This place is an amazing quick hike getaway ! Nestled in the Palos Verdes / San Pedro area . Trails share some rich Dominguez and Sepulveda family history . Check out their natural habitat gardens , wild hares , squirrels and birds. This is my favorite place to hike .

Lots of wildlife around the rocks!

Great escape from the touristy areas way down south in San Pedro. Lots of beautiful black rock formations and photo opportunities. You'll most likely will find a lot of wild life such as hermit crabs wandering through the cracks and crevices. They have a upper park area if you want to be more higher up instead. Restrooms are located here as well. Overall, can't beat the view here and rocky vibes!

There are brass plaques placed throughout the bluff describing the area's rich history. The paved road below leads to the actual beach and more parking below. The large patio to the right is what is left of the Royal Palms Recreation Center. To the left of the road, White Point offers some of the most diverse tide pools in the area.

A wonderful area full of several tide pools. You can find tons of small sea snails, black mussels, small crabs, various sea birds, and the occasional octopus or sea urchin. Parking is pretty limited but you can drive down and park for a fee. Definitely worth a visit to see if you're in the area

I do like the tide pools/beach here, but parking is expensive. It's not like they have much to maintain here, please correct me if I'm wrong... but all I see is a public bathroom and tiny park at the top which I wish they would have put by down by the beach, but I understand they don't want the salty sea breeze on the metal... I would think $1.75 parking meters per hour like other beaches would be sufficient... I see this keeps the crowds down but if you don't want to park up at top and lug all your stuff down it's $10 flat rate.. yeah even for a few minutes so people go down and stay in the car instead of paying the fee. I don't stay all day so it's not worth paying if you are just there a couple hours... I watch the sunset and leave. You can park for free at the tide pools - Ocean Trails at Donald Trump Golf Course. You do have to hike down to the water, but free parking is nice for such a well maintained park/beautiful trails. They get their money from the golfers so we don't have to pay for enjoying the beach... it's a much more beautiful trail/scenery than White Point. The crowds here at White Point are sometimes sketchy too compared to Ocean Trails. I smell weed every time I'm there, granted it is legal to carry, smoking on the beach is not no matter what you are smoking... my kids don't need that in their face especially during Covid so please go smoke in your car or leave it at home. Check the low tide times and please do not let your kids be too close to the waves on the rocks, you know they can get crushed on the rocks and swept out to sea by these waves... I see parents not even watching their little ones. We will only come here if our friends who live right near are going. I think Ocean trails is much better.

Found this park today by accident even tho it was a bit cold we stopped since this park has NO SAND in its playground and its also gated so the lil ones cant go far SCORE !!!! beautiful views and very calming cant wait to go back this week :) LOVE IT !!! FYI park on the street if you can because the lot has parking meters and they only take quarters

This is an iconic park below the cliffs. I have no idea exactly how many years it's been here but it's been a long time. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It's an ole-time surf spot!

Nice views of the beach and cliffs.

It is a nice peaceful park with endless waves and rocks. There is a small park with a playground at the top. The beach park is down the hill and there is a lot of parking available. There is electronic pay stations nearby to pay for the parking spot. There is one section with sand where you can walk towards the beach. There is a strong smell of seaweed and lots of rocks. The park is nice, and it makes it a good quick spot for pictures or to catch a few waves.

You will never realize the rich history of this area until you stop & have a closer look & read the several plaques scattered throughout this beautifully-landscaped park. And I learned from the previous reviews as well. It's all in my 20 photos. There's a baseball field atop the bluff overlooking the cliffs & the sea......what a view. There's a kids' play area and a picnic area. It's a good whale-watching vantage point in season, apparently. But the best part for me, aside from spectacular views, was reading the info on the plaques. Who knew that one (unlikely) legend claims that White Point got its name as a result of a sailor named White jumping ship & swimming ashore at this point. Ala Johnny Depp and the Pirates of San Pedro, haha.... And I didn't know there had been silver mining on Catalina Island (visible offshore) in the mid-1800s. Nor did I know that the island had been owned by the Wrigley Company about a hundred years ago. This park is just before Point Fermin, "under" the Korean Friendship Bell. There was easy street parking even on a crowded Sunday. You can walk down the hill to the tide pools of Royal Palms County Beach to avoid the daily 7-buck parking fee in the beach lot. You are still in Los Angeles here, at the southernmost tip just before Long Beach, but it feels far away from the traffic and the city. What a great day trip: see this park, the Friendship Bell, Point Fermin historic lighthouse, the tide pools, and the various museums in the area. The more I know parks in general, the more there is to appreciate. It's some of the best entertainment around, and it's free.

Sign you will see before the entrance! Free parking on the street. Meter marking inside. $10 to park next to the beach.

I love San Pedro area! I'm a big fan of adventuring near the ocean. This spot has cliffs, rocks, tide pools filled with sea life, and many other things. So the address will take you to white point park. You can park for free on the street, you can pay for meter parking near the park, or you can pay $10 to go down towards the beach. We just parked for free and walked down to the ocean. The tide pools have crabs, fishes, sea urchins, hermit crabs, and other sea life. Great for kids too! I saw people fishing or families bringing a canopy and setting up. I even saw someone bring their kayak. If you go further in there are some areas you might want to dip into! I went into a spot where the waves were broken before they came in. Maybe bring some water shoes cause the rocks may hurt. I wish I brought a snorkel too! Things I did bring: towels, a mat, sunscreen, hat, extra clothes, go pro, sandwhich, hiking shoes, and sunglasses. Would love to visit again(: Enjoy! (:

A great place to spend an afternoon with family. Kids had a great time playing in the tide pools.

