I used to love going to buffets as a kid, but as an adult I have struggled to find a place that could balance variety with quality. Q. Cumbers is that place and I'm so glad I ventured out to Edina to try them out. The food is so comforting and reminds me of home cooked meals after school as a kid. The restaurant itself is very relaxing with minimal decoration or signage which I appreciated. The menu includes hot foods on a rotating schedule as well as a salad bar with plenty of fresh toppings and dressings to choose from. While we were there, I had lemon chicken, oven roasted turkey, spinach risotto, chicken bruschetta soup, sourdough, and the best sweet potatoes I have ever had. I feel like Q. Cumbers is also unique in that you don't have to worry about whether or not your nutritional needs are being met as they seem to prioritize balance between protein sources, carbs, vegetables, fruit, etc. They also offer low-fat soft serve for a treat afterwards with various toppings to choose from. Another highlight is their large selection of teas for a post-meal beverage with both caffeinated and uncaffeinated options. Overall, I would recommend Q. Cumbers to anyone who misses a time where you didn't have to worry about planning and cooking a nutritious meal every night. I'm rating Q Cumbers 3/5 because, overall, I felt like it was just average. The staff was nice and friendly, and our French-speaking waitress was very kind. But there is definitely room for improvement. We went for lunch on a Monday. It was busier than I expected, but not overwhelming. My understanding is that they have fewer hot items at lunch compared to dinner. That said, most of the buffet was salad options. There were lots of dressings and toppings, which is great if you love salads and want to mix and match. But for me, I like meat and hot items, so I was disappointed by the lack of those options. The majority of the buffet space really is just for salads. I do wish the staff had asked if we had dined there before. We had not, so it was a little confusing. For example, we didn't know they had trays, so we just grabbed plates until we noticed everyone else carrying trays around. I also wasn't sure if I was supposed to get a new tray each trip or reuse the same one, so I just brought my old one back up. We also didn't know if we were supposed to wait for a waiter or waitress to greet us before going up to the buffet. We just got up, and our waitress introduced herself while we were awkwardly walking toward the buffet. Again, she was very nice. The process was just unclear for first-timers. As for the food itself, most of what I had was either just okay or not something I really loved. There were a few great items, though. The Adobo Chicken for tacos was delicious. The cookies were great too. They tasted like the old Subway cookies, which I mean as a big compliment. The Chicken Teriyaki was also good. The ambiance is really nice. There are windows EVERYWHERE! The place seemed pretty clean, which is especially important for a buffet. The bathrooms are outdated, but fine. The ice cream was good, and I liked that they had hot fudge available. The soups, pizza, a pasta I had, breadsticks, and several other items I tried were just not great. A lot of it felt like something I could make better at home. And for the cost, I feel like I could get something better somewhere else. It was about $20 per person for lunch, which isn't terrible, but also isn't great for what was offered. One thing that confused us (yet again) was tipping. You pay beforehand, and there does not seem to be an option to tip the waitress with a card. We also weren't really waited on much (it's a buffet, so you do most of the "work"), but she did get us waters and cleared our plates, so we left a few dollars in cash. If we hadn't had cash on us, we would not have been able to leave anything. Maybe they don't expect people to tip, but again, it was just another confusing part of the experience. One thing I appreciated was that they had gloves available to use when dishing up food. That was nice, especially if you are concerned about germs or contamination. Overall, I would not seek this place out again. We probably won't be back unless someone in our friend or family group really wants to try it. If I did go back, I would probably only go for dinner and hope there are more hot options and tastier items. Who is this place for? I think it is geared more toward families and groups. The buffet bars are constantly being wiped down, there is ample parking, and the building is surrounded by windows for natural light. It is a great location to take a walk after full bellies. Theres lots of different options - salad bar, hot bar, soup bar, dessert bar with plenty of choices like fresh fruit cut, jello, pudding, and soft serve. The cookies and pizza are closer to the ovens. Pro tip- you can ask for a baked potato. All the staff is friendly and they come around often to collect your finished plates. read more

