    Sea breeze suite

What a great place! The hosts were lovely and the breakfasts were delicious. We stayed in the sea breeze suite, which was a little duplex at the back of the property. We will definitely be back!

    The Peacful Pelican indeed.

So I practiced my French with a native Parisian family, entertained a couple from Croatia (and their Houston buds) by playing piano & singing in the front parlor, and sat on the roof every night overlooking the bay and listening to the dogs of Palacios. Yeah, kind of surreal. Add on top of that Edith, who is a great combination of hostess and ambassador for the town, and you have an experience that's just a wee bit out of the ordinary. For starters, Palacios (pronounced: pah-LASS-yes) is a quaint, unspoiled town that is probably going to get destroyed at some point by unscrupulous developers who prey on the locally well-meaning but unprepared town council. For the moment, it's a throwback beach community that should be experienced before it's turned into stack-a-shack land. And this is an awesome place from which to check it out. Edith came here from Cleveland (via Houston and then Seattle, if I remember correctly), and it's a good guess she made a lot of lifestyle changes to get to this point. She's not just running a B&B, she's running a history lesson, a retreat, and a social outreach. She knows the area, and she knows how to entertain and make you feel welcome. We were originally going to stay in one of the 2nd floor rooms, but when we saw the 3rd story suite with the access to the rooftop, we were sold. The tub with the champagne bubbles was interesting, but being hot tub owners, we might not have been as enamored as others might be. (And it was loud.) But the bed we chose was very comfortable, and the windows in all directions gave a spacious feel to a pretty darn spacious place. And yes...having a piano in the front room that was open to play and entertain....well, I hope that we made some Croatians feel a wee bit better about America than perhaps they might have otherwise.

We arrived and had detailed instructions on what to do. That was very helpful. We stayed about 4 days on the top floor with access to the top deck above. There was a fire pit out front with chairs. A greenhouse. And lots of cats around they care for. So if you habe an allergy just let that be known. We all love cats so that was a plus for us at least. The room was beautiful. It had Plenty of windows to look from. It had table with chairs a small fridge and microwave. No T.V. but if you wanted to watch T.V. really no need to be there then. Kinda defeats the purpose. The air conditioning in that room can get very cold. Which personally we loved. The house was always cool anyway. The claw foot bath tub and walk in shower was a great touch. There were games to play. Plenty of electrical outlets as well. We were definitely comfortable. Now the breakfast was AMAZING!! Paula and Esmeralda are the kindest people. And terrific hosts and cooks. The food was delicious. They waited on you better than any restaurant I've been to. They also sold mugs, homemade jam, soaps, ect. They really cared for their visitors. I had a party of 6 and we all loved our stay there. We still talk about it till this day. Made great memories. We will be going back for sure. Thank you Peaceful Pelican.

Palacios is a hidden treasure and Peaceful Pelican is the crown jewel. Where Victorian elegance meets southern hospitality.

Palacios was an unexpected treat. The Peaceful Pelican staff helped me in every way and fed me a hearty and delicious breakfast. The facility is kept sparkling clean and renovated. My expectations were exceeded and I found a great new vacation spot with wildlife, history, culture, friendly faces, peaceful waters and GREAT Vietnamese food.

Absolutely loved The Peaceful Pelican! The house was beautiful and our room was very comfortable with a gorgeous view. All rooms have private baths. Out hostess, Paula was knowledgeable and friendly. The bay is right across the street, great for walking and relaxing. I would love to return.

Kickin back on the front porch.

They don't even have a HEB or Walmart in the city. I like to compare cities that way in Texas lol! My coworker raved about the beach here so I wanted to check it out. I pulled up and noticed the Texas landmark. Samuel Rhoads Fisher built this home for his family in 1832. Such a beautiful house and cool that they reused all the original items as they can. Lots of photos of the past. If you enjoy history or appreciate it you will love this place. Peggy and Rik were wonderful hosts. I felt like home here and they made sure everyone was comfortable. Peggy gave us a tour of the house along with the history. Amazing stuff here!!! I love how each room had a theme and she was very detailed in her decorations. We stayed upstairs in room 3. The room was cozy and the bathroom was very clean. Love the little touches to the message and booklets in the room to help you enjoy the area. They even made a home cooked meal for breakfast. It was so good. Loved my stay here thanks to them.

The owners were so sweet and gracious! We spent the first night in the downstairs master. The bed was huge and comfy! I was thrilled to see that the ac in the house was powered by window ac units! I could die, I love love love Window units! I always sleep so well in rooms that have them. The room was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. On our second night we moved to a room upstairs, this room was considerably smaller but still really comfortable and nice. We had a great nights sleep, and we awoke to a amazing breakfast! They served us coffee, juice, a beautiful fruit bowl and eggs Benedict. Now, y'all know I am picky about my eggs! These eggs were poached to perfection. Breakfast service was elegant and a feast for our taste buds. One of the owners gave us a detailed history of the area and of the house while we ate our beautiful breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Angel Rose , we will visit again soon. As of now, they are making plans to continue the restoration and to make several upgrades. They are in talks to add an elevator, two extra suites and a sunroom. Upon arrival we asked about any ghost or haunting stories, the owner informed us they may or may not have a friendly ghost! I am happy to report that not only did we not see any ghost, but we also did not experience any paranormal activity! Enjoy your stay and enjoy the surrounding amenities in Rockport!

Paranormal Activity Cut Our Visit Short!…read more We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend at Belle Oaks and were drawn in by the charming photos and description. But from the moment we arrived, it was clear that--while still beautiful--the inn was showing signs of wear, a faded echo of its restored glory from 20 years ago. What we liked: The property retains a nostalgic charm, with antiques adorning every corner. The hosts greeted us warmly and shared a bit of the inn's history. To their credit, they did warn us that the older electrical circuits might cause occasional flickering lights. What we didn't expect: Lights turning on and off by themselves. The television powering on in the middle of the night. Bed sheets being pulled off us while we slept. Feeling as if I was being touched and it wasn't my husband. The paranormal energy was far more intense than we'd anticipated--and ultimately, we decided to cut our trip short. Other concerns: The pool was dirty, and while breakfast was tasty, it was surprisingly sparse. As someone who's stayed in many bed and breakfasts, this was the first time I've encountered a buffet-style setup with no table settings, no water service, and a limited selection. We left both hungry and unnerved. Speaking with locals we learned that stories abound about hauntings in Gonzales.
