Fun day at Rosie's Beach. We only come here because of it being one of the few beaches that allows you to bring your dog.

I took Louie and fendi for the first time a while back and they absolutely loved it ! I was scared cause they're so very small but very brave they meet so many friends n even went in the water !

Part of Granada Beach in Long Beach, Rosie's Dog Beach is an off-leash dog zone, allowing dog owners and their furry companions to enjoy the California sunshine and surf with others of their ilk. My daughter and son-in-law brought down their mini dachshund with them for the holidays, and we had a chance to bring her to the beach on Christmas Day, in between rain storms that we received on the surrounding days. There were quite a few dogs there, all enjoying the sunshine. It's a relatively flat beach with decent sand and not too much debris this day. We stayed for a bit and saw many owners/dogs drop by to play, most for a short stay, making the trip an enjoyable part of their day. There is a big paved parking lot, using the Passport Parking app to pay digitally ($0.50 per 15 minutes). 2001 - Pilot program started for off-leash area 2003 - City council officially established 3 acre area 2010 - Officially renamed after Rosie, in memory of bulldog that started it all

It's always a must whenever we're down in Long Beach. Have to take the fur baby to tire him out. In his case, he likes to just lay and lounge. It's alway quite pretty busy each time we've been. It's a decent stretch of beach so there's plenty of room for all the dogs to run around. This visit, the lifeguard went around to everyone asking if they were going in the water. And to be careful with stingrays as they're out. Basically to make sure we do the stingray shuffle before walking in. Smart. This beach is always pretty fun with people and dogs of all sort. Little one, big one, both off lease and on lease. Majority of dogs are okay with each other but you always have to be cautious as you never know how other dogs will react. And of course, clean up after them. There's loads of trash bin along the sand. It's a good beach as it's pretty wide and great for the dogs to run around. Parking in the lot or street parking. And afterward, grab a drink at Monty's.

Even without a dog, this beach is a pleasure. It is a flat sand beach with open water access. There is a bike path and small beach bungalows looking over the ocean front. - There are palm trees, lifeguard stations and a view of Rainbow Harbor. I personally did not care for the harbor view but appreciate that the city attempted to disguise the mechanical island as something somewhat appealing. - You are a few blocks away from 2nd Street where there are great spots for ice cream, food, beach wear and beach toys. The downside is there is very little shade and parking is very difficult.

Love love love love love love love. The actual distance between the two signs that mark the end of Rosie's dog beach is fairly small, but when the beach is crowded w pups, the distance feels a lot longer due to your dog socializing so much. I come here w my Belgian malinois-pit bull mix who is highly energetic; she was hesitant w the water at first but now she LOVES it. We aren't at the swimming stage yet; I literally pretended to drown so she could come swim to me, but she just stared blankly at me. Swimming is so good for the muscles and joints of a dog though, especially larger dogs prone to issues in this area! The beach is very well kept, & fairly clean. We don't see much trash at all. There's parking that you pay for using your spot number. I've never had an issue with parking, even on holidays. So grateful to have a dog beach so close to me. Gemma has the most amazing time here & you can tell she loves the experience because when we get home, she walks straight to the shower without snarling at me. Love this place, highly recommend!

Nice area for 4 legs friends. Big area for them to run around both on sand and the water. It's very great place and easy access to it form the parking lot and very close by to the Publix restroom and a restaurant right on one end of the park.

Our European Boxer and English Bulldog love going to Rosie's dog beach. It's a bit of a drive for us from Santa Clarita, but it's well worth it. At Rosie's dog beach you can take your dog of the leash and let them run around and play with other dogs. I don't know what it is, but when we are out for a walk and my dog see's another dog he wants to chase after them to play.... but at Rosie's dog beach there's so many dogs running around that makes your pup relax and have a good time. For the parents and kids, the beach has restaurants near by, beach volleyball, and any other activity you want to get into. Parking is also really affordable. We've been here a number of times, and I've never had issues finding parking.

Great beach with LOTSSSSS of people and dogs on weekends. May not be a great place if your dog does not get along with other dogs! Lots of places to set up your canopy for shade, but you need to come early during summer season to find a spot. Always lots going on and it's fun watching the wind surfers. Great dog beach in Long Beach with many parking spots and volleyball courts set up!

    Walk and bike paths.

Rosie's Dog Beach is a 4 acre beach dedicated to dogs. It's located at Ocean Blvd. between Granada Avenue and Roycroft Avenue in Long Beach. It has volleyball courts and parking lot. Dogs are permitted to be off leash so they can enjoy the sun, water and sand. Overall, this is a great beach for dogs and dog owners.

We had the best time with our 15 year old Apricot Toy Poodle, Chloe, at Rosie's Dog Beach. There was easy parking and the beach was very clean. Most of the dogs were well behaved and having the time of their lives. We will 100% be back to enjoy this beach.

Located in Long Beach with parking lot and street parking available as well. Dogs can be off leash within the designated area. Really fun for dogs to run, play and socialize.

