuce, more beans, and a bit more chicken. I would also say that the salsas are a bit hotter here. Ultimately, however, I prefer El Cazador. I like the seasoning they use on the chicken a little bit more, but mostly I feel like the masa rounds from El Cazador have crispier edges and softer insides, which I personally prefer. Boyfriend said his tacos were good. This place is worth your consideration if you're in the area!

Visiting from Massachusetts. Wish we had good taco trucks like this! We went to Valentina's on a Tuesday and Taqueria Los Arrieros on a Thursday. We found Valentinas very salty although it was good. The food at Taqueria Los Arrieros was delicious and had very balanced seasoning - we got carnitas tacos and pastor quesadilla. Came with fresh, lightly pickled veggies for freshness. Hot sauces were good too. Would keep coming back. Horchata was sooo delicious. Only wish they had outdoor seating like Valentina's. Although it would probably always be full! The food was packed very well for traveling.

The tacos are great, they have lengua (cow tongue) which is a must to at least try. The price is great and affordable. I ordered the torta and it's a hit and miss but can't beat their tacos

Definitely not for comfort - there are a couple of rickety picnic tables in the parking lot right next to the busy traffic on 72 - it's loud and hard to carry on a conversation. But the food, oh the food, makes it all worthwhile. There is a pretty limited menu - tacos, burritos, quesadillas and torta. There is a list of fillings including barbacoa, chorizo, carnitas, shredded chicken and for the adventurous, langua (tongue). Every time I've visited, one or more of the meats have been unavailable but no worries, everything is as good as the next (well, I won't vouch for the tongue. Ick.) The torta is on a large, soft and super fresh roll. It includes a special sauce, mayo, lettuce, pickled onions, jalapeños and tomatoes. I'd recommend skipping the mayo - it just overpowers the goodness of the rest of the fillings. The tacos are small - street tacos so you'll probably need more than one to satisfy your hunger. You have your choice of flour or corn tortillas. The tacos come with onions and cilantro. Nothing to hide the wonderfully seasoned meat. The quesadilla was huge - a flour tortilla folded in half and FILLED with meat, cheese and their house sauce. Speaking of sauce, everything comes with a little cup of sauce - be glad that the cup is little - it is HOT. I've had both the barbacoa and the carnitas in various forms. Everything I have gotten has been amazing. The husband and I usually each get a taco and then a torta or quesadilla to share. This is more than enough to fill us up. We drove by this little trailer for years - I never really noticed it and I certainly didn't crave gas station food. Valentina's is pure delight that just happens to be next to a gas station.

The truck is parked seemingly permanently off to the side of a Mobil gas station, just a little bit further into Madison past the Trash Pandas Stadium. They offer the option to order online. The menu is fairly large and they do have specials from time to time. The young woman who took my order was polite and personable and I observed her fluently switch from English to Spanish and vice versa depending on customer need. They were doing a pretty solid business. A small vibrating device was passed out to each customer, which would vibrate and ring when the food was ready. I'm pretty sure this is the only truck in the area that offers tlayudas, which is a dish created and primarily prepared in Oaxaca. Here, it's a very large, charred tortilla covered in toppings including beans, veggies, and a protein of choice. I ordered one with chicken so I could try it; I got a burrito with al pastor for my husband. They were serving champurrado as well, and I couldn't resist a cup of that. My food and drink all came out at once and I carted it home to eat. The champurrado was too hot to drink for a while anyway, and the food held up pretty well. When I did get around to drinking, it was thick, not too sweet, and creamy. I think other places I've tried it are actually calling hot chocolate with cinnamon champurrado, but I think this was the real deal, with a heavy masa harina base. I enjoyed it. Husband's burrito was large and quite tasty. The rice inside was cooked nicely. My tlayuda was also pretty good, and huge - lots to eat. The sear on the tortilla added an interesting flavor, with the tortilla itself being alternately crispy and chewy, and the fresh charred jalapeño on top added good heat and flavor. The veggie toppings, especially the beans, were fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, I really didn't like the chicken; it was chopped in small bits and really didn't have much flavor or seasoning. The rubbery texture made it worse. I would order a tlayuda again, but would definitely change up the protein. Husband's al pastor was a better choice. Overall, it's definitely worth it to try this truck to sample some harder-to-find fare in the area.

