Rose and her crew are phenomenal. The food is always fresh and tasty. I love to cook, but with a job and two kids, time is at a premium. While I will still make some quick dishes and the occasional more involved meal, not having to cook is nice. This is where Rose's comes in. It fills that mid-week hump with something homemade, but without the time and effort. I have never ordered the pot pies or the shepherd's pie. I always order one of the rotating season dishes, but I have been ordering from Rose's for years, as in over 10 years. Wow, I just realized that! Anyway, it has been the rare occasion that my wife and I haven't found it utterly delicious. We've ordered soups and salads, as well. The samosas are incredible. The beet salad is wonderful. I also love that it's not a subscription service. I can order when I want and if I want to skip a few weeks (or more), I just don't order anything. It's easy, convenient, and delicious! read more

My husband and I have been getting Rose's Homedish since at least 2009. It's a godsend! Rose offers a tremendous variety of meals - definitely something for everyone. My all-time favorite is her bouillabaisse soup. She sends out an email on Friday with the following week's choices, and delivers them on Tue., Wed. or Thur. I find that I can heat virtually everything in the microwave, although she gives directions for heating in the oven or on the stove top. Furthermore, the generous portions usually are sufficient for four meals (two meals for the two of us). After over 65 years of cooking, I'm sick of it, and we depend heavily on Rose's deliveries. I order from Rose's every week. I have for a long time, and her food is excellent. I have to disagree with Jennifer B's. post. I haven't ordered soup in a while, but I have had a few different ones and they are all delicious. I order the shepard's pie often because it is so good and homemade. I don't like salty food and haven't found any of it to be salty. Jennifer, if you haven't tried the salmon in parchment on this weeks menu, you're missing out. It's one of my favorites among so many other dishes. I also disagree on the post of packets of frozen vegetables. As I mentioned earlier, I have been ordering for a long time and I know she doesn't use frozen vegetables. I think you should give Rose's another try. read more

We eat Rose's home dish weekly and enjoy all the vegetarian options. I noticed the Shepard's pie review and am unfazed by that opinion since what a pile of cooked vegetables looks like under a mashed potato topping does not determine how yummy we have found it! The veggies are fresh and crisp when the recipe says they will be, and the seasonings are sooo tasty. The fact that our family can place an order for a specific night and not have to worry about dinner after a full day makes me smile inside and out! In this fast food and fast paced world, Rose's is Ithaca's answer to fresh, local eating at home....and our family of three typically has enough left over for lunch for one of us the next day. I don't know what I would do without Rose's! With two little kids and busy jobs, I order multiple meals every week from Rose. I get to serve my family healthy and delicious meals with minimal effort on my end. What's even better is that there is a good variety. We LOVE the buttermilk fried chicken, the ribs, and the Mediterranean platter. The Indian dishes are always amazing too. The dishes are light on salt, which is great as I feed them to my toddler, but still flavorful enough for the adults. The portions are enough for the whole family (2 adults and 1 child) for dinner, with leftovers for at least one-two portions of lunch the next day. Yes, this home delivery casserole service really is as good as it gets. A friend tipped me off to Rose's Home Dish several months ago. I'm very fussy about my food, so at first I ordered one casserole, which was excellent - no other word for it - just excellent. Since then My wife and I have been regular weekly customers (sometimes twice weekly) of Rose's casseroles - pork roast, mediterranean platter (vegetarian), paella, even a superb mac and cheese. I have been using Rose's Home Dish for more than 10 years. I love the convenience and just about all the food she prepares. You have an incredible choice of delicious, fresh and healthy dishes. We particularly like her salmon in parchment, basil/goat cheese tortillas, bouillabaisse, quesadillas, gumbo, beef burgundy, lasagna and shepherd's pie with chicken. Even her macaroni and cheese is an amazing treat, unlike any I have ever had. I've ordered Rose's home dish several times. Her samosas and Indian salad with beets was wonderful. I've ordered them more than once. Her portions are large, but you can order a half portion which is plentiful for one person. Unlike a previous comment, I have found that the dishes I've ordered tended to be somewhat under seasoned with salt, which is fine because it can always be added to suit individual tastes. She also offers vegetarian and gluten free options for many of her dishes. For healthful eating when you do not have time to cook, I highly recommend her food as a convenient alternative to a restaurant meal. read more

We have been ordering from Rose for almost 8 years. With two young children and two working parents, our family relies on Rose to provide a delicious, locally sourced, well-prepared meal almost every week. Our favorites are the salmon cakes, chicken parmesan, spicy basil stir-fry, and giant quesadillas. The only issue we've ever had is that at times the food is underseasoned - but we'd rather have it less spicy/salty/peppery and add more to our taste than have it the other way. We started ordering Roses when we brought home our newborn. Every meal has been absolutely delicious. You don't have to prepare anything, all you have to do is heat it up. So easy and so fresh. It says it serves 2 to 3 people, but we have leftovers almost every time. You definitely get what you pay for. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality and amount of food that you get. I would highly recommend Roses home dish for anybody. We have not had a bad meal yet. read more

We've been ordering from Rose for 3 years, and love the food. My husband is English and he loves the shepherd's pie, but the family favorite (including that of our 8-year old) is the beef pot pie with puff crust. These are staples in the menus, but Rose also offers very interesting and delicious changing items every week. Really does taste like the best of home cooking, and servings are generous. Baby back ribs, potato salad and corn bread dinner kept two of going for two days. (We weren't wild about the "Southern Greens," which seemed to be collard greens, but were glad to give them a try.)
