If I could leave this business negative stars I would. Please, do not bring your wedding dress (or…read moreany business) to Oak's. They will absolutely destroy your dress. It has taken me so long to post this review as my dealings with this business was mildly abusive. The destruction was performed by this business between the dates of November 12th, 2021 and December 13th, 2021. On December 13th, 2021 I picked up my dress from this business and went home to discover my wedding dress destroyed. The most egregious offense this business performed on my bridal gown was the "hemming." Oak's proceeded to unevenly cut the bottom of my gown with what looked like scissors, the process butchering the appliques and delicate lace of the dress, thoroughly destroying the elegant design and creative spirit of my wedding gown. This business left a fraying, ugly, destroyed hem once this process was complete. Among other infractions this tailor decided to take the sides in through the zipper of the dress making it too tight to wear and ruining the back of the dress while also leaving the sides too large. The bustle that was attached to my dress was incorrectly placed. The bustle was also ugly, noticeable, comprised of cheap plastic buttons. The buttons proceeded to break when the weight of the train was placed on them (the train was actually very light, but actually that shouldn't matter as bustles are meant for trains). When I tried on my "tailored" wedding dress the sides were bowing away from my body, the bodice unfit and my breast completely unsupported. This tailor left the bodice's underwire ill placed on the top of my chest. Oak's did not fit the dress to my bosom at all. This business also happened to misplace the cut hem of my dress in a box of scraps that I had to come retrieve off their premises on December 17th , 2021. Industry standard states I am to be given back any part of my wedding gown that had happened to be removed. On February 17th , 2022 my husband visited this business to explain the situation and he asked to be reimbursed. This business not only refused to reimburse him, the lack of communication was so terrible here he was continually repeating himself and couldn't get a response and another employee came over and threatened to call the police on him if he didn't leave??? Even though my husband was calm the whole time he was attempting a conversation. Let me explain why I did not return my dress to Oak's services to be "fixed". I unfortunately received a recommendation to use Oak's services in the tailoring of my wedding gown, so I proceeded to visit Oak's and have my measurements taken. Having never been to a tailor before I had no idea what to expect, so I thought the lack of communication during my session was to be expected. I was told that my tailor would know everything. I was never even asked my name nor did the two people there introduce themselves to me. After one hour of my measurements being taken, as I was paying, I inquired as to when my next appointment would be and was met with nothing but quizzical looks. As industry standard states, when tailoring a wedding dress expect about three appointments before picking up a gown. After receiving no answer, I inquired as to when my gown would be done as no one had mentioned anything about a pickup date nor did they write on my ticket when to expect the dress to be done. I thought this was all normal. After understanding they said I could come back in January, I left. Again, my "tailor would know everything." After a month of hearing nothing from "my" tailor, with only 7 weeks remaining until my wedding (and 6 weeks being normal to tailor a gown) I found out my dress had been botched and the tailor difficult to communicate with, I was in a panic. Due to my now husbands' job, he had no time for the wedding. I was planning everything myself. After taking some time to gather my thoughts and evaluating my dress, speaking to those in the industry and my seamstress friends, I did go in to speak to Oak's. About two days after picking up my dress, I needed to retrieve my cut fabric (which I discovered had been thrown into a pile of /scraps/). I explained that my dress hem had been cut, I needed it back and tried to explain about what had happened, but I got nowhere. The man just stared at me with no expression on his face, near tears I had to leave. I thankfully retrieved my lace. If I had brought my dress in AGAIN, there wasn't going to be understanding on what happened to it or on what needed to happen in order to repair my dress. I wouldn't have had a dress to wear if they had touched my dress again. Now from my perspective, I've never even held a conversation with these people even though I've tried, they never volunteered their names, I couldn't get a follow up appointment or a real pick-up date then my dress came back unwearable. Came here for a simple hem on a pair of trousers. The turnaround was less than a week and cost $25,…read morewhich seemed a bit high but whatever. The service was a bit gruff as others have noted, but the work looks fine and it's one of the few tailors (not dry cleaners) in the area.
