Went to lunch at Q.Cumbers this week. Have you been to Q.Cumbers before? It's time to come back. Have never been to Q.Cumbers and want an all-you-can-eat buffet? You've come to the right place. Half of our party arrived before noon on a weekday. The other half arrived around 12:30. It was filled with customers but not crowded despite being a lovely sunny day. Servers brought us ice water. Then we started with the salad bar. If you like salad this really is the best "Salad Bar" in town. One thing I really appreciate about Q.Cumbers is that they separate into bowls the iceberg, romaine, spring greens and spinach. You can customize your lettuce instead of a "spring greens roulette". All of the greens were fresh and crisp. They have a variety of salad dressings and toppings that include gluten free and dairy free dressings and toppings. It's important to remember at Q.Cumbers - they truly have gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options for salad, entrees, soups, a gluten free pizza, dessert, etc. If you have a member of your dining party that has dietary issues like gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian or vegan, Q.Cumbers has something for everyone. Even kids who are picky eaters. The entrees rotate daily with different lunch and dinner choices depending on the day. They serve unlimited coffee. For dessert it's really all about the frozen yogurt. They have vanilla and chocolate soft serve frozen yogurt that you dish up yourself. There are a variety of toppings including hot fudge, hot caramel, peanuts, sprinkles, and to top it off with a cherry when available. Chocolate chip cookies seem to be such a favorite they have a sign reminding people you gave to our the cookies in your belly or pay for extras at the front desk. If you need a gluten free dessert it's mostly about fruit with fresh pineapple as my suggested choice. Our server was there at the beginning and then we didn't see her until halfway through. We had a slightly larger party and had many plates. They did eventually come. If our party was any larger I would have needed to find someone. Full disclosure: I have been a customer since Q.Cumbers first opened in the first year. I don't live in the area so I don't dine there very often but it was suggested by an older family member and I was delighted as I had not been in possibly years. I used to come here a lot, when I lived and worked closer to this area. I saw that they had just gone through a remodel, so I decided to take a drive and fill up on some all-you-can-eat goodness. I quickly remembered why I used to come in a lot; other than it being a quality buffet at a very respectable price, I really, really like their salad bar. It's a very nice spread, replete with heaps of beautiful, fresh veggies alongside equally well-presented fixin's and a cool array of customizable dressing options. I tried out quite a few items on this visit, including baked chicken, pasta in a light tomato-based vegetarian sauce, pizza by the slice, and tacos. All of it was excellent; the taco bar included fajita-style chicken and beef that tasted great. Per the sign by that section, I requested soft corn tortillas from a nearby cook, and he heated them up on the grill for me. They were delicious, but very thin. I recommend requesting two for each taco you want. I really liked that pizza. Nice crust, tasty sauce. I was told they sometimes have a chicken Alfredo pizza as an option; I'll have to come back for that. I filled up so much on salad and entrees that I didn't have anything from their fresh fruit or ice cream bars. Looked great, though! I don't know where you fall on the topic of "servers at a buffet", but I think Q. Cumbers does it right. The staff circulates busily, making sure you have water and that your table is tidied up promptly, and being available for questions without seeming to jockey for tips. Olivia had all that under control, and the whole restaurant was immaculate. So, I definitely see myself coming back here, especially when I'm in the neighborhood. But frankly, I suspect I'll want to return even if it's not that convenient. If you're hungry, then dude seriously this place so has you covered. read more

