Update: Saturday 3/4/23 I tried the lunch special tostadas. The al pastor to be specific. Generous portions and delicious! The tomato based salsa was a bit watery but flavor packed. No problem. This is straight up "Good Eats"

Excellent pork tamales. The best that I've had since I had some at a street fair in Huntington Beach California about 12 years ago. These are the real stuff. Quick service too.

I literally stumbled upon upon the food truck at the UAB medical center on Governor's today. I purchased a half dozen of tamales and a cup of street corn. At first I thought the tamales were a little experience compared to the price I am accustom to paying in Houston, TX. However, I realize taste and size matter. With the purchase of the tamales I could mix and match the pork, chicken and vegetarian. I chose the pork and chicken. Both varieties were good but the chicken was the best. The size of the tamales is twice the size of those I have had in Houston. All of this made the price ok. The Street Corn was equally as good. I chose the cup since I was driving and sharing the food. Very good.

The food is always warm, tasty and the options are endless. The tacos and spinach tamales are my favorite. The quesadillas and nachos are great too. The customer service is amazing.

It was good and spicy. They are good size and full of meat. Would of liked more sauce due to keeping them hot they dry out and are not as tasty anymore.

2 elote combos. 1 pork and 1 chicken tamale

Everything we had here was fantastic! We got the elote combo which was 2 tamales, elote, and agua Fresca. My husbands ama used to make tamales and he is very picky about them and most of them time won't eat them or even try anyone else's. He ate them so fast and wanted more! We will definitely be going back!

Definitely not for comfort - there are a couple of rickety picnic tables in the parking lot right next to the busy traffic on 72 - it's loud and hard to carry on a conversation. But the food, oh the food, makes it all worthwhile. There is a pretty limited menu - tacos, burritos, quesadillas and torta. There is a list of fillings including barbacoa, chorizo, carnitas, shredded chicken and for the adventurous, langua (tongue). Every time I've visited, one or more of the meats have been unavailable but no worries, everything is as good as the next (well, I won't vouch for the tongue. Ick.) The torta is on a large, soft and super fresh roll. It includes a special sauce, mayo, lettuce, pickled onions, jalapeños and tomatoes. I'd recommend skipping the mayo - it just overpowers the goodness of the rest of the fillings. The tacos are small - street tacos so you'll probably need more than one to satisfy your hunger. You have your choice of flour or corn tortillas. The tacos come with onions and cilantro. Nothing to hide the wonderfully seasoned meat. The quesadilla was huge - a flour tortilla folded in half and FILLED with meat, cheese and their house sauce. Speaking of sauce, everything comes with a little cup of sauce - be glad that the cup is little - it is HOT. I've had both the barbacoa and the carnitas in various forms. Everything I have gotten has been amazing. The husband and I usually each get a taco and then a torta or quesadilla to share. This is more than enough to fill us up. We drove by this little trailer for years - I never really noticed it and I certainly didn't crave gas station food. Valentina's is pure delight that just happens to be next to a gas station.

Their pastor and lengua are phenomenal (asada is hit or miss) and the flour tortillas are soooo chewy and delicious. Their cheese sauce and salsa are mid. And the only reason why I took off a star is because their hours can be super unpredictable. Make sure to give them a call OR check their instagram page BEFORE driving over! Even though their hours said they'd be open, they're not always open... Eating tacos at Valentina's is one of the reasons why I look forward to coming to HSV. So make sure to give them a call before eating some of the best tacos ever~

The truck is parked seemingly permanently off to the side of a Mobil gas station, just a little bit further into Madison past the Trash Pandas Stadium. They offer the option to order online. The menu is fairly large and they do have specials from time to time. The young woman who took my order was polite and personable and I observed her fluently switch from English to Spanish and vice versa depending on customer need. They were doing a pretty solid business. A small vibrating device was passed out to each customer, which would vibrate and ring when the food was ready. I'm pretty sure this is the only truck in the area that offers tlayudas, which is a dish created and primarily prepared in Oaxaca. Here, it's a very large, charred tortilla covered in toppings including beans, veggies, and a protein of choice. I ordered one with chicken so I could try it; I got a burrito with al pastor for my husband. They were serving champurrado as well, and I couldn't resist a cup of that. My food and drink all came out at once and I carted it home to eat. The champurrado was too hot to drink for a while anyway, and the food held up pretty well. When I did get around to drinking, it was thick, not too sweet, and creamy. I think other places I've tried it are actually calling hot chocolate with cinnamon champurrado, but I think this was the real deal, with a heavy masa harina base. I enjoyed it. Husband's burrito was large and quite tasty. The rice inside was cooked nicely. My tlayuda was also pretty good, and huge - lots to eat. The sear on the tortilla added an interesting flavor, with the tortilla itself being alternately crispy and chewy, and the fresh charred jalapeño on top added good heat and flavor. The veggie toppings, especially the beans, were fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, I really didn't like the chicken; it was chopped in small bits and really didn't have much flavor or seasoning. The rubbery texture made it worse. I would order a tlayuda again, but would definitely change up the protein. Husband's al pastor was a better choice. Overall, it's definitely worth it to try this truck to sample some harder-to-find fare in the area.

