Mainstreet's standards have clearly fallen, and this visit was unacceptable from start to finish…read more We came in after bingo yesterday (Saturday) and the service was poor. Bartenders appeared disengaged and exhausted, and the lack of professionalism was obvious. A busy earlier rush is not an excuse for subpar service afterward. The food quality has also taken a serious hit. Everything was dry and poorly prepared, to the point that it raises legitimate concerns about management oversight or changes in food sourcing. This was not the quality we've experienced in the past. The most unacceptable moment occurred when another patron misplaced his chair while getting pull tabs, and a bartender asked my husband and me if we took it. That was an inappropriate and uncomfortable accusation that should never happen to paying customers. Between declining food quality, unprofessional service, and mishandled customer interactions, this establishment is no longer meeting even basic expectations. We're taking it out of our rotation. Until major changes are made, I would not recommend this place and would strongly advise others to spend their time and money elsewhere

The JAWS pinball machine was hard to activate, but after bringing it quarters to eat it was ready. There is also a digital golf game next to it. The service is good - people are nice. It's what you would expect for a Midwest bowling ally and bar/eatery. The eating area is very spacious so you have plenty of places to sit. The menu has an overwhelming amount of choices, but when you are drinking it becomes more of an exciting fun house to navigate. I thought that may mean the food would be average, but it was DANG delicious bar food. We got the BLT that is stacked with bacon and it is definitely one of the best BLTs I've had in a while. Crunchy tots. Big parking lot. Free parking.

However, the entire patio is smoker friendly, so there was cigarette smoke smell that wafted throughout the entire meal. When we initially sat down the entire table was covered in cigarette ashes and a full ashtray, but they cleaned that up before our food came. (After we asked two wait staff) Service was slow and we did not get drink refills during our meal. The food was good and on our appetizers (potato skins, and garlic cheese bread) they did not skimp on the cheese as both were covered in delicious melted mozzarella. Pricing was very fair for the amount of food we received as well. TL:DR- good food at a good price, but sub par service and a Smokey patio

After checking out the menu online, we met for a Sunday lunch having no idea what to expect. In the end, we all agreed we'd go back. We were well- greeted (and served) by Deb who was happy to walk us through the good-sized menu and favorites. Our drinks arrived quickly as did our food orders (food runner Dakota was polite and interested in assisting us...a nice change vs. the typical "hit and run" style found in so many other restaurants). I had the Reuben (with a side of broccoli, see photo) while others had the stroganoff, a salad, and Patty Melt. All arrived at the right temperature and appeared fresh. So, this was a good find. The restaurant and restrooms were clean, staff was helpful and they offer live music, bingo and other sidelights on a regular basis. Don't drive past...give it a try.

We came here as a group after work and most of us were out of town. The place has good happy hour specials including half off for yummy cheese curds and Brussels sprouts with honey glaze. They were so yummy I ordered them twice for our table. This hungry vegetarian was very happy. We stayed longer than expected to play the right rounds of bingo though no one from our team won. Cumbers is that place and I'm so glad I ventured out to Edina to try them out. The food is so comforting and reminds me of home cooked meals after school as a kid. The restaurant itself is very relaxing with minimal decoration or signage which I appreciated. The menu includes hot foods on a rotating schedule as well as a salad bar with plenty of fresh toppings and dressings to choose from. While we were there, I had lemon chicken, oven roasted turkey, spinach risotto, chicken bruschetta soup, sourdough, and the best sweet potatoes I have ever had. I feel like Q. Cumbers is also unique in that you don't have to worry about whether or not your nutritional needs are being met as they seem to prioritize balance between protein sources, carbs, vegetables, fruit, etc. They also offer low-fat soft serve for a treat afterwards with various toppings to choose from. Another highlight is their large selection of teas for a post-meal beverage with both caffeinated and uncaffeinated options. Overall, I would recommend Q. Cumbers to anyone who misses a time where you didn't have to worry about planning and cooking a nutritious meal every night. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and I am looking forward to coming back on another day of the week to try some more of their options!

We arrived around 400 PM and were quickly greeted and seated. Our waitress was friendly and a fantastic waitress. We had onion rings appetizer, wife had a Jucy Lucy, and I had a steak sandwich. She had a Miller Lite draft and I had a Budweiser draft. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. Portion sizes were strong. Waitress couldn't have been nicer and either the manager/owner stopped by three different times and talked to us about a repeat customer program they have in place. A very nice guy. This is definitely a locals favorite but we were welcomed in! There isn't anything fancy about the Cardinal Tavern but if you are looking for good food in a friendly environment, stop by. So here we are, 38th and Hiawatha. Not a lot has changed over the years, except maybe more selections on tap. walking in from the corner door takes you into a dimly light bar with enough to seat about 10 to 12 patrons. You will also notice there is tons of seating options in the bar and into the second room. Further back you will find the game room with a bunch of pool tables and a couple dart boards for the gaming folks. The vibe in here is typical neighborhood bar, it is relaxed, the patrons are just your regular easy going folks, and you can easily chat up folks here...maybe discover a new drinking buddy! We came in to do a little day drinking, play some pull-tabs and eat some food. First and foremost, winning a couple hundred in pull-tabs already makes this a fun place to hang...actually it would have been fun regardless. The food fare is your standard bar food, however they do serve breakfast, and the entrees I saw people woofing down, I'd hit this place up for breakfast. We opted to order the pork tenderloin and the sour cream and onion burger. Both were served on toast; the tenderloin on whole wheat with pickles and onions (you need to ask for onions) with a sizable breaded tenderloin. If you want a side I.e. coleslaw, cottage cheese, tots, French fries you need to order with your sandwich. The burger served on pumpernickel had fried onions on it with the sour cream. If I lived on the south side, I'd certainly make this my second home.

I came to Carmine's around 7 PM for the first time and was immediately told that they were full and…read morethat I couldn't be seated. What made the experience confusing was that I could see several empty tables, so I politely asked for clarification. I was then told there was an event happening, but there was no indication of an event, nor was I given any explanation about how that affected seating. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was seeing other people being welcomed in afterward without seemingly being informed that the restaurant was "full" or that an event was taking place. (Neither of which stated they were there for the event, and was seated at two of the empty tables.) I want to be careful about making assumptions about anyone's intentions, but as a diverse customer, the interaction left me feeling unwelcome and questioning whether I was being treated differently because of how I looked. There was no clear explanation, no alternative offered, and ultimately no opportunity for me to even experience the restaurant as a first-time customer. (Attempted to come back another day, was told the same thing, and was advised I could have beer, but no food or cocktails @ 6pm. Simply just left and gave up on this place.) I understand that businesses can have private events, capacity limitations, or other reasons for turning customers away. The issue was the lack of transparency and the way the situation was handled. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, mine was that I wasn't wanted there. The location itself seemed like it could be a nice place, which is why the experience was disappointing. I hope management takes a closer look at how situations like this are communicated and how all customers are made to feel welcome. (If that matters.)
