My dog is a bit skittish around new people; Dr. Simon immediately sat down on the floor and coaxed him over. She found that my pup had bladder stones, something our prior vet never even checked for, nor discussed the possibility with us. They said he had "crystals." It turned out he had a massive group of bladder stones that were irritating him. She also suggested cold laser therapy for his joints. She has made a huge improvement in his quality of life, it is amazing the improvement we've seen in him. I would trust any pet I have with Northvale Vet.

Saturday my cat was dying, and they did everything that they could to save him but his body was to weak and he died. Let me tell you the heartbreak at that moment I felt they felt it too. They loved my cat even though they barely knew him, they cried with me and did not rush me out and let me take as long as I wanted to say goodbye to him. They have paw prints mold they made us with some of his hair and whiskers so we can always have a piece of him with us. If you are looking for a Veterinarian that will love your fur baby as their own and will do anything to help them, please PLEASE go to Dr. Stephanie and her team. Thank you for being amazing!

Needed to visit a new doctor for my pup (well, she's no longer a pup but will always be in my eyes)…read morebecause my previous doc (Suffern Animal Hospital) kept ignoring a very clearly infected area on my dog. The facility is very nice and clean. Welcoming, for sure. The front desk ladies were nice. The doctor and his assistant were fantastic with handling my dog (she's quite anxious as well). For the first time, I didn't see her put up a fight! This visit was much cheaper than my previous doctor visits at her old doctor. Not only that but the doc explained everything as he was examining her. I was happy when he gave me things to help treat Venus' infection instead of just saying it's "normal" and nothing to worry about. I'm glad I trusted my gut. Can't wait to visit again in a few weeks!

I was very disappointed and even angered with my experience at this veterinary practice. The…read morecommunication felt rude and dismissive, and I did not feel that my concerns were treated with compassion or respect. I was quoted a specific price for the services and dropped my pet off. When I returned to pick them up I got a much higher invoice. I referred to that quote, and I was told that THEY provided was incorrect and was completely expected to pay the higher cost. When I asked the practice to honor the quote I had received, the conversation became argumentative and, from my perspective, quite unpleasant. What started as a simple pricing discrepancy got ugly, and I felt that instead of acknowledging the situation and trying to resolve it, I was being blamed for it. All the while I was waiting for them to give me back my pet after their procedure. For the years I went to this practice- I also felt pressured to proceed only according to the practice's exact terms, without meaningful consideration of my concerns. The interaction left me feeling that there was very little empathy or understanding for the owners concerns or perspectives. Because of the complete lack of empathy, professionalism, and clear communication I experienced, I would not return to this practice. I encourage others to carefully consider these factors before choosing this veterinary office.

The most caring, kindest, and honest grooming team I've ever met!…read more I was looking to get the family maltese groomed because she's been very long overdue. My family couldn't take her due to the pandemic, her regular groomer going on vacation, and other reasons. She basically had covid hair: long, tangled, and overgrown around her paws. It was very easy to set up an appointment with them by phone call. They'll text you the address, how to get into the house, and will also follow up and remind you of your appointment. You also need to send them records of your dog's vaccinations for the safety of your dog + the other dogs there. Again due to the pandemic, my family also wasn't able to get our dog out to the vet for her annual check-up and booster shots. So I had to reschedule to get her vaccinated first. Jan and her team were so accommodating! They squeezed us in to fit with my schedule. Because Jan's house is actually a house located in a residential area with the business side being accessed by the back gate near the garage, I would recommend parking on the street in front or nearby to get in and out easily. I did see some customers park in her driveway for quick drop offs, but I wanted more time to be able to talk with Jan for our dog's first grooming experience with her. All staff are masked and Jan's house is very clean. I did not feel unsafe at all going into her house. Jan was so gentle and listened to our family's requests about how we would like to get our dog groomed. She explained that she would need to trim shorter due the mats that formed from the longer fur. Mats can be painful to dogs and damaging to their skin, so I appreciated that she kindly explained this to us. Not only that, she explained that some dogs may feel "shy" or "naked" if they haven't been groomed for a long time. Our dog was actually okay and didn't have problems with having less fur, but I still like that she let us know what to possibly expect. They'll give you an estimate of when the dog grooming should be done. They'll also text you about 15-20 minutes before your dog will be ready for pick up. Jan also honestly told us and texted us photo proof that our dog had some preexisting problems: irritated skin and paws and a possible ear infection. She also gave us advice on what to do with family members who love to over feed the dog. Our dog definitely put on weight during the pandemic and my family loves to show love with food. Jan is very knowledgeable and told us what she think might have been the problem with the family dog's paw and skin irritation: my family was not rinsing our dog's fur fully, so leftover shampoo residue ended up irritating her skin. She suggested we mix the dog shampoo with water first to dilute it and then bathe our dog. Not once did I ever feel judged about the state of our dog. Instead she gave us advice in the kindest tone and most caring manner. You could tell that she and her team really love dogs and have tons of experience. I would highly recommend Jan's Dog House!