The tacos are small with 2 corn tortillas each, topped with onion and cilantro. Come was a red sauce, lime wedges, a pepper and a couple of cucumber slices on the side. It's not often, at least in Huntsville, to come upon a Thai food truck. But Twisted Thai is just…read morethat -- and it's a position it carries well! I'd had them on my to-try list for a while. One day last week I saw they'd be stationed at Northrop Grumman while I was working nearby, so I made plans to go grab a meal. They were fairly busy with a bunch of NG employees, but I came towards the end of service and they were still working efficiently. My wait wasn't bad. The menu is fairly large for a food truck and has classic Thai offerings, from curry to Thai basil plates to noodle dishes like pad see ewe and drunken noodles. You can choose your protein for practically any dish: chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp for an upcharge. They even have fancier, more traditional drinks like Thai coffee and green tea. It's an impressive setup for a food truck. I initially asked for an order of red curry, but the lady working the window said they only had green curry that day. I'm not sure if they only run one curry at a time, or if they'd just run out of everything but green. Next, I asked for pad see ewe, but they had run out of noodles. That was a little disappointing, though perhaps it's on me for coming later during service. I ultimately wound up with Thai basil with chicken. It came served with white rice. I also ordered some mango sticky rice for dessert since the season is basically on us for mango! I got a diet soda to drink -- as much as I love Thai tea, I didn't want to gild the lily TOO much. My food came out quickly and was packaged beautifully and very neatly. It was clearly made fresh as it was also very warm! I returned to my car to nosh covertly before returning to work. The Thai basil was good -- it's not my go-to Thai dish, but it was a good bit better than a version I had not long ago at a different restaurant. Pleasantly aromatic, veggies were still crispy, most of the chicken was a good, non-rubbery texture. It went well with the delicate white rice. I forgot to ask for at least a level 2 spicy, which is the one thing I'd change about it -- as it was served to me, it was very mild, and I wanted some kick. I wish someone would've prompted me about spice level when I ordered, but it's ultimately on me. The mango sticky rice was a delicious treat as always. This version was served with a purple-y colored rice rather than white. It didn't taste much different to me but the color was pretty. My mango still had a few slightly sour bites but it was mostly great, and that's not their fault anyway. The rice itself was still warm and delightfully, subtly sweet. I'd definitely patronize this truck again. Would love to try a curry or a noodle dish someday in the future, though I enjoyed my meal enough that I'd also order it again!

I decided to order their chicken and shrimp pad thai, spring rolls, and chicken dumplings. You may have to wait a few minutes since the food is cooked to order, but that didn't bother me at all. The food was awesome! Each dish was served hot and was seasoned very well. You could tell they used natural ingredients. The chicken & shrimp pad thai was my favorite! It also came with thinly sliced cabbage and carrots and a side of limes. Thankfully, they put the peanuts on the side without me having to ask (I don't like a lot of peanuts in my pad thai personally). Keep in mind, they do have tables with umbrellas that you can sit at if you want to eat your food there/in the elements. I really enjoyed my visit today and I highly recommend this business.

The menu is simple but highly creative. You can build your own hot dog with a variety of toppings (classics, like ketchup or mustard, are free; premium, like peppers and onions or pineapple relish, are .75 cents) or you can order one of the chef's specialty dogs. By default, the dogs are enormous, savory, and all beef, but you can change to a sausage dog for an upcharge if that's more your flavor. Specialty dogs run between $7-$8, depending on the number and type of toppings. Each one is named after an iconic or well traveled road in Huntsville, which is a great tie-in to their name and theme. You can buy chips on the side, but we all found the dogs to be a more than ample lunchtime meal, and worth the price. My parents and I had the 431 (pineapple relish, bacon bits, peppers and onions), the South Parkway (a tricked out chili cheese), and the Monte Sano (brown mustard, kraut, pickle relish, bacon bits). Each one was delish, piled high with toppings, and made fresh to order. It's obvious the owner is thoughtful and particular about the toppings. The bacon bits were real, freshly chopped, crispy and fatty bacon -- not the kind you buy in a package at the store. Astoundingly, the buns held up to all the goodies piled on top. If you're too intimated to eat with your hands, forks and a multitude of napkins are at your disposal. The owner was there slinging dogs himself and we had a good time chatting with him. He and his wife run the operation by themselves, and it's nice to see and interact directly with the people who benefit from your business. He was very nice and did an excellent job preparing our food and telling us about his product. You can reliably find their weekly schedule posted on Facebook. They're often at Parkway Scrubs for lunch and also appear at local breweries and events for dinner, but don't take my word for it -- find their page and hunt down this cool little cart.
