I pulled up and noticed the Texas landmark. Samuel Rhoads Fisher built this home for his family in 1832. Such a beautiful house and cool that they reused all the original items as they can. Lots of photos of the past. If you enjoy history or appreciate it you will love this place. Peggy and Rik were wonderful hosts. I felt like home here and they made sure everyone was comfortable. Peggy gave us a tour of the house along with the history. Amazing stuff here!!! I love how each room had a theme and she was very detailed in her decorations. We stayed upstairs in room 3. The room was cozy and the bathroom was very clean. Love the little touches to the message and booklets in the room to help you enjoy the area. They even made a home cooked meal for breakfast. The breakfast was delicious. The conversations with other guests added to our enjoyment. The bed was so comfortable that we both slept well. My only complaint was that the room had a window A/C unit which was loud and woke me up multiple times throughout the night. It could also have used a TV but aside from that it was a great place to stay and the view out the front door which is directly across from the water was beautiful. I would definitely recommend it for a place to stay.

We spoke briefly and were given the key to The Fern Room, a map, and recommendations on places to grab a bite of dinner. The Fern Room was very comfortable with a couple of beds and cooled nicely with a window unit. There is a small kitchen with microwave, mini fridge, dishes, etc. The bathroom is small but that is to be expected in such an old building. Everything was very clean and all our needs were met. We were very pleased with the accommodations. Breakfast was served at 8:30 a.m. We didn't know what she had in store for us, but it turned out to be a delicious breakfast served with fresh fruit! Kathy was very pleasant to talk to and its fascinating to hear her stories about sailing abroad and running the B&B. We enjoyed our brief time at the B&B, but look forward to going back and making more fun memories!

The venue itself is stunning, beautifully maintained, and you can immediately tell this is a family-run venue that takes incredible pride in their property, buildings, and service. From the very beginning, the entire team was friendly, accommodating, and so easy to work with. One of the things we loved most was that they have two separate houses on the property -- one for the bride and one for the groom -- and both were spacious and comfortable, which was something we struggled to find at other venues. The venue package itself included so much: tables, linens, water goblets, plates, silverware, and chargers, along with the option for either an indoor or outdoor reception space. They do require the use of their in-house caterer, bartender, and security team, but honestly, that ended up being one of the biggest positives. The menu selection was great, the food was delicious and reasonably priced, and our guests could not stop talking about how good the drinks were all night long. Leading up to the wedding, they were incredibly flexible and accommodating, which made planning so much easier and less stressful. They even allowed us to bring everything over the day before the wedding, which made a huge difference because we were able to focus on getting ready and actually enjoying our day. Unfortunately, it rained on our wedding day, so we ultimately had to move our reception indoors. The team was so patient while we watched the weather and decided what to do. We made the final decision only about an hour before the ceremony, and they moved incredibly fast to completely transform the indoor space so our coordinators could come in and finish decorating. They handled everything calmly and professionally during what could have been a very stressful situation. What stood out most to us throughout the entire day was how accommodating and attentive the team was. No matter what was happening, they made us feel supported, reassured, and genuinely cared for. They were always nearby if we needed something, consistently checking in, and doing everything they could to make sure the day went smoothly so we could truly enjoy every moment. The team at Oak Tree Manor truly made us feel cared for every step of the way. Their kindness, professionalism, flexibility, and attention to detail helped make our wedding day absolutely perfect, and we are so grateful for them.
