That said... I can not say enough good things about our agent, Ken McClarty. He is an incredibly nice guy who really dug into finding a home for us based on our needs, and was extremely diligent and available throughout the entire process, always making sure our questions were answered, our expectations were set properly, our house hunting needs were being met, and our fears were laid to rest. We ended up on the other side of a rather brief and painless search with a fantastic home in Gresham that is in an absolutely perfect location for me, my wife, and our two year old son. Ken took care of all the legwork, as far as finding the perfect home, scheduling the inspections, negotiating with the seller, and closing the deal, and in the end our purchase ended up right within our budget. We could not be happier, and we will soon get around to giving Ken a proper thank you for all of his fantastic help. I would highly recommend Ken to anyone looking for a home in the Portland area. His service was top notch in every way. Thanks Ken!

I can't believe how responsive he has been. I had a TON of questions throughout the process and never was I made me feel like I was a burden on him in any way. He calmly walked us through complex documents. He gave us opinions when we needed it but always told us what was our decision and what options we had. Put it this way, we had an offer on our house in 4 days. Our neighbor described the day of our open house as a "crazy circus" because so many people were there. I have no idea how he did it, but over 60 people came through a 2 hour open house. We are thrilled with the service, professionalism and help everyone at the Caplener Group has given us. I'll recommend them to anyone.

Everything seemed really great BEFORE I had tenants, there was lots of open communication, she explained everything. I felt like we were partners. But then as soon as I had people interested in the house, I had NO INFORMATION given to me about any of the financials. I was not privy to their lease agreement, the amount of the deposit, anything. I was also not given any information about when payments would be disbursed until I reached out and asked. This didn't feel like transparency. I was finally given my first payment 12 days after tenants moved into my house. I received a very small fraction of what they paid on move in. This was expected! Expensive, but expected. What was not expected was the re-key fee that Best Life charged me. I left complete sets of keys, there was no need to charge me the rekey. This shouldn't have been a big deal, but I received nothing but defensive communication in response. No apology. She offered to remove the fee but didn't apologize, when I explained why I was frustrated she FIRED ME. That was it. I would have loved for this to be a great experience with no hidden fees--this business advertises pricing transparency--but instead, on my very first disbursement there was a hidden fee. Disappointing to say the least. ALL I NEEDED WAS AN APOLOGY, INSTEAD SHE FIRED ME. I have no idea what will happen to my poor tenants.

We can not recommend Friday and Company enough…read more My husband and I spent half of 2023 moving: first, selling our previous house, then moving to an apartment for a few months, and then finding our new home. When we started looking at houses, we began by going to open houses ourselves. We were able to identify aspects of houses that we liked or wanted to stay away from, but we spent a lot of time seeing places that ultimately weren't right for us. On top of that, the state of the market and economy really didn't help make any decisioning making easy! We first met Calle and Nicole when we went to visit a house that we thought looked great but would not work out for us due to our timeline constraints. They were handling the sale of that house, and we were really impressed with the quality, design, and presentation of it. Once we knew it was time to really start looking for our next place, we reached out to them to see if they could help us out. They helped us not only find potential properties to consider, but more importantly, helped us clarify how we would about determining which houses to consider more seriously. When touring houses with Calle, he gave us many insights into things that we would have never come to realize ourselves. After seeing several places with Calle, we started to get a solid sense of what we were looking for. When we finally found the perfect home for us, he helped us navigate the making of the offer and all of the logistics that lead up to closing in such a way that it couldn't have gone much more smoothly. We write this now from our new home, and we couldn't be happier with where we ended up. I don't think we would have ended up in such a good place without Friday and Company, and we'd both encourage anyone looking to find their next spot to have them help you out!

I sold rental property in another state and made three purchases in Oregon. I dealt with more than a dozen brokers and agents, representing me and others. Jason and Ben are the best of the best, in both knowledge and customer service. Jason stands out most for his industry knowledge. He knows all the Portland neighborhoods and most of the multi-unit properties available. He has construction knowledge to strongly support your pre-inspection decision making. I made a lot of mistakes in my search for properties because I was from out of state, but once Jason got involved the process was much more focused and effective. I believe in old-fashioned customer service, which is almost impossible to find these days, but Jason supported me to the very end of the deal I did with him, even when the lender was the problem. Ben was my agent for a separate purchase, and is also rental expert. Ben works harder than almost anyone I know. At one point in my deal, he was on vacation in another country, but he still got more done for me than any other agent I've worked with. There were a lot of different types of repairs needed for a building I was buying. It could have delayed the deal by months, because local vendors were overbooked and scheduling estimates three to four weeks out. Ben found a general contractor and two other vendors to get everything done quickly. About a week before closing, a tenant made a complaint to the city. We had to make a few more fixes and get a city inspection. Ben made it happen and kept us on schedule. Buying real estate is stressful. Ben is a high-empathy person. Instead of bringing me problems, he always brought solutions. You can buy and sell rental property with general real estate agents, but I wouldn't recommend it. A rental specialist can easily get a better price for your sale and negotiate better price and terms when you're buying. I got a great property that was never listed, at a great price, because they know people in the rental industry. Rental deals are specialty deals and you need someone knowledgeable. You can't do better than Equity Pacific.