Calling all salad, ice cream, soup, and, well, buffet lovers! Q Cumbers in a can't miss! Lunch Buffet was about $13 a person on a weekday which is darn good for what you get. The lunch buffet included the following: Full salad bar with 4 kinds of greens and TONS of toppings, 4 types of specialty salad, 4+ soups, desserts, pizza, a hot bar with meats, pasta, and other buffet classics, a fruit bar, coffee, pop, bread, and a self-serve make your own Sundae bar. Did I make ya hungry, there? If so, my apologies, but In that case go fill up at this place and see for yourself what I'm sayin'. Absolutely rocked the food, and excellent service as well. The dining experience was nice too, it didn't feel cheap, but actually had an atmosphere that was semi-formal. 5/5, go check out Q Cumbers the next chance ya get! Food Suggestions: Red Wine Vinegar and Balsamic were my favorites on the greens, along with cottage cheese. We used to live in MN and this was one of our go to places when our kids were younger. They have remodeled and changed a few things - yes I miss the hot bacon dressing! Food was good as always is both on the hot bar and the salad bar. Going back here was like we had never left the Twin Cities even though we have been gone nine years. When I lived in Denver, I frequented a place called Sweet Tomatoes. In other metro areas, its called Souplantation. This is as close as the MSP metro area gets to these establishments. There's plenty for everyone, even if you don't personally care for salad. The pizza options are fairly simple, but are passable and most kids wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I was disappointed in the small prepared salad selection; their online menu has many listed but they only offer four on a given day. Based on that online menu, it seems the menu is fixed and if you like two different salads (or soups, entrees, etc.), you'll never get them on the same day. I personally wish they'd mix it up a little bit. The staff was friendly and the open-air style decor inside is inviting. They also have a take-out option where you can pay by the pound. read more

I never knew "Q" existed until earlier and wanted to give it a try on a perfect Minnesota spring afternoon. Upon entering I was surprised at the scope of the place; high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows some of which providing views of the Centennial Lakes waterway, paths and golf "courses." The greeting was pleasant and professional. and different from other reviewer's experiences, I found the staff to be pleasant and friendly. Many other customers were exactly opposite as they obviously had no understanding of common courtesies in a buffet setting (Do you understand the concept of waiting your turn, idiots?!) or in a restaurant (Next time you visit a restaurant, consider putting your unruly kids on a leash or leave them outside to fend for themselves, ok?). Anyway...with those pleasantries aside, the experience was fine. The selections in the salad section were well maintained but nothing unusual or outstanding. Cold items were cold and hot items (pretty limited and including a variety of pizzas and soups) were hot. My table's predominant reaction to the food was "bland" which makes sense when considering the profile of customers; not a few of which were mature. Soft Serve ice cream was definitely the most popular dessert and the variety of toppings was a favorite with big eaters of all ages. So, Q Cumbers is a comfortable setting serving no surprise items in a clean, well maintained environment. When weather allows, consider taking a stroll at the adjacent Centennial Lakes "attraction" to enjoy some people watching and maybe even a paddleboat ride before heading home for a nap. read more

Really impressed with the salad bar, very fresh and very clean, lots of options. The ice cream was a fun treat with unique toppings. It was fairly busy when we went but it didn't feel too crowded. We have been coming to Q Cumbers for close to 15 years for my son's birthday. For the first time, the service was absolutely horrible. We had a larger group, all family, and they insisted to charge a service fee, so we chose to split up. Then they insisted that we be put intentionally on different sides of the restaurant. My son(who's in his 20's) said he wanted to check this place out. We were greeted kindly and escorted to our table. The wait staff was courteous and quick to see to our needs. We must have looked like we were new to the place because at every turn people were offering us "tips" on how to get the best experience out of the buffet. One female customer even stopped by our table, asked if it was our first time, and told us that we should make an awesome banana split from the desert bar. What a friendly place! As for the food, it was pleasant enough. My son laughed while we were standing at the buffet and said, "You know what this reminds me of? My college cafeteria ". He enjoyed the baked chicken and the variety of potatoes. I went to the soup selection and tried one of each. The food was fine, and I recommend it if you need to fill the belly of a hungry boy. It wouldn't be my favorite choice though (maybe I'm not a buffet kind of girl). Don't get me wrong it was decent, but the food was nothing special. We are glad we went and had the experience, but we won't be adding it to our regular stops. BadMonkey and Gorilla Man have been coming to Qcumbers for the last 5 years on the regular basis of eating there twice a month. The buffet includes incredible salad bar of every item you could imagine to put on your salad and then there is the hot bar where you can find : veggies,pasta,mashed potatoes, main entrees for meat eaters and vegetarians, fresh fruit bar, and my favorite is the make your own sundae bar which includes soft serve ice cream, hot fudge sauce,camel hot sauce,strawberry sance, and toppings such as spinkles,nuts etc. Also the customer services is incredible from the moment you walk in the door and until you finish your meal. read more

