I'm very picky when it comes to dog parks, but this one is beyond amazing. You'll see the same people/dogs pretty often, there's plenty of room for dogs to run and plenty of shade, and water stations on opposite ends of the dog yards. I also love how the park has a far off entrance to the parking lot for extra safety in case a dog gets out or rubs off The only down side is people most of the time aren't watching their dogs therefore do not pick up the poop. read more

I've noticed that certain groups tend to be quite exclusive and may not always extend a warm welcome to newcomers. It seems that if you're not already part of their circle, they might not be as inclined to engage with you. In light of this, it might be a good idea to maintain a respectful distance. For instance, I spend 30 minutes after they arrived at the park, to give them some space and avoid any potential awkwardness. read more

In my opinion, one of the best dog parks within 8 miles of the area. Most of the dogs I've encountered are friendly. Of course, there are always exceptions. But, pretty much every dog owner I've seen/met so far is pretty responsible. When it rains, the park can get stay pretty muddy for a while, so just keep that mind if you plan on coming. They do have a hose at the main entrance, but you won't be able to use it unless you either have the turning mechanism, or you bring a wrench or something that can turn the hose bibb. There are water fountains on both ends of the large dog park, and one fountain on the small side. There are also several dog baggie stations that are usually pretty well stocked. Just be careful with all the holes dogs have dug in the past, there are quite a few of them on the far side of the large dog park. Also, prepare to hear some of the little doggies bark pretty much the entire time you're there. In the past, I have encountered a dog owner who got a little too comfortable telling me what to do with one of my dogs. I haven't had any interactions like that in a while though, and everybody else I've met has been really nice and polite. Overall, this is one of the best dog parks to come to. Friendly community of dog owners who come here regularly makes this place a nice park to visit, but there are more than the usual amount of unpicked dog poop scattered around the park and plenty of gopher holes and squirrels to distract the dogs. We had to keep steering our dog away from digging at the gopher holes. The drinking fountains work well, but due to the large number of dogs, the water gets dirty quickly. Parking is easy and there is plenty of shade provided by the large trees in the park. You just have to watch where you're going to avoid stepping into a warm pile of feces. read more

I love this dog park!!! There is so much land for the dogs to play I take my dog twice a week sometimes three times and he will stay here for hours!! The dogs are so friendly and the owners. There are a few dogs my dog doesn't get along with but this park is so big I take him on the other side of the field to play with another dog. Also the part for small dogs is really big as well out of all the dog parks I've tried out this one is my number one go to. This is a fenced dog park and I recommend bringing your own water bowl for you dog. Also there are no poop bags available so byopb. Although people are good at picking up their poop here, luckily I have not stepped in poop yet. (P.s) there is a white lab that attacked my dog the second time I came here so please be aware and keep close to your dog. I'm pretty picky when it comes to dog parks. I prefer there to be actual grass but I understand that living in LA, that's not always possible--especially during times of drought. How I rate dog parks are based on the following: 1. Gound covering: Grass earns highest marks followed by grass-dirt combo, astroturf, just dirt, and wood chips as last. (I hate wood chips, they visually hide everything so you'll often step in dog crap that's hard to see and dirt clouds goes flying with every step you or your dogs make). 2. Size: can my dog run laps or just basically trot in a small circle. Also, is the park is split into large and small dog areas. 3. Drinking fountain: every good dog park need this and it shouldn't be some rusty, crusty, algae and moss forming spout. 4. Irrigation: sounds odd but it goes tandem with the drinking fountain and ground covering. If there is no drainage in place, then the drinking fountain area may become a muddy or still water pond. Similarly, without proper cleaning and irrigation for astroturf parks, urine that is not regularly washed away will result in an entire park smelling like baked dry urine. 5. Amenities for Humans: places for me to sit or stand under shade while my dogs runs around. Also, is there a double-gated entry? Are there poop bag dispensers? Are there pooper-scoopers with multiple trash cans throughout? I do not rate on people because that cannot be controlled. You may encounter horrible people/dogs at the park who do not frequent it on the day of your visit. Similarly, you may meet the nicest people/dogs who are out-of-towners simply passing through. Unlike staff who work a business, patrons are a much more volatile variable one cannot determine without multiple, regular visits. Anyway, here is how Arbor stacks up: 1. Ground covering: more dirt than grass these days; when I first started coming to this park in 2015, they had about a 50/50 ratio of grass to dirt but since 2018 or so (maybe because of the previous drought), its become more dirt than grass. Still, it's better than wood chips (IMO) which basically only visually conceal dirt and poops but any movement results in dust clouds. (3 stars) 2. Size: the small dog area was created by fencing off a portion of the park (as when I started going in 2015, there was no small dog area). THAT area seems small to me but I otherwise find the large dog area to be decently sized (5 stars) 3. Drinking area: on the eastern side of the park is a cement area with the drinking fountain, this place is often wet or damp from spilled or running water. it is occasionally muddy. I generally steer my dogs away from this area to prevent them from getting wet. There is a second fountain on the west side of the park but it is often broken. (4 stars) 4. Irrigation: there are sometimes muddy parts near the permitter fence which butts up against the golf course or soccer/baseball field but overall, its fine. (4 stars) 5. Amenities for humans: there are a few sparse benches throughout and quite a few trees offer scattered shade. Most of the shade is standing space unless you opt to bring a folding chair (many other dogs owners do). There are 2 double gates (a large one which I would consider the main entrance on the South side of the park and small side gate on the west side of the park). There are multiple poop bag dispensers as well as multiple trash cans/scoopers along the perimeter (3 stars) Overall (not a strict mathematic average): 4 stars mainly for the large size of the park and the decent parking. Most other dog owners I've met here are friendly but given the size of the park, I do find that many don't notice their dogs pooping as I will often see piles throughout. I've also seen owners letting their dogs off leash beyond the dog park are which they shouldn't do (according to the posted signs), but they likely do this because the area outside of the dog park area has much more grass. TIPS: 1. The entrance to the dog park is a bit hidden from Lampson and easy to accidentally drive past, the dog park is BEHIND the business building but not easily accessible from the business building parking lot. 2. On weekends when there are soccer games in Arbor Park (the non dog potion), parking may be more difficult. Watch out for kids and off-leash dogs when parking. read more