The attention to cleanliness here is top notch. Sanitizer, gloves, of course the sneeze guard, and constant wiping by the staff is on full display. Parking is never an issue, nice view of centennial, and wifi is rock solid. Salad bar is intricate and full of variety. Staff is friendly and prompt. Location is easily accessible. Now, coke rather than pepsi would be better. The soups don't have consistent taste (sometimes to salty, sometimes no flavor). Watermelon also is not consistently flavorful. One sit down toilet in the bathroom at a buffet? C'mon now, the bathroom lines can get long and already the bathroom real estate is tiny. Finally, what's up with replacing the Oreo cookie crumbles with some generic, disgusting, "cookie" chocolate knockoff? It is a slap in the face to their (limited) dessert. We had a very unpleasant interaction with someone who later claimed to be the manager. She approached our table without introducing herself, was not wearing a name tag, and appeared to us as just another guest dining there. Because of that, we told her that if there was a complaint or issue, she could let one of the employees know and they could address us directly. Her approach and communication came across as unprofessional, especially since she initially spoke to us as if she were another guest rather than staff management. Only afterward did she state, "I'm the manager here." She later stated her name was Kara. We explained that there was no way for us to know she was the manager, as she did not properly identify herself. The entire interaction left a bad taste in our mouths and ruined our dinner for the night. It could have been handled much better. Whatever complaint she had became very small compared to how poor the customer service experience turned out to be. The waiters were great, but her interaction was horrible. Personally, I would not want someone handling customers in that manner running my business. This was our second time visiting. We had no issues at all during our first visit, which made this experience even more disappointing. We believe some coaching on professionalism and proper identification, including wearing a name tag and introducing herself appropriately, would be beneficial. Q Cucumbers is a very nice buffet style restaurant - 4 stars. I just went to Cucumbers for the first time. I had a family member who was discharged from Southdale hospital after 2 days of fasting. Obviously, he was famished and he requested Cucumbers buffet before driving home since he was extremely hungry. I felt a little stupid though. I consider myself a foodie but I can't believe they've been around for over 30 years and I've never visited. DECOR: The first thing I noticed is the restaurant is unique and quite beautiful. They have a stand-alone building in the Galleria area. The design is, basically, a big circle, like a giant circus tent. The walls are all glass and a big portion of the roof is glass. So the entire restaurant is very bright, cheery, and light colored. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The second thing I noticed was the excellent customer service. The people at the host stand were great. And the woman who bussed our table was excellent. I also chatted with a couple other staff. All of them had outstanding customer service skills. CLEANLINESS: I checked out the entire restaurant and the restrooms before we left. The cleanliness appears to be excellent at Cucumbers. FOOD: Cucumbers is definitely a step up from other buffets I've tried out through the years. Everything is bright, fresh, well stocked, and well organized. They also have a bakery that makes many of their own pastries, bread, and pizza. And all of the soups are made in-house. Very impressive for a buffet! If you arrive for dinner M thru F, Saturday, or Sunday brunch, you'll have many more yummy food selections. LOW CARBOHYDRATE: I was pretty disappointed trying to eat low-carb, keto, carnovore style at Cucumbers. Of course, I'm not a dummy so I suspected this was the case. I mean the name is Cucumbers, right? Duh! But it was worse than I thought. For lunch, the only meats on offer were pulled pork, baked chicken legs, and a pork carnitas thing that I skipped because I suspected seed oils and other possible offending ingredients in the sauce. If you're carnivore, make sure you only visit for dinner or on a weekend to get beef, eggs, and some other animal product offerings. You'll do a lot better with the Cucumbers menu if you're keto. Of course, this is the perfect place to eat if you're a vegan or vegetarian. All-in-all, I wouldn't go back again because of my restrictive diet unless it was Sunday Brunch. We came in at 7:20p, on Sat, 11/29/25. Waited for a cashier to pay before being seated. Someone came at 7:25p, a guy in a T shirt and checked us in, (time stamped on our receipt 7:25p), we paid $91. At 7:35 the same guy, I think he was the manager, came to our table and asked, is anyone going back to the salad bar? I said, I will be going back to get this item and pointed to one thing on my plate. No one else at our table wanted to go to the salad bar a second time. Someone at the table said we paid full price, we've never been asked if we're going "back" to a buffet. Why are you rushing us, we haven't finished our salad even. The guy in the T shirt said we want to shut down the salad bar. The sign at the front says last seating is 7:30p. Someone from our table said, we know that, we saw the sign, we were here at 7:20 and the sign didn't say we shut down part of the buffet 55 minutes early, it's 7:35. The guy in the T shirt said in a louder voice, ok we'll keep the whole salad bar open for 1 person. All the tables around us heard. Never been asked if I