First-time last night, a party of eight. Nice atmosphere, but other than salad the hot food was limited, lacked flavor, was dry, and not very hot. Cooked carrots were undercooked, mashed potatoes are instant, soups were watered down lacking flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. We (three of us) had lunch today at Cucumbers and it was not good at all. The quality-taste of the food has really went downhill. The salad bar (dry Coleslaw mixture, Mac n Tuna Salda with barely any tuna in and flat tasting, chicken flat tasting, taco bar with no taco meat nor shells. Just ate here last night around 5:15 pm. It was horrible!!!! Everything was old and cold, when we asked if there would be fresh pizza they told us NOT until we ate the pizza that was out. It was so old the cheese was hard as a rock and stale crust!! Cookies burnt, french fries were cold, chicken lazagne had been out forever. Chicken and fish were both stale and cold. Vegtables were totally black and limp. Literally looked like all the food was left over from lunch 4 hours earlier. We will never go back. I have finally found my favorite restaurant! Q Cumbers is an amazing buffet at a great price! The salad bar has so many options, and everything is very fresh and delicious. The hot food bar has a good menu each day, and is very tasty. The roast beef is so tender and delicious. If you love cooked veggies like I do, you will appreciate their selection. Try the vegetarian pizza, it is amazing! The dessert bar is not very extensive, but who needs dessert when you are stuffed from all that yummy food? Also, the staff is very friendly and kind. The food was very good, if you could get to it. For disabled people it was almost impossible to get to the salad bar or anything else. Even the mall was inaccessible. We took Metro Mobility and the parking lot was full of signs saying passenger cars only. Our driver had to leave us on the outer edge of the parking lot and we had to walk all the way in. All of us have a very hard time walking. I was almost too tired to eat. I won't be back. read more

I love coming here for lunch! There's never a wait during lunch on the weekdays. It's great natural lighting inside from all the windows facing centennial lakes. It's a buffet style salad bar, soups, hot foods (tacos, potato's, pasta), fruits, and ice cream. It's focus is more on the soup and salad though, so it's not like an old country buffet with a ton of different foods. Their salad bar is so good though and has unlimited toppings and lettuce to choose from. They also have a lot of dressings and vinaigrettes, but the one weird thing ive noticed is that they don't carry light dressings. My mom brings her own. Was craving for soup and salad today. Paid $12.25 for all you can handle. Salad: most of the ingredients were fresh, while some were still defrosted in their container. The chicken were dry and cold from the salad bar. Soups: there were 4 choices: pork pazole, clam with artichoke, veggies medley, and chicken dumpling. I tried half a bowl of the pork pazole and clam artichoke. The pork pazole flavors has plenty of depth with various spice. It was diminished by too much salt. The clam artichoke, was well balanced, and yet lack clam. It was a nice experience; I was able to create a beautiful looking salad plates with various colors. It was an art masterpiece. I hesitated to put the dressing in top knowing that it would ruin the appearance. It was even tougher to eat it, but my hunger overpowered my sense of aesthetic beauty. Been coming here for many years. Real good place for soup and salad. Lots of fresh fruit and a bar with lunch and dinner items if you want more. The soup bar had different soups everyday. Today I had the chicken pot pie soup that was excellent. They are quick to bus your table. I noticed one employee has been there for many years. He is very pleasant each time. It's a much better value than the salad bar at Whole Foods. Wish they had a section of new stuff like some of the grocery stores. It's clean.