My dog told me to update. These were her words. I don't like coming here very much because I am a lazy dog now and don't enjoy running as much as I should. Mama says I am a cattle dog but I don't see any cattle here. I do see a lot of dogs of different sizes and owners on their phones or standing in small groups gossiping. Most dogs are friendly. They always come over to my mama and expect her to pet them. I growl at them if they get to close. There is a lot of space here. There is also a small obstacle course. But Im to lazy to try it. I saw some cubes of different heights. I guess they are for jumping on. Once in a while Ill find some poor sucker who thinks they are fast. Your not fast. Im fast. That is when I want to be fast. When Im thirsty there is a fountain that sprays all over my mouth. There are several public water bowls full of cooties. But I don't care. I love Cooties. The more Cooties the better. I usually come here on weekends when my daddy is working. He doesn't know mama puts me in her good car. We usually vacuum my hair out before he gets home. Sometimes there is some mud here and my paws get dirty, so we have to use these wet smelly wipes to clean me up. Mama was mad because her new Puma shoes got dirty too. Its her fault trying to be all fancy at the park. The parking lot is dirty too, so mamas tires get dirty. She doesn't like that. I can last about 30 minutes and I usually pee about 15 times while I am here. There are plenty of poop bags, so I dont know why there is so many piles of doo doo everywhere. People really need to clean up their poop. I will come here to play. But only because my mama calls me her little sausage. I guess I need more exercise. I secretly do have friends here. This is a tucked away park with a large big dog area and a dinky small dog area sectioned off on the side. My dog is a small dog, but since the park was pretty empty, we hung out with the big league. I went on a weekday past lunch time and met a lot of senior citizens with their companions. Everyone I met was very friendly - the dogs were gentle as well. It became a good party. The grass has died in patches, so when my dog ran chasing after her ball she would create little sand storms here and there. It was kind of cute in a very western cowboy movie kind of a way - but it definitely meant a dusty sandy dog on my way home. There are water fountains and benches, which is convenient. Quite a bit of large trees too, giving the hoomans some shade relief. I really enjoyed the overall vibe of the park. The only cringe was the strong smell of pee in the entrance portion of the park... I'm not sure if it's always that stinky or it had just been extremely hot on the day of my visit and the smell just intensified. But then it is a dog park, and dogs pee, and pee smells - so not really a complain-worthy point here I guess. read more