It's not often, at least in Huntsville, to come upon a Thai food truck. But Twisted Thai is just…read morethat -- and it's a position it carries well! I'd had them on my to-try list for a while. One day last week I saw they'd be stationed at Northrop Grumman while I was working nearby, so I made plans to go grab a meal. They were fairly busy with a bunch of NG employees, but I came towards the end of service and they were still working efficiently. My wait wasn't bad. The menu is fairly large for a food truck and has classic Thai offerings, from curry to Thai basil plates to noodle dishes like pad see ewe and drunken noodles. You can choose your protein for practically any dish: chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp for an upcharge. They even have fancier, more traditional drinks like Thai coffee and green tea. It's an impressive setup for a food truck. I initially asked for an order of red curry, but the lady working the window said they only had green curry that day. I'm not sure if they only run one curry at a time, or if they'd just run out of everything but green. Next, I asked for pad see ewe, but they had run out of noodles. That was a little disappointing, though perhaps it's on me for coming later during service. I ultimately wound up with Thai basil with chicken. It came served with white rice. I also ordered some mango sticky rice for dessert since the season is basically on us for mango! I got a diet soda to drink -- as much as I love Thai tea, I didn't want to gild the lily TOO much. My food came out quickly and was packaged beautifully and very neatly. It was clearly made fresh as it was also very warm! I returned to my car to nosh covertly before returning to work. The Thai basil was good -- it's not my go-to Thai dish, but it was a good bit better than a version I had not long ago at a different restaurant. Pleasantly aromatic, veggies were still crispy, most of the chicken was a good, non-rubbery texture. It went well with the delicate white rice. I forgot to ask for at least a level 2 spicy, which is the one thing I'd change about it -- as it was served to me, it was very mild, and I wanted some kick. I wish someone would've prompted me about spice level when I ordered, but it's ultimately on me. The mango sticky rice was a delicious treat as always. This version was served with a purple-y colored rice rather than white. It didn't taste much different to me but the color was pretty. My mango still had a few slightly sour bites but it was mostly great, and that's not their fault anyway. The rice itself was still warm and delightfully, subtly sweet. I'd definitely patronize this truck again. Would love to try a curry or a noodle dish someday in the future, though I enjoyed my meal enough that I'd also order it again!

I decided to order their chicken and shrimp pad thai, spring rolls, and chicken dumplings. You may have to wait a few minutes since the food is cooked to order, but that didn't bother me at all. The food was awesome! Each dish was served hot and was seasoned very well. You could tell they used natural ingredients. The chicken & shrimp pad thai was my favorite! It also came with thinly sliced cabbage and carrots and a side of limes. Thankfully, they put the peanuts on the side without me having to ask (I don't like a lot of peanuts in my pad thai personally). Keep in mind, they do have tables with umbrellas that you can sit at if you want to eat your food there/in the elements. I really enjoyed my visit today and I highly recommend this business.