was going back to a buffet a second time, and I have been to many buffets from DisneyWorld to Las Vegas. We used to LOVE this place. Anniversaries, Birthdays, Mother's Day, etc., we were there. BUT the clientele has changed and some of the people let their kids run wild without any supervision. They run through the place and mess up the food (especially where the desserts) and are just wild and mom and dad (usually on their phones talking VERY loudly) do absolutely nothing. It is a problem when you yourself are walking thru with your tray full of food. Pricing is high for what you get, and this buffet/ salad bar is not what it used to be. For $20 a person, food was just ok. Everything was cooked appropriately and the facility was mostly clean, but it was noisy, dated, and food was bland. Service was slow but there were 10-15 employees in sight throughout the afternoon. Tables and booths were not promptly cleared, while 4-5 young employees clustered at the hostess table. It just seemed disorganized and unprofessional. We had all eaten an entire plate of food before we were offered water. I used to love this restaurant so I was excited to revisit and share it with my family...but I felt bad for hyping it up once we got there. I hope they can revitalize this restaurant, update the interior, and boost their food quality and uniqueness. With thousands of exceptional options in the area, they need to step up their game. Overall this place is pretty good! LOVED the huge salad bar. So many fresh and healthy options. The hot bar's quality was a little poor, but still pretty good. Some of the fruit was a little hard and cut too large (same with tomatoes). The staff was really great with clearing plates quickly and keeping the serving areas stocked and clean. My main three complaints are that they absolutely need to put out more napkins. I shouldn't have to ask for extras at a buffet. Also, although it was nice to see the place being cleaned, some of the staff who were cleaning were a little rude and would sometimes clean right where I was, making me move instead of just waiting until I was finished. My last complaint is that they really lack in the baked goods/dessert area. The only baked good they had was chocolate chip cookies. Have been wanting to visit here for a while and my husband and I finally were able too the day after Christmas. When we pulled up it didn't look like much from the outside, as it's apart of a strip business/mall and is located on the very end of the business segment. Walking inside we found there was a couple reserving space for 27 people. Luckily it was just my hubby and I for a table of two, so we were seated right away. I'm sure this place gets busy so reservations for larger groups especially would make sense. I loved how it was old-school in the food approach. From the cafeteria style trays to the line buffets, I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this restaurant. Everything was so fresh and staff was doing a good job of keeping everything clean. Lots of choices - from soup to salad to a hot bar and even desert section. All at a very affordable price. Will definitely be back here again soon and especially appreciated the owner working right alongside the staff. He also checked my husband and I in at the cashier desk and seated us. This St Paul girl made her way over to Edina to meet family for my first experience at Q Cumbers. Aside from some challenges with road construction I arrived to join in the Sunday Brunch service. First let me say how impressed I was with the quietness of the restaurant. Plenty of people, but still easy to hold table conversations. I also appreciated the cleanliness of all the buffet stations. Staff was always wiping up spills and picking up dirty dishes from our table. Food was generally very good. The lone exception was the breakfast cheesy potato's. Unfortunately they were overly salted. Hopefully, this was an anomaly. There are multiple buffets to choose from: salad bar, hot food bar, bread bar (the 9 yr old in our party gravitated to the pizza), and dessert bar. Please check their website for a list of brunch and lunch/dinner items. The buffets are extensive and can change daily. Our ice cream loving family loved the dessert offerings. One party member even created their own root beer float. Pricing was very reasonable for the quality and abundance of food. Wonderful choices for Vegetarians and carnivores alike. read more

First, we were shocked to find that Q Cumbers was still open. We shop at the Whole Foods diagonally across the parking lot from it, and have never looked over to see if the restaurant was still there. We were killing time before attending a screening and it came up on a search of nearby places to eat. We drove over, thinking that Maps was probably wrong. We were surprised and delighted to learn that we were not misled. We parked and went inside. It was PACKED. Do not come here with a large party on a Sunday, if you want to not wait a long time. Fortunately, our party of two was seated within 20 minutes. After getting seated and giving our serve the drink order, we headed to the salad bar. I was DELIGHTED to see that they had disposable gloves you can use so that you're not touching the serving utensils with your bare hands. This was the first buffet we went to since the pandemic began, so this was a