Unfortunately, a lot of the stores have moved…read moreout over the years because the area has gone down since they built the huge River City Marketplace. I just hope it doesn't go down anymore than it already has. But it continues to stay pretty busy and it has Publix as the large anchor store here. JSO (Jacksonville Sheriff's Office) has a large sub-station in this shopping center, so thanks to that, I always feel safe here. If it weren't for that fact, I honestly don't know that I'd continue to shop here. Parts of the parking lot have been repaved... others have not. So, depending on where you are in the parking lot, watch out for large potholes! In addition to Publix, DD's Discounts has just opened a new, large store here. You'll also find a Family Dollar, Sally Beauty Supply, Bealls Outlet, GameStop, and Bailey's Gym. There's also quite a few smaller stores here. If you're looking for something to eat, there's China Buffet, Cici's Pizza, and Firehouse Subs (to name a few). In the parking lot, you'll find Checker's and Starbucks in their own buildings. I remember when they built the SBUX here... I honestly didn't think it'd stand a chance, so I'm honestly surprised to see it still standing. You'll still see Dollar Tree and Radio Shack on the large sign for the shopping center; however, Radio Shack is about to go (they have their "going out of business" signs up) and Dollar Tree has moved down the street a few blocks into it's own building.

Today, my wife made a special trip to buy the makings for a fruit salad. She by-passed all the other groceries, because she always gets good quality fruit from Sam's. The store is part of the Ross Dress for Less corporation so I think they may get the the left overs that Ross does not want or does not sell. In browsing I do not hear the customers complaining about the lack of inventory or styles. I think most people expect to just stop by and see if they can grab something nice occasionally. If you like wall art, there is alot of strange wall art to look at and possibly work into your decor. Today there were tons of plastic seasonal planters which I felt were a bit too expensive for the store. I did end up buying a new wind chime for my front porch for $8.99 which I though was a bargain considering the weight of the chime. If you want higher quality items this is probably not the store for you but if you are looking for a possible cheap cool item....occasionally...stop by.

With better shopping centers on Dunn Avenue now, I'm not sure this place is going to get any better. The parking lot is in pretty bad shape. A lot of pot holes. Definitely plenty of places to park since a lot of the business have pulled out. Country Cabin is located here. It's a great little local restaurant with some good southern cooking. Ship 2 Shore Seafood is also located here at the back of the plaza in the corner. There's a pawn shop, a coin laundry, an eyeglass place, a hearing aid place, a small jeweler, a cell phone repair place, a shop that sells dance wear, a dentist, a chiropractor, and even an internet cyber cafe...... to name a few. There's a Vystar drive-up ATM in the middle of the parking lot which is convenient. Once upon a time ago, this Walgreens was Family Meds Pharmacy. It's located in the building that houses Family Care Partners. I found this pharmacy about 15 years ago when I started seeing one of the doctor at Family Care. It became my primary pharmacy very quickly because of the awesome customer service. There was only one pharmacist and two technicians and they all knew me. I get so many meds filled each month, that I would walk in the door and they'd say, "Hi Amy!" Sad or good? You decided! LOL Then around 2006 (if memory servers correctly), Walgreens bought them out. My same pharmacist and technicians stayed on for several years after the change. Even though some things changed, I still received the same great service as always because they had known me for so long. I'm sad to say now that my pharmacists and techs are gone. I guess things can't always stay the same. But, I do like the pharmacists and techs they have there now. I still get much better customer service at this Walgreens than I do from the big stores. When I say small, I mean small. There's no drive-thru... you'll actually have to walk into the building and then into the pharmacy. They have a few aisles and you can find your more common over-the-counter medications here. They also have some snacks available and even a small selection of greeting cards. The big Walgreens over on the westside of town have been ticking me off for a while now. They manage to screw my prescriptions up several times per month. I'm very glad to be back on this side of town again so I can use this particular Walgreens. I know they can be trusted!
