My only complaint was that the room had a window A/C unit which was loud and woke me up multiple times throughout the night. It could also have used a TV but aside from that it was a great place to stay and the view out the front door which is directly across from the water was beautiful. I would definitely recommend it for a place to stay.

They don't even have a HEB or Walmart in the city. I like to compare cities that way in Texas lol! My coworker raved about the beach here so I wanted to check it out. I pulled up and noticed the Texas landmark. Samuel Rhoads Fisher built this home for his family in 1832. Such a beautiful house and cool that they reused all the original items as they can. Lots of photos of the past. If you enjoy history or appreciate it you will love this place. Peggy and Rik were wonderful hosts. I felt like home here and they made sure everyone was comfortable. Peggy gave us a tour of the house along with the history. Amazing stuff here!!! I love how each room had a theme and she was very detailed in her decorations. We stayed upstairs in room 3. The room was cozy and the bathroom was very clean. Love the little touches to the message and booklets in the room to help you enjoy the area. They even made a home cooked meal for breakfast. The owners were so sweet and gracious! We spent the first night in the downstairs master. The bed was huge and comfy! I was thrilled to see that the ac in the house was powered by window ac units! I could die, I love love love Window units! I always sleep so well in rooms that have them. The room was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. On our second night we moved to a room upstairs, this room was considerably smaller but still really comfortable and nice. We had a great nights sleep, and we awoke to a amazing breakfast! They served us coffee, juice, a beautiful fruit bowl and eggs Benedict. Now, y'all know I am picky about my eggs! These eggs were poached to perfection. Breakfast service was elegant and a feast for our taste buds. One of the owners gave us a detailed history of the area and of the house while we ate our beautiful breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Angel Rose , we will visit again soon. As of now, they are making plans to continue the restoration and to make several upgrades. They are in talks to add an elevator, two extra suites and a sunroom. Upon arrival we asked about any ghost or haunting stories, the owner informed us they may or may not have a friendly ghost! But from the moment we arrived, it was clear that--while still beautiful--the inn was showing signs of wear, a faded echo of its restored glory from 20 years ago. What we liked: The property retains a nostalgic charm, with antiques adorning every corner. The hosts greeted us warmly and shared a bit of the inn's history. To their credit, they did warn us that the older electrical circuits might cause occasional flickering lights. What we didn't expect: Lights turning on and off by themselves. The television powering on in the middle of the night. Bed sheets being pulled off us while we slept. Feeling as if I was being touched and it wasn't my husband. The paranormal energy was far more intense than we'd anticipated--and ultimately, we decided to cut our trip short. Other concerns: The pool was dirty, and while breakfast was tasty, it was surprisingly sparse. As someone who's stayed in many bed and breakfasts, this was the first time I've encountered a buffet-style setup with no table settings, no water service, and a limited selection. We left both hungry and unnerved. Speaking with locals we learned that stories abound about hauntings in Gonzales.