First time coming was a Friday Around noon. Had a wonderful time, dog owners were nice and dogs were even friendlier towards my 4 month old pup. If it were for this one experience, I'd give the park 5 stars. Came the next day, Saturday around 4pm. The park was crawling with dogs, probably 40 or 50 dogs. We walked in and my dog was instantly covered by other dogs coming to smell her. A few dogs were mean towards her but she tried to stay close to me. But ONE dog in particular.. a small chihuahua/Germán shepherd mixed DEMON RAT would not leave my dog alone!! It would constantly chase, bark and bite at my dog! My dog could not stop running because even if she came between my legs the other dog would not stop coming for her! Even I was a afraid! I'm looking around frantically for the owner to call their dog, maybe apologize... but nothing. That dog caused such a commotion that other dogs are now chasing my poor pup around. And barking. Probably 6 or 7 dogs chasing my poor puppy. At once point, she slipped on the dirt, fell backwards, and was still crowded by these dogs. We left within 10 minutes. And already her fur was so wet from the bites, slobber, and muddy from slipping on the dirt. Im annoyed that no dog owners called their dog away, everyone just stood there watching. We've been to other dog parks before and that was by far the worst experience we've ever had. Maybe because it was a Saturday, Idk. Nevvvver going back again on a weekend. read more

I've been here a couple of times and every time I go there are always a lot of dogs and parking! It's great to be able to stop by at your convenience and know that there is a dog for your dog to play with. They have a ramp in the large dog area if you want to train your dog to go up and down it. They recently added a new small dog area which I think is great since my pup is on the smaller end. The large dog area is quite large and sometimes I will see poop that the owner may have not seen their dog drop. So it always worries me that I might accidentally step on it. I don't feel that issue with the smaller dog area as the area is much smaller so it's easier to catch your pup pooping. Other than that I would recommend. read more

Out of the three dog parks I have accompanied my wife to this has got to be my favorite thus far. Arbor Dog Park is located in Los Alamitos and is a bit hidden away off of Lampson Ave. The Park itself sits back behind a large lot next to a baseball diamond and a large open field which are used for pratices during their respective seasons. Arbor Dog Park has several entrance gates on each side of the park and multiple benches with which to sit as your pooches run about. The park is large, open and is a combined running space for big and small dogs alike (no separation here). There are multiple trees throughout, doggie bag areas and plenty of tennis balls lying around for your dogs to play with. Two separate water areas for your dogs are also within the confines of the fenced area. The parking is good but can be hard to find during sports practices in the field next door but additional parking can be found in a large lot behind the park. No matter what time of day this park always seems to have a steady stream of other dogs for yours to play with. The park is kept up reasonably well but there are a lot of gopher holes strewn about the grass that you may be wary of. You will also sometimes find gophers but they tend to be relatively harmless. The owners of the dogs here seem to be friendly and have a good maintaining of their respective dogs behavioral habits. I have rarely seen dogs getting into altercations here but it does happen at all parks so you do assume some risk as you would at any park. The park does close at sundown and a police officer will drive to the gates to usher you out. There is no set close time other than when it gets dark so be forewarned. You will also often find treats or other small doggie items in boxes outside the gate which can be taken home for your pets free of charge. This is a great large park for your dogs to get some exercise and fresh air. It is larger than Fullerton and always seems to have other dogs around so your pets aren't alone. read more

Love this place. Since my friend moved from Anaheim to Long Beach earlier this year, we started meeting at this dog park to get our dogs some extra exercise as opposed to some previous dog parks now, due to a middle ground meeting spot for us. This park is very big compared to some others that we go to, and it is located near a golf course. It is not on the public street but behind a business in between the golf course and a baseball diamond, so it's quieter. The grass is kept up better than most other dog parks we visit, and the dogs that come there get along better than other parks that we visit. For the most part there are good owners there with the exception of some. People that come here are definitely friendlier. I went back to some old dog parks recently and ended up very disappointed to the size and the rude crowds after being at this one for so long. The only complaints here is to watch out for the gopher holes. My dogs have hurt their legs a few times but it has been years, and also the fact that they have no lights. The cops will come when it is really dark to make sure that everyone leaves. When it starts getting dark at 5pm soon, we are going to be out of luck. I get home early enough to maybe be able to squeeze an hour in when this happens, but my friend doesn't get home until near 5:45, so we won't have our frequent hang outs for a while unless it is a weekend. Really like this park. Big and small dogs are mixed here and you see dogs ranging from 3 lb Chihuahuas to Great Danes. I definitely recommend going here! read more

Came on a weekday and there were prob 20+ owners with 30+ dogs- and one regular told me that it gets much much more crowded on the weekends! Sounds like a party:) Everyone here is really friendly, nice, and most of all patient with my scaredy-cat dog :) gophers live at this park so there are tons of little holes and everyone once in a while a little furry head pops up lol. This park is local to me and I am there often especially with working from home - there is a small and large park; both are gated well, have watering stations and have safe two door entrances. I have never personally had an issue with my dog/owners and hope to keep it that way. The park is large and flat made up of patchy grass and dirt so my one complaint is the holes - wish they were filled more often as every now and then you see a dog running full sprint and their leg gets caught in a hole. There is a hose but I think you need a key so not really understanding that whole purpose behind it. read more

