I love the work this woman does and I too have read bad reviews about how unaccommodating she is but just call before coming to make sure she'll be there and/or clarify that you absolutely need something for a certain date and I'm sure she'll do her best. Have been a long time customer of Rose Stitch. She generally does a fair job. She is as posted above completely unorganized. I brought in four pair of paints. She lost one pair. She refused to take any blame for their loss. I suggested that perhaps she had accidentally given them to someone else with their order. She was adamant that I did not bring in four pair of pants that I only brought three. She refused to accept blame for the missing pants. She has lost a valued customer. When businesses refuse to take any responsibility for their actions it is time to move on. read more

I have been taking my clothes for alterations to Eschrat at Rose Stitch for the past 7 years. She is always friendly and chatty, and tells me exactly what she can and cannot do with the wide variety of items I take in for her to repair or alter. She's usually very creative and has helped me take in tops, trousers, jeans and jackets. She altered the dress trousers for my husband's wedding suit! This is a one-woman show, so on occasion if she is sick or injured the store has been closed when I've been by to pick something up, but if she knows something is critical or urgent she has always pre-made arrangements with me for pick up. Eschrat does good work and we're lucky to have her providing her accessible and straightforward alternations service in Denman Place Mall! read more

The best prices I could find in town, and it was close so I figured I'd try it out for a few minor alterations. She was amazing - great work; couldn't be done better. This is my new tailor for everything. If you're wealthy and don't live nearby maybe you should go somewhere else but otherwise I can't think of one reason to go elsewhere. read more

A MAGICIAN is all I can say. She is straight up front with you with what can or can't be done. I always love the "under promise...over deliver" style of customer service. I have always been amazed with the final outcome of her work. Very good to very fair prices. She seems to do a lot of work and is open 6 days a week. So don't expect her to stop everything to rush an order for you (which she may do). Just give her the time to do the job right. LOVE that it is close to me. Saved my favourite jeans over 6 times. If I could give Zero Stars to this Business I would. I've had work done here before. It's always been mediocre at best. This time I dropped off pants. She did not give me any receipt saying she would remember me. I would agree with another review that you are lucky to find her there. She is extremely disorganized. She lost my pants. Never apologized. Saying my pants were probably old. Then started screaming at me. Saying things like "Who would want your old pants"? Isn't this the nature of this business? Rose does a good enough job, but she is completely unreliable. I went to pick up my item that I told her I needed for the weekend (it is a long weekend too), and her shop is closed. She never mentioned yesterday that she'd be closed today. The guys at the photo store next door to her shop told me that I was the fifth customer to arrive today needing an item for the weekend that she said would be ready. Very, very rude. I thought she might be having a bad day or I had said something to offend her, but now that I've read other comments I can see that this is how she does business. From the way she responded to me you would think that she has enough customers and doesn't want anymore. Took my business elsewhere. This place does not have regular hours - even though they are posted. Beware if you need something on time. Both repairs I have had done over the last year have been slapdash at best. The latest pair of pants - the expander joint was sewn shut. She refused to fix saying she did not do it. "That is not my sewing!" Maybe if she wasn't on the phone so much and paid some attention to her work it might be better. Both times I have paid, the sale was not wrung through the register and no receipt was given even when requested, It was not receipt or no clothes. There are better places close by. read more

I've come here a few times because she's close and prices are reasonable. Work is fine but my main complaint is more than once I've arrived here during her regular business hours only to find her shop locked up and no-one there. I have been very pleased with Rose Stitch. The seamstress is straight forward if an alteration cannot be done. Another positive factor is that she has explained that some garments should just not be altered - at all. If the customer insists she may still oblige them- after giving a strong caution. As an owner-operator she is in her little booth 35 plus hours per week, therefore I neither begrudge her to speak to her family or friends nor have lunch as well. She has saved countless pairs of overpriced Nudie jeans from becoming rubbish! Cheers! read more

She is a one woman show, charges fairly, advises you what she can and can't do, try's her best to accommodate your time frame, but most importantly does good work. You won't find her machine stitches wobbling all over the place. read more

I have had a few garments altered at this store, and have to say the service is unprofessional, irresponsible, and unreliable. Previously, there was already once when I went to pick up my garment on the agreed date, only to be told it wasn't ready yet. This time, I went there last Monday at 5:42pm, and the store was already closed even though the business hour is supposed to be from 10-6. There was no notice apologizing for inconveniencing the customers or even why it was closed early, so another customer and I were left hanging. I had to go back again last Wednesday to drop off the garment, and was told it would be ready this Monday. When I went back Monday at 4pm, again it was not ready, and the seamstress told me she was busy and couldn't get it done on time, and didn't even bother to call me to let me know in advance. I went back again today and even called yesterday afternoon to make sure the garment will be ready, and was assured that it was. When I got there, the hem was shortened but the straps weren't, like they were supposed to be. So I had to make 4 trips to get a garment altered instead of the 2 that should have taken, and it was not even done correctly. And instead of taking responsibility and apologizing, the seamstress kept making excuses like how she had so much to do and was so busy and didn't know what she was doing, like it's ok to promise something she can't deliver, it's not her job to have an accurate estimate of her working time, it's ok to take on more jobs than she can handle, it's ok to be disorganized and forget what the customers needed for the alterations, and it's ok to not notify the customers when she can't meet the deadline. And when I said I could not stay longer for her to finally fix the straps then because I had to get to work, she was like oh I said I'm going to do it for you right now but you say no; that's not the problem the hem was the problem, etc. like it was the customer's fault that she didn't do her job properly. I definitely would not recommend this business and I'm certainly not going back. read more

This business fits well into the area, No Frills, Seniors Centre, etc. You get what you've paid for. If you need something more complicated than a simple hemming, or patch work, go somewhere else. Also, do not expect that the store is open all 7 or 8 hours. There is only one employee - the owner, and she has to take breaks from time to time. The rules are quite relaxed as well as the pricing. For the same or similar work, I paid as twice as much as my husband. So, ask for a quote upfront. There is also a room for negotiation, if you are up to it. read more

This sweet lady is a gem. I have been taking my stuff to her for years now. She is fantastic. I have read the other reviews on her and am quite shocked. I find her to be pleasant and very accommodating. So what if the shop is closed for a little bit and she isn't there. Are we not allowed bathroom or coffee breaks?