We walked up to the window and placed our order. The lunch special was two Carne Asada Tacos so we got an order to go. We added a cup of Esquites, corn, and three chicken and three pork tamales to go. The Carne Asada Tacos were delicious, as was the Eaquites, and the two varieties of tamales. Our foods were so good we pondered which we liked best. The tamales are the best I have eaten. They have a bit of a spicy kick to them. If I were younger, I would eat more than the one I had. My stomach can't eat hot like I could years ago. The tacos were my favorite and hubs agreed but then said the tamales were awesome. The lady at the order window brought our food to our car for us. I think, after trying this truck 3 times, I've realized these tamales just aren't for me. I wanted…read moreto like them so terribly because they look delicious, the folks running the business seem lovely, and EVERYONE raves about them. But I can't write it off as a bad batch or anything after trying so many times. The first time was a couple years ago right after the truck got its start. It visited a neighborhood in the OXR area and I made the drive over to try because I wanted to see what everyone was raving about. It was so popular and, as a result of being new, fairly slow -- and I wound up waiting in line for over an hour. I didn't like the tamales I got very much, but I wrote it off as it being the tail end of service and them being run ragged from the insane lines. The second time, my order was beyond messed up and I didn't realize until I'd gotten home and it was too late to get it fixed. The only thing that was right was my corn in a cup...much of which spilled in the plastic bag because the lid wasn't attached properly. Argh. Finally had some luck at a truly solid go of it at the Piper and Leaf Maker's Market a week or so ago. My parents and I wanted to share a light lunch and so we got a tamale combo to share. And, once again, it didn't do much for me. All three times, I've found the tamales fairly dry and, while not flavorless, not exactly bursting with flavor, either. Here are some observations: These are the more traditional style of tamale (as opposed to Delta hot tamales, which my mom loves), and like I said, I found them pretty dry on all my attempts. This is improved some by the addition of salsa or queso, but these are all added costs (fairly high ones for the meager amount you get - think fast food ketchup sized cup), and it's also easy to forget to order them. It would be nice if a combo came with your choice of at least one. The salsas, both red and green, have vibrant flavors and some kick. The rice and beans are standard but unobjectionable. They do usually have some vegetarian options, which is nice. I've tried the pork, chicken, and rajas (veggie) tamales. The best of the three, to me, is the pork -- it is faintly spicy and more moist, imo. But FWIW my parents like the chicken more, so who can really say? What I HAVE enjoyed has been the esquite (corn in a cup). It's been refreshing, with a pleasant texture and combination of flavors. I'd order it again. I've also enjoyed the pleasant service I've received each visit. In more recent times, they've expanded to doing dishes other than tamales: tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, etc. They also sometimes offer dessert/sweet tamales, like pineapple or pumpkin. All of this sounds intriguing and I'd be willing to try it in the future. If more traditional tamales are your jam, then by all means give this nice local business a try. I truly think the problem is more a me problem than a them problem, but that's just my experience.

You can build your own hot dog with a variety of toppings (classics, like ketchup or mustard, are free; premium, like peppers and onions or pineapple relish, are .75 cents) or you can order one of the chef's specialty dogs. By default, the dogs are enormous, savory, and all beef, but you can change to a sausage dog for an upcharge if that's more your flavor. Specialty dogs run between $7-$8, depending on the number and type of toppings. Each one is named after an iconic or well traveled road in Huntsville, which is a great tie-in to their name and theme. You can buy chips on the side, but we all found the dogs to be a more than ample lunchtime meal, and worth the price. My parents and I had the 431 (pineapple relish, bacon bits, peppers and onions), the South Parkway (a tricked out chili cheese), and the Monte Sano (brown mustard, kraut, pickle relish, bacon bits). Each one was delish, piled high with toppings, and made fresh to order. It's obvious the owner is thoughtful and particular about the toppings. The bacon bits were real, freshly chopped, crispy and fatty bacon -- not the kind you buy in a package at the store. Astoundingly, the buns held up to all the goodies piled on top. If you're too intimated to eat with your hands, forks and a multitude of napkins are at your disposal. The owner was there slinging dogs himself and we had a good time chatting with him. He and his wife run the operation by themselves, and it's nice to see and interact directly with the people who benefit from your business. He was very nice and did an excellent job preparing our food and telling us about his product. You can reliably find their weekly schedule posted on Facebook. They're often at Parkway Scrubs for lunch and also appear at local breweries and events for dinner, but don't take my word for it -- find their page and hunt down this cool little cart.