One of the nicest parks I've been to. The dogs here like to stay out of trouble. Fights are rare, short and haven't gotten bloody. The owners are mostly friendly regulars that just want to watch their dogs having fun in a safe and clean environment. WARNING: If you see a homely and erm... extremely well-fed woman in gym clothes with a brown ponytail and sunglasses I'd suggest avoiding her, she appears to be a regular. She will literally follow you around the park to call you out on whatever tiny infraction she can invent in her blessed but sad little brain. From when she came into the park she spent 90% of her time watching (scrutinizing) other people's dogs instead of her own. Personally I like it here, but lady, if you're only finding problems here, then go home maybe? Don't come. Keep your sadness and anger to yourself, and let the puppies play. I hope you find peace one day angry white lady, but I'm avoiding you like the plague from now on. Beware of the BEAST fellow park partakers. read more

We love Arbor Dog Park! We've been going to this park since 2011 and I can't think of another park that has such nice patrons. We have a regular group or two that we see daily and on weekends. We watch out for each other's dog and help out when dog owners are distracted. My only complaint is that since the park re-opened in July 2020, post Covid lock down, there are a TON of gopher holes. There almost isn't an area of the park that is not saturated with gopher holes. Sadly, the park maintenance has gone down hill in recent year and I suspect this is just a symptom of that larger issue. It's a liability, so it surprise me that it's been allowed to get so bad. The dogs still manage to have good runs and get lots of playing done. The people are mostly responsible dog owners. Every once in a while you'll meet someone that is a little extra salty, but they don't seem to stick around. There's plenty of shade and if you walk the perimeter of the fence, you can get your steps in for the day. read more

Well the day started off great! Our dog made so many friends, played so much and was running and so excited to have so many friends to play with! But unfortunately a local Karen who's "been going there for 15 years" had to ruin our fun. Watch out for an older lady and her husband (who called me a bitch) with a ton of mini greyhounds and other small dogs that she brings into the LARGE dog section. My dog was very excited to meet them but her dogs were snapping at mine and growling (obviously they're terrified bc she's bigger than them and she's excited and wagging her tail trying to play). Her n her husband called me a bitch and told me to leave and I reminded her of the small dog park side which she should have been on but her reasoning for not being on that side is because She's "been there for 15 years and never had a problem" yet three medium & big sized dogs left right before we did as soon as she brought her tiny dogs on the large dog side. This park is over run by independent pet sitters who bring in large packs of dogs. Rules specify 3 dogs to one human but that rule apparently doesn't apply to these folks. It is out of control and these "business owners" are unable to control their dogs. They are unable to see when their dog poops, which explains the many land mines. Dog fights are a common occurrence due to the drastic difference between the human to dog ratio. These pet sitters are usually here around noon (popular time for clients to request walks), so I would definitely avoid the park at this time of you can. Hopefully the city will get control of this issue or it will take a lawsuit to do so. read more

I came here late afternoon with my Nani-bear. She's been here before but not with lots of dogs. I think because the days are getting longer, the place was filled with dogs of all sizes. She was a bit overwhelmed with all the dogs. But give her a few minutes and she was running around and playing. But what a bunch of very friendly dogs and dog owners alike. It's a great place to just bond with other dog lovers. Love this place ... I know I missed the long beach dog UYE ... But there should be one here too. It's still well kept. For the most part everyone does clean up after their dog. Oh and I recommend wearing tennis shoes. I went in flip flops and realized that there was a lot of doodie residue on the grass and I had a paranoia that doodie got on my feet. But enough of doodie talk. Other things you can enjoy at this dog park is watching other dogs go at it. There was a man with two little pugs and every 15 minutes the male pug will mount the female pug and start workin' it!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this dog park! It's a bit hidden away but there are always a lot of people here. Also, this dog park isn't like any of your other dog park. This dog park doesn't have a divider between small and big dogs. All kinds of sizes are welcome here without any separation. The people here are very friendly and lots of regulars. There are plenty of shade and benches but lots of people like to bring their own chairs and chill here for a while. Also, there's lots of grass so you don't have to worry much about dirt. You do have to be careful where you walk because some dogs like to dig so there might be some holes around the park. Just make sure you look where you are walking. I would drive the extra 15 minutes to go to this dog park over the HB and GG park. Those aren't that great. read more

