Sometimes a girl just craves a big ole burger. Fortunately, I stumbled upon this little dive and there's no turning back now. I had the Roquefort's steer burger, or so they say. It was a huge angus patty topped with a mild white cheese, and topped with Roquefort's or some sort of blue cheese dressing, lettuce and tomato. Was it really Roquefort's? Quite possibly. I really expected more of a sharp blue cheese flavor rather than the mild cheese flavor. Still, it was tasty and made with good, quality meat. When I say the burger was huge, I mean the thing was almost as big as my face. Instead of fries, I opted for a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, which was not likely homemade, but still good. Then for dessert, I couldn't resist a slice of chocolate cream pie. I have no shame in saying that I ate every bite of it too! It was delicious! In talking with the waiter, I learned that they have daily specials that include fresh fried fish and shrimp and cheese grits, which I can't wait to try. The price was reasonable. Lunch set me back about $15, which sounds steep, but wasn't considering the quality and portions. The service was great! I would highly recommend trying Roshell's. read more

Stopped by here today based off Yelp reviews. Old school diner feel when u walk in. Staff was nice, owner was a really nice lady. Prices are really good. Me and my BF ate for $15. We cant do that anywhere. DOES NOT ACCEPT PLASTIC! so glad we scraped up cash BUT the owner was so nice and trusting she was like "dont worry about it! When you finish u can just go to the ATM!" I ordered a burger and fries and it was HUGE!! was really good! My BF had a veggie plate, mashed potatoes, field peas, fried okra, fries and hush puppies..he ate it all! And he is so picky! Wonderful food and always great service I never leave there hungry. If you go you must try my personal favorite the Mack Attack - It's 3 8oz patties with all the trimmings the best burger in Mobile. Be warned though this burger is UTTERLY MASSIVE TO AN OBSCENE SIZE it literally consumes a regular size dinner plate almost. Unless you can EAT just go with the smaller steers because the Mack is a F***ing Hoss of a burger and most people will end up taking half of it home. My only gripe and it's kind of a big one is they don't accept credit or debit cards there which sucks because I rarely carry cash. As to everything else it's great and you can walk out for under $15 full enough to puke and take a nap. A+ read more

Roshell's is an old school type of place. Good homemade hamburgers, crinkle cut fries, seafood, and a friendly staff. I had the bacon cheeseburger po-boy which was great. It was a huge burger on French bread. They cooked it on the grill right in front of me and personalized the way I wanted it. It was big enough for two people! Crinkle cut fries were hot and crispy any complemented the burger. If you're in Mobile and want to try something different than McDonald's or 5 Guys, give Roshell' a chance. read more

Not knowing where to go in the area, we saw lots of cars in their parking lot. Always a good sign. The staff was very polite and the food was excellent. My husband got the Jubilee and I got a cheeseburger. Service was fast and friendly. I liked that the lady at the register said "Thank you, and have a blessed day." If you haven't been here yet you need to try it. It looks like a little hole in the wall however the place has been in business for 60 years and has a lot of history in it. They have one of the best hamburgers that I have ever had french fries were great barbecued beans were really good and the service was fantastic. read more

Yaaaaassss!!! The burgers are delicious! The patties are actually the same size as the big sesame seed buns, which is highly appreciated. I had the Bacon Cheese Steer & the husband had the Ranch Steer (double meat), both with fries & we were both thoroughly stuffed (he had to finish mine bc that's what men do, right?) If you get a burger.. that may pretty much fill most normal folks and then some so watch it when thinking about ordering anymore food. Me and a buddy of mine went to Roshell's last week for lunch, and if you enjoy great tasting food, and don't mind the Waffle House type atmosphere, then this is the place for you to try. Don't get me wrong, the food beats WH up and down all day long. I got one of those Garlic Burgers, and that thing was huge, greasy and good. My buddy liked his double Garlic Burger also. Service was awesome, especially with it being as busy as it was. Again, if your looking for that place that your more concerned with it being all nice and tidy, then this isn't the place for you to go and eat at. Perhaps you need to call in your order, but if you don't mind that and are just looking for some great, delicious food, then this is it. Price was decent also. I shall return...... read more

Really big really good burgers. Huge burgers. If you are looking for a greasy burger fix, this is it. A little bit of an old timey hole in the wall. The only down side is the place is cash only. Great burger though. read more

Visited once again tonight and the food was sub par. It wasn't great but not horrible either. I had a burger with fries. Pretty simple choice, only complaint is the meat was pretty tasteless and the bacon wasn't edible. Fries were lukewarm and hard with no salt. I won't be rushing back to get food here again anytime soon. read more

This is a local gem. Originally Mac's Wheelhouse, Mac passed and his wife Roshell took over. They have a great local supplier for seafood, but still I always ask how are the oysters. I've never been disappointed. It's a small restaurant and you'll see a mixture of blue collar (who usually come in big groups in big trucks and sit in the back room) and other locals. I often see my orthodontist (now retired and a widower) there. Their hamburger consistently places in the top ten in a local poll. Their mixed salad is decent, not scrimpy. Their blue plates include fresh vegetables. They get busy, but they hustle. Please be patient. We go at 11:20 a.m. and it's not bad. Once, their dishwasher pitched a fit when we were there because someone did greet him when he arrived for work. Roshell never missed a beat and kept on cooking at the grill. He eventually calmed down. A hint: to exit the parking lot, drive to the back and take a left to hit the side street with a light. You'll never be able to exit left towards downtown, otherwise. This is a Top 5 burger in Mobile for me. It's a big, sloppy burger that won't break your wallet. Just a good, old-school burger, nothing too fancy. I can't speak for other items on the menu besides their burger, though. But I know this: this is the place to grab a burger. read more

The is a great "old school" place to grab a bite to eat. Extremely reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. The steer burgers are off the chart good and the feel of the old Mobile restaurant is very nice. But if you go, be sure to have cash or a check. No plastic is accepted here. read more

I am not sure why I have waited this long to post about this place. I have had burgers and I have had BURGERS. This is a GREAT place for sure. You get a great filling meal for an incredibly reasonable price. There are more items on the menu and I have tried many other than just the burger. Well worth it. Only two downfalls that you may find or may call downfalls...you have to pay with cash and it's sometimes difficult to get in and/or out of the parking lot (but do-able). They do not charge extra for the to-go boxes like another "Famous" Burger place close by. That would be ridiculous to charge extra for to-go don't you think. LOL. You have to try this place out...
