I've been behind on some of my reviews and I apologize for that. I hate it to loom about two months ago. Pam and I went there and it wasn't quite what we expected. It was a go up and order at the counter and they bring you your food. If it was a full sit down where they had a menu I would give em 5 stars cause the food was very good. And we travel to Tulum twice a year. And their food is very authentic. I love their sauce bar. The inside is kind of what you would expect for a place that you walk up to the counter. In order, the ambience is OK. If you're in a hurry for some authentic Mexican food, I would recommend this place. If you wanna go out and dine, maybe not where you wanna go. read more

I am confused by these reviews. You're better off going to Taco Bell. We were on the road and needed somewhere to stop. I was happy their vegetarian options were clearly listed. First off, this is an order at the counter, quick service type place. So, it's not a traditional table side service place. Which is fine, if the food is good.. it's not. Spouse had some shrimp tacos and said they were "fine". I had the "vegetarian nachos", sans jalapeños, and they still brought me a plate covered in jalapeños.. had to get a new plate (which still had few stray jalapeños). It was basically a cold, bland salad on top of tortilla chips. I have never had COLD "nachos" before. I assume this watery white stuff at the bottom of the plate is "cheese", but honestly, these were horrible. I had to add a ton of salt. Zero flavor at all. So irritating. Not nachos. Bathroom was also ten degrees colder than the rest of the place, for some odd reason. We paid around $40 for the meal for four people, but honestly, we could have paid half that for the same quality (or better) at Taco Bell. read more

This place offers great food at a great price in a fun and inviting atmosphere. They offer burritos, tacos, etc. in a casual setting where you order your food at the counter and they hand you a number. From there you select a table and first they bring you chips and soon enough your meal. They have a salsa bar where you go choose your salsas. I particularly like their salsa verde and their habanero. I also liked their carrots and jalapeno peppers that is also at the salsa bar. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and since today was a particularly beautiful autumn day, several people opted to sit outside and enjoy the day as well as their meal. I had the tacos diablo with their carne asada and not only was it extremely tasty, the total, tax and everything, was $8.22. I strongly recommend here. It is a great place for a meal. read more

Came here for a light dinner consisting of carne asada fajitas, Tulum Fajita salad, elote, and a side of pinto beans. Everything was heavy on the meat and light on spice. Yes, I would've liked the side sauces to actually be spicy (and there are many options, which are self-service!). Regardless, I very much enjoyed my meal and thought it to be comforting Tex-mex in a fun, colorful, and casual environment. That elote is a must if you're into Cotija cheese and white sauce, because they pour it on. My salad was pretty big and had a decent portion of carne. The pinto beans were fine, nothing crazy. And the fajita is a great choice if you want a high variety of ingredients and delicious tortillas to go along with it. I think this place is outstanding. My dad and I have come three times just this month. We get the chicken bowl and added onions lettuce and sour cream. It is ALOT of food for an $8 bowl. We also loveeee the soup. It's similar to a chicken noodle with a twist. Worth the drive!!!! They have two locations and I think this one on carriage house drive is better. Hubby and I were in the area after a wedding and decided to stop here to get dinner before heading home. This place looked like it would be only Tex-Mex but up by the register they have authentic options you can choose from. There's also a salsa bar you can get salsa from but be careful because I found two of the containers stuck together in the stack of supposedly clean ones. I was disappointed with the tamale I got because it was pretty dry, which I wasn't expecting from the banana leaf style. I guess either type can be moist or dry but the flavor wasn't that great, either. I would totally return here if we were in town because it's such a unique place. They also have some really unique items, like burritos with french fries in them. Located just off one of the main highways going through Jackson, Tulum's manager and his staff were really nice people, and went out of their way to make my visit a positive one. I arrived about 15 minutes before closing after a nearby Jackson Generals game, but they never rushed my friend and I, and made it a fun night! This place is popular and very crowded! It has a very cute interior with an island feel and offers Southern California style, mild Mexican food which is decent, but lacked the spice/heat and authentic flavors I crave. I ordered the chicken Tacos Del Fuego, but there was no fuego to be found. We asked for fresh, chopped jalapeno and that helped, but they had seeded the pepper before chopping, so it was very mild. It was a soft flour taco and tasted pretty good. My husband ordered the fish tacos which were not great because they smelled and tasted fishy. I've always heard don't order fish on a Monday and this is why, but we weren't thinking about what day it was, so lesson learned. Thankfully we ordered the chunky guacamole which was outstanding! It could have used more avocado, but the flavors of tomato, purple onion, cilantro, minced jalapenos, and lime juice were spot on and saved our dining experience. read more

Haven't been to this place in 3 yrs. Went through the drive thru today , the gal at the window was great! She's the only one I will give points to today. I ordered a fajita quesadilla. When I got home it was floating in grease. All my veggies were soggy and greasy. Probably the worst quesadilla I've ever had. I started poking around in the refried beans after eating the cheese off the top low and behold I found two pieces of cooked chicken in it, yuk! SMH not good and makes me think twice about how their kitchen is being run. I won't be back. A cook and or a chef should know how to properly cook fajitas and they also should have spoons in every item on their steam table and know about cross contamination. If something falls into another item , take it out ASAP don't mix it in and serve it. Too many doors opened here for a disaster waiting to happen in my opinion. The tamale was heavy on masa, but the chicken filling was good. I often find the beans and rice 'meh' and this was no different.