For the most part I have enjoyed coming to this park. Until a red pit bull named "MOCHA" felt the need to attack my Rat Terrier, and me. See pictures of my leg with mouth imprint and teeth scratch marks after picking up my dog to avoid it getting bit. With NO apology from the middle aged male owner. Myself and several others left after this. I agree with others that this park could be nice, however, incompetent owners who let their very large dogs trample over and start multiple dog fights due to not making their animals behave, or just their sheer lack of ignorance in knowing what 'aggressive behavior' looks like astounds me. There are also numerous owners who refuse to pick up after their animals. This is not your own back yard. No wonder it has to be closed every Thursday morning for a routine cleaning. Now, let's not let this overshadow the great owners with friendly playful dogs who are a pleasure to be around. But if your dog is 1)aggressive, 2) unruly, 3) completely untrained, 4) INJURES others......STAY HOME, and seem professional training help. read more

On our first visit we got lost, because this park is a bit difficult to find. Then, my dog got attacked by a crotchety dog. It happened more than once, and at one point they got into a fight. The owner, a man with his wife and teenaged daughter, got hit in the face while trying to separate the two, and consequently his lip was bleeding. His teen daughter cried out, "Oh no, dad's bleeding!" And drama ensued. We hadn't been there for all that long, so I didn't necessarily want to leave. Part of the issue is that my dog is a moron and he doesn't know when to quit or when to stop bugging other dogs who don't want to be bugged. I was holding on to his collar for awhile, just getting him to settle down, and the man walks over and tells me it's okay to let him go. I looked at him skeptically, and thought this was a bad idea. Yet, he and his wife assured me that they would take their dog to the other end of the park and all would be well. Um...this park, like most, is just a large square with no dividers. And, dogs run all over from one end to the other. So, how exactly would doing this keep them apart? After a while I gave in and let go of my pup. Lo and behold, the same thing happened again, and we had to leave. Since their dog was the aggressor, I felt that they should take their crappy dog out, but whatever. I pretty much decided never to come here again. However, I found myself in the area once again yesterday, so we made another go of it. This time, everything went smoothly. I got poop on my shoe, and since I was wearing sandals, I got some on my foot too (which was awesome...), but no one bled and there weren't any altercations. My dumb dog ate another dog's little ball, which was sad, but that was the only casualty of the day. read more

Some of the owners can be a bit, how do you say, prissy though. This is the OC so I expect that. I have read a few reviews where Rotties and Pits get profiled and I have even seen this happen. As a Pit owner I typically laugh at those that are Anti-Pit since they are some of the most loving animals on the planet. Theres no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners. And you people who pick up your little ankle biters the minute it starts whining arent helping anyone. read more

Why? - pretty much all grass so your furry friend won't get dirty - water fountain, clean water - responsible owners clean after their own puppies' poop - well behaved dogs, so no separation fence between large and small dogs are necessary - plenty of parking - plenty of benches, regulars who bring their own chairs to set under the trees. Ample shady area even on a sunny day. - quiet neighborhood. Actually it's adjacent to a golf course! There are dogs who play with others, and those who just sit out on their own. Both are welcome. But irresponsible or over protective owners are. The regulars would tell you to keep your distance if your puppy is a bully! Also beware of all the holes that the dogs dug up. I don't know how many people I've witnessed trip and fall over those... I prefer this place over the Home Run dog park, which is closer to where I live. It's worth the drive to make Koa happy! We have been to several other dog parks/beaches and this is the one that I feel is the safest and most friendly. The most important thing is that 99.9% of the dog owners that frequent this park are responsible and caring owners. They actually pick up after and watch their dogs! One of the cleanest dog parks I have been to. I enjoy taking my dog here on occasions since he has a lot of clean space to roam (they redid it so there are no dirty patchy areas!) There are plenty of poop bag dispensers and trash cans for you to throw away your dog's business. Very shady if you go a little before sunset so it's nice. Most of the regulars are very nice and will have small talk with you. However, there are a few regulars who aren't so nice. Their dogs tend to be aggressive towards other dogs and then the owners get irritated as if we can't control our own dogs.. so be careful with them too. I've seen it happen most of the time I come here and it ends up being the same dogs with the same owners. read more

A little difficult to find at first but great dog park. Turn in just past the business park where there's a break in the fence & follow that road back to the park. Plenty of parking, lots of space to run, poop bags dispensers, trash cans all over the park (so you don't have to walk all over the place with the stinky poop bag), dog water fountain, etc. When I was there most of the owners were pretty good about paying attention to their dogs and were very friendly. My only complaint was there was a ton of mud around the water fountain, thank goodness I always have a towel in my trunk b/c my pups were pretty muddy. My pups and I will be back again read more