I had never been to Rosie's before and it is a slightly bit less of a drive than Huntington Dog Beach so I decided to try it out. My lab is 13.5 years old and when she was younger she loved the beach, she almost passed away a few months ago and now she bounced back, but the one thing I had regretted when that was happening was not being able to take her one last time to the beach. So on 12/27 I spontaneously threw her in the car and we made the trek to Rosie's to fulfill getting to see her see the beach again in her older age! There is plentiful parking. There were so many spots open that day, I don't know if it's only because it was the holiday or if it's always so empty there. I liked that it's a nice large stretch of beach. There are bathrooms, there are dog waste bags and trash cans, there are volley ball courts, and there are many people enjoying the time with their dogs. My dislikes were that I did see dog waste on the beach people hadn't picked up after themselves. I also saw so many people standing around watching the beach wearing reflective vests, so I couldn't tell if they were just watching the beach to assure people follow the rules or if they were workers there to work on something? But if it's people watching the beach I wish they could catch the people who don't pick up after their dogs. Also, I tried to choose a spot that had zero people nearby to give my lab some space. In her old age she's more grumpy than she used to be and I chose the spot purposefully. I also keep sweaters on her because she has lost allot of weight and she shivers easily, and unfortunately this did bring more attention to her. Somehow a bunch of people all descended at the same time and Elaine did get a bit grumpy and the way one of the people reacted made me wonder if there are allot of negative occurrences at this dog park. Other than this one person's reaction, and one other person who had an uncontrollable large puppy (maybe a dane?), it was an overall pleasant trip. I would probably come here again with one of my other younger dogs in the future.

Ask the Community - Rosie's Dog Beach

Can we bring food on the beach?

Tes you can bring food and they also have vendors selling snacks. But they are mobile so they are moving around. I see people having full on picnics. No bbq!

Is there a lot of dog poop on the beach or do people clean up after there pups?

I have not seen where poop is on the beach. People are very good at cleaning up after the dpgs.i also have never notice any odors

Can you bring lounge chairs to sit or is mostly for walking the dogs?

You can definitely bring lounge chairs and watch your dog play with other dogs :)

Can I bring a 10x10 canopy for shade i have 4 friends with big dogs?

Yes, I've seen others with EZ up canopies.

Is this off leash or do they need to be on leash?

Off leash in the designated areas (between two of the lifeguard towers - they have signs on them). Outside of that perimeter, dogs aren't allowed on the beach. Only the walking path.

Can I fish there while my girlfriend walks the dog?

Yes, I've seen others fish there but they go in the non dog zone

I read that they recommend puppies to be 4Mos and require shot records ? Do they really check and ask for all your info?

No but they should be vaccinated because diseases like parvo last over 7 years in the sand 🤢

Are they strict to go after closing?

Yes. Park ranger waits at the gate off Los Feliz Blvd and Riverside. A few years ago we were at an outdoor movie screening that got out late. Gate was locked right after me I think it was 10pm.

Went last Saturday and it was super packed. Does anyone know if the weekdays are much better?

Yes its not as crowded on weekdays , the earlier in the morning u can go is best , and remember it has been very hot these past few weeks, people are going to the coast for relief from the heat

Are the dogs leashes in the beach? We plan to go at 4 pm

There are signs, to tell you the point where you can let your dogs off leash at this beach. It's closer to the water than the parking lot% it should be obvious when it's ok. Hope this helps. It's a great dog beach.

Do they accept credit card to pay for parking? Can we sit on the beach and relax?

Yes CC accepted. Yes it's like a regular beach but with friendly dogs all around.

Is it open today?do they accept credit card payment for parking?

    Yes

Can you take your dog with you into the restroom? Wondering if I take my dog to the beach by myself how do I watch her if I have to use restroom?

    Yes bathroom is big enough

Anyone know if we can bring our fur kids out here even with the covid19 going on?

Yes u can, I was there on 5/14 the day the beach reopened, the park lot at that time was still closed only open to people who have parking passes , the parking lot may be open now ,if not theres street parking available

Beach and lots closed for virus?

    Yes

Are there volleyball nets there and are dogs allowed near them?

We're planning a trip to Rosie's Dog Beach this week and my kids are telling me they can't swim in the water at a dog beach. Is that right?

    Nope that's wrong.

How close is the street/cars/parking lot? Is it safe for dogs that like to run fast and hard off leash to let their energy out?

The beach is very deep, meaning there's A LOT of sand between the water and the parking lot. Enough to for double volleyball courts, two concrete paths (biking / walking) another large stretch of sand, and then the boundary of the dog beach, which… Read more

Is there a dog friendly place to eat near by?

Long Beach is a very dog loving city so there's quite a few places n 2nd St. in Belmont Shore or you can drive up a few blocks and go to Plunge which is an indoor dog-friendly restaurant with a view. You also have Tequila Jacks and Parker's… Read more

Is this beach enclosed by some sort of fence or something?

There isn’t any fences in the beach area. There is a small fence between the parking lot and the beach, but nothing to hold the dogs in like a regular dog park.

And we do have a go-to dog park for occasions like this, but given an all-day free Saturday, I thought about checking out a new place. And that's how we found this spot. It is what most Yelpers say what it is: small. Prime (my fur baby) is more used to one of those large dirt and grass kinda areas. He enjoyed it anyway since he met new fur-friends and got to play with them for a bit. It worked out even better since my cousin met us there to bring his fur baby to a dog park for the very first time. This was a good first run for him - I figure it a good idea start him out in a small area to see how how reacts with other dogs and mostly so he doesn't get too overwhelmed. From the looks of it, it's safe to say that enjoyed his very first dog park run. Doggy bags and water fountains are provided for both pups and hoomans alike. There are also benches available. Parking is available, both private and street. It is very well maintained, but as small as it is, it shouldn't be that much of an issue. Alas, as nice and clean as it is, we probably won't be back. It just isn't big enough for my pup to run around. However! If you and your pup are more into just chillin', then this is the place.

It's a small but well-planned dog park. I think it was built in 2018 by Mayor Wilson (according to…read morethe plaque). It's directly under the gigantic sign for Signal Hill Auto Square. Despite its small size, there are distinct sections for dogs over 35 lbs and dogs under 35 lbs. The poop-bag dispenser is well stocked, and the doggy drinking fountain works well too. There isn't too much shade for the humans, but there are plenty of benches. Parking is easy (only about ten parking spots).