great thing to see. I truly appreciate Q Cumbers providing this. I had realized that I didn't take my hand sanitizer with me when I switched bags. The salad bar was full of fresh veg and my favorite Peppercorn Ranch dressing. I mix it with a bit of Bleu Cheese dressing. The hot bar had one of the most tender pot roasts I've ever eaten, along with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. The broccoli was perfectly cooked and not at all mushy. The bright green color further signified that the vegetable hadn't been killed in the cooking process. While I feel happy about this restaurant being open, there is one drawback: It is family friendly. We avoid places that encourage people to bring their children. So, our visits will be limited to when we can gauge that there will be little to no children present. My children have eaten here years ago, as it is a cost-effective way to dine out as a family. I just don't want to be around children since mine are no longer little. If you're in the area, have a "throwback" dining experience and get your grub on at Q Cumbers. read more

Q Cumbers kinda feels like visiting grandma at the home and going to lunch with her at the included buffet. It's a pretty good sized salad bar, but definitely not the best I've seen. They also have a hot bar of different foods depending on the day you go. These hot foods can be hit or miss. There's a pizza bar with 2 or 3 varieties, coffee, tea, and a dessert area that's basically just soft serve with lots of toppings, fruit, and the best thing here: the chocolate chip cookies. The last couple of times we've gone, it was around 20 bucks a person, which seems high for what you get. If you haven't been there it's a restaurant In Edina that boasts the largest salad buffet in Minnesota. But that's really not sitting some things that need make UT quite different. What can I say, it's a big salad bar with some additional offerings outside of the typical "salad". There are typically some version of pizza with a small amount of taco-type fixins (meats, cheese, salsa, etc.) and very tasty homemade soups, a small smattering of desserts, etc. If you're looking for fresh salads - this is a great place to go. That said, I can't provide 5 stars due to a couple personal grievances. I'm allergic to dairy - and the dressing options are woefully inadequate for me. A homemade honey mustard would go a long way as would a Asian/Sesame dressing of some sort. As it stands, I can choose from French, Italian or Oil/Vinegar. Ugh. Due to my intolerance, I'm also woefully disappointed in the sloppiness of other patrons who drop strands of cheese or dollops of sour cream on top of the nearby tomatoes and salsa -- which pollutes that entire area for someone like me. It would seem that, isolating the dairy ingredients into their own area/section, so they pollute each other, and not everything else, would be an easy solution. Food sensitivity labeling was also lacking, so certain items that MAY be dairy-free, weren't labeled, so I had to avoid them. Like the Broccoli salad - which is probably made with Mayo (non-dairy), but it wasn't labeled, so I could try it. Then...there's the price. It's probably fair for big eaters, but for my 18yo daughter, who scarcely eats a plate full, yet pays for an adult price (same price paid by a 300lb football player who eats 6 plates) -- that just isn't fair. Not sure how they deal with that, but I always feel like I'm subsidizing other eaters. That all said, this is one of the best salad bars in the entire Twin Cities area. The competition is scarce as this sort of dining seems to be an after-thought for most restaurants, so I continue to support QCumbers whenever we're in the area - and hope that others do as well. read more

Not the place to go to if you're a carnivore; precious few dishes contain ANY meat, and if they do, it's usually chicken. Granted, with a name like Q Cumbers, one can easily assume it's mostly vegetarian, but it's damn near 100%. Of course, with that kind of fare, it also attracts large numbers of Subaru-driving, mad-at-the-world, bitter women with their white, professor-bearded househusbands in tow, which makes the largely unappetizing fare even more so. read more

It's very nice that there's a buffet that encourages healthy eating through action, rather than through self-promotion. They have four types of lettuce and many toppings and dressings, including several types of vinaigrette. But there's much more: soups, bread, hot foods, cookies (thin and chewy and crispy), soft serve I've cream, fresh fruits and hot and cold beverages, so you don't necessarily have to eat healthy, you $_-(-_%**!! I've been going here for years! The salad bar is phenomenal. So many great choices. Soups, pizza, bread and their hot bar are all pretty good too. The hot bar food is meh, never anything really good. I always fill up on salad and a bowl of soup! They have a great selection of fresh fruit and don't forget some frozen yogurt for dessert! Make sure to get a punch card, although they won't combine lunch cards so don't forget yours at home and have to start a new one because they will NOT combine them and are kind of rude about it. While there are some good options on the hot bar it is limited and the flavors can be a bit mild which might be ideal for the older clients that frequent the restaurant.
