Bad experience here and it just kept getting worse. First I booked an appt with Jess a level 5 and who specializes in short hair cuts for 12pm. I put in the notes for someone to please give me a call with her prices as they didn't show up online. Someone calls me back a couple days before my booking to confirm my appt, but nothing about pricing. They never read the notes. Then, someone calls me again the day before my appt trying to confirm it for 11:45am. So, I call back to let them know that's incorrect but it goes to voicemail and I leave a message. Day of my appt, I'm called 2 hrs before my appt not to confirm my appt is at 12pm (nope they never returned my call) but to tell me my stylist is sick and can't do my appt. Not very professional in my opinion considering they want 48hrs notice or they charge you. I understand life happens, but we all have lives with things happening. Maybe be more lenient on your cancellation policy if you can't uphold it yourself. Now, I'm frustrated as they have poor communication, get details wrong, and cancel last minute with no comparable options and no other offer to remedy this. So, they cancelled my appt less than 2hrs before my reservation. Which is ironic considering they make it very clear on their website that they will charge your card (that you have to give in order to book your time) if you decide you need to cancel within 48hrs. On top of that, they offered to reschedule me with a level 1 stylist that specializes in color and long haircuts. Not comparable AT ALL to what I originally had booked. Then they tried to book me with the same sick stylist the next morning....so you couldn't give me more than 2hrs heads up that she was sick but you're betting that she'll be all fine to cut my hair less than 24hrs from now? Nope, not risking it as I've already had to rearrange all my plans because I work a lot and this was the only day off I could do. Very disappointed in how this all went down from start to finish and would not recommend booking here. Wish I would've booked literally anywhere else as they did nothing to help other than offer me the same sick stylist who'd probably just cancel again or a stylist who isn't specialized for what I needed. read more

I was in town with my family for work, and needed my hair done- desperately. I booked a blonding/highlight service with Isabella, and she knocked it out of the park! She took her time, didn't cut corners, and was SO kind. She informed me of all services she thought I would need BEFORE starting, and had me go in with realistic expectations. The end result was much better than I was hoping for! The salon itself is adorable too, they even have a cute boutique that is very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly. Beyond that, I did NOT get the haircut (or anywhere close) to the picture I showed the girl. All I heard were excuses as to why it wouldn't work. Fell in LOVE today with my stylist Jessica! I've been looking for a hair salon for a long time. I have naturally curly hair and not many stylists are familiar with doing my hair. I'm very happy with how she did my hair! The color came out amazing!!! My favorite moment that sold me on this salon, was getting a hair mask on. During this service, they did a scalp massage and put hot towels on my head so the mask can absorb into my scalp. I've never had that happen before! It really elevated the experience for me. This salon is also a cute little boutique with many items to choose from to buy as little presents. The products they use are great for you hair. I really can't wait to come back. read more

Kaylee B is everything you could want in a regular hair stylist. She's totally no nonsense, knows what she's doing and a tremendous value. I came from SF and nobody in a 100 mile radius would touch tape in extensions from another stylist. She was "yeah no problem" just like that - so easy. I've been going regularly now for over 6 months and she always does a phenomenal job. I've gone to a lot of hair stylists over the years and so many of them treat it like it's just a "job" but not Kaylee - you can tell that it's a profession she takes seriously. The young staff was really pleasant and fun, but there was no management around to help when I had to return after a botched color job. The new, young person in charge of correction did an okay job, yet I had to sit there for 3 hours, no air conditioning, no fans, sweating... No offers of magazines or wine/water. This is one of the first times I've walked away from a haircut feeling 100% happy! The space is warm and cozy, the front of house staff is friendly and my stylist Meredith is absolutely fantastic! She listened to what I wanted, suggested a few adjustments and started cutting. After cutting off a few inches, she kindly offered to let me try the length and see if I like it, or adjust it immediately (even though she'd already gone through the process of drying it). I opted for immediate adjustment and left with the haircut of my dreams and a new stylist for as long as she'll have me! I received a bill on my credit card for January 24, and I wasn't even at the hair salon! I got a cut and color on November 9. 2019 and it was a good job by the stylist, but at $200 a pop, I cannot afford to use their services. Now they are telling my credit card company that the card was used IN PERSON on January 22. I'm holding the card as speak. I've been bouncing around trying to find a hairstylist who is good with color, knowledgeable and current with latest trends and products and having the ability to understand my hair. Rhianna was looking to build her clientele and I thought why not. This cute two level salon is located in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins and is an ideal location for a night on the town. Wash basins and restrooms on the first floor. Short wait for a rinse since they were all occupied. Had a great scalp massage and deep conditioning after my hair color. The conditioning left a lovely shine and softness and it's obvious the products were of a higher quality. I appreciate that. What could have been improved were less pressure on the scalp plus a towel secured around my neck to prevent my clothes from being soaked beyond my neckline. Made for a very uncomfortable date night. All in all, a functional service from a stylist with a lot of promise, however for a stylist starting out, the regular price might be considered on the higher side. I am a bald man so I obviously did not come to Roots Beauty Studio to get my hair styled but I can write about the great experiences I've had with the other services they offer. Amanda, the massage therapist, is fantastic. I travel a lot and, as a result, find myself sitting in airplane or car seats for hours or even at my office chair. I always feel better after experiencing a massage with Amanda. She is really skilled at alleviating the back pain I have been experiencing, really nice, a great conversationalist, and even has some massage package specials that allow you to save some money. While I may have no hair on my head, I have a surprising amount of hair everywhere else so I have had back and shoulder waxes done at Roots by both Makenna and Kara. Each did a fantastic job and showed their skill and care when waxing. With its spot in Old Town, the great vibe of the studio, and the really kind staff, Roots is definitely worth checking out! read more

I treated my daughter to get her hair done at this Salon a few weeks ago. Her beautician was great and my daughter really liked how her hair turned out. The reason I'm giving such a low rating is because when I went in to check on my girl, I noticed another beautician with her mask pulled down while working on a another person wearing no mask. I asked the girl at the front who she was and I was told she was the owner. I kept debating whether or not to write this, but I think it is important for other people to know the lack of seriousness being taken. Especially by people touching heads all day. I stopped in happenstance while trying to kill some time to get my eyebrows waxed. Was met by a friendly, upbeat staff and live music outside (it worked!). Very fun, bohemian feel to the place and they use really clean, holistic products. I returned the following week to have partial highlights and a trim and am VERY pleased with the results. Carissa did a fantastic job and was very attentive to my nitpicky request (I always ask to not have a razor when I get my hair trimmed) - her eye for color and style that works for her clients seems to come natural, not to mention great! Do not go here unless you want your hair to be permanently damaged beyond repair. The stylists are unprofessional and inexperienced, and you are guaranteed to walk out of roots wellness with broken hair, a burned scalp, and a hole in your pocket. When confronted about the issue, the stylist that burnt my hair was dishonest about what happened, and I was only given a partial refund. I will never recommend roots because even though it was only one stylist that damaged my hair, the owner was present when I went in to see what could be done to fix it and she was completely useless to either cause. My hair is broken so badly that it will take years to repair it, and it all could have been avoided if my stylist knew what she was doing. read more