Averill is a nice, peaceful spot to escape the rat race for a short while and recharge before continuing with the stress and demands of daily life. Many students, unfortunately, live in foster homes that rarely take the children out into the community to learn how to function in the REAL world. Too many are placed in front of the TV when they are not at school, just being fed and receiving the bare minimum of personal care so CBI is important for them to be able to function in the community after they become adults and age out from qualifying for foster care anymore. The benches by the lake or the gazebo located in the upper part towards the northeast part of AP are especially restful areas to regain your sense of sanity and to recharge. If you happen to be in Pedro, bring a snack and beverage so you can spend time with the ducks and enjoy some downtime in a peaceful place.

There's a nice little path along the sides where it looks out to the Pacific Ocean and the cliffs below. It was low tide so seeing the tide pools was quite beautiful. Along the path are little covered area which are label by number. Like mini covered patio with a table and seat. They too all looks out to the water. I believe there was a total of 8 seating enclosures along the path. Also, loads of squirrels roaming the place like it's nothing. They are not scared of you so be warn. Clearly there were signs not to feed the wildlife but there was people out with bags of peanuts feeding them. In the middle of the park is a little stage area and with benches. I'm sure they have theatre in the park happening if that's set up. And a playground around the side of it. There's also a lighthouse which is a focal point of the park. Situated right in the middle which now double as a museum. It's a cute park that I never knew about. Decent size for picnics or a nice wander around. The view alone along the path was spectacular. Lots of people use this route to run or walk and also walk their dogs. Most people are friendly and will wave or say good morning as they go by. There are 2 little mini parks along this path that people can relax at, in addition to going down to Point Fermin park, where the famous lighthouse is located. I've seen some people sit and have picnics or sit in their cars and enjoy the views. I've also seen some of the neighbors have a house party and people overflow to the parks. It was a wonderful day, and one I recommend for others to attend, not only to feel the vibrations of the bell when it is hit with a large hanging tree trunk, but also to celebrate the liberation that was given to a criminally oppressed people. And to also understand that liberation, although won at battles, still has not full embraced and enveloped all. So that bell has not fully been rung, and thus we must continue, until we hear the greatest knell in history the one that indicates that all humans have an unfettered chance to reach their best future with confidence. The celebration was sponsored by local political players. Suitably, there were a lot of speeches. But I never hate a speech just because its long. I genuinely hear speeches because they might contain words that move me into action or new perspective, and thus I always try to hear them to understand their value. One of the most memorable speeches of the day, was a person who explained that freedom and liberty has not reached all modern day people (duh!) because freedom, true freedom, means that all have a fair and equitable chance to attain economic prosperity. And from my limited perspective, what she said made sense, a whole lot of it. A person might have the freedom to wear what they chose, to eat what they crave, to dance in their style and funk, to offer their devotion to their deity. However, if all these freedoms do not include a chance to build wealth, without external interruption that is driven by who a person is, then freedom is superficial. Yes, money is the root of all evil, but money is also the foundation for legacy, protection and choice, and, well, freedom. And thus, she reminded all present that we must continue to fight against injustice and thus the bell rang and made each of us an instrument of peace. Beyond speeches from political leaders there was also songs performed by vocalists- a mother and daughter. A lot was happening fast, and sometimes the sound system gave up, so I am afraid I did not get their names. But I do remember them singing a song, right before the bell rung that had the following lyrics: "What would you do, if you had nothing to fight for and nothing to die for?" What would a person do in a world marked by substantial peace? Would we be happy or would we miss the fight? Meaning is the gift of the battle the persistence needed to continue even when all seems at rest? Injustice has created warriors that understand that a white flag will never be planted. The day was meant to celebrate freedom and deliver of message of positive togetherness as the moment celebrated Juneteenth using Korean spirt. But the speeches brought the seemingly opposing concepts together using the thread of a universal recognition that freedom is a wonderful thing. This link was greatly conveyed but fell short in the Mexican sweetbreads that had small Juneteeth flags planted on them. I know I am being petty because Mexican bread can be used to celebrate Juneteenth, for sure I get that. But I would have rather had celebratory bites from the Black/African American community. I know I am being petty, but, hey, that is my freedom. That choice seemed more convenient rather than being connected to the greater purpose of freedom. The last activity of the celebration was ringing the actual bell. Like 7 people, grabbed the wooden log. And we gently slammed it into the bell. The bell rung with vibrations that my skin could feel. We could slightly hug the bell to have ur bodies feel the vibrations. And the experience was memorable. I do not know how many people have the opportunity to hug a bell as it sends off vibration after being hit. But if you have the opportunity seize it, I think you will be a better person for it, or at least, know what ringing feels like on the skin not just the ear drums. As I walked back to the car, I enjoyed the blue views and ocean breeze. I also saw a kite flying high. Yes, it had a string to it, but it was flying free.
