    Teresa B.

I gave 1 star because Jennifer has a super sweet smile and demeanor. Super sweet. However, from our perspective, she struggles with color and following instructions. She messed up the color and I had to repeat myself several times to get her to fix the haircut. I took my daughter there to get her hair dyed, for her 11th birthday. Jen assured is that how she was doing it, the color would definitely pop out. The color did not pop as my daughter wanted. In fact you could barely tell it was colored at all. My daughter kept asking Jennifer about using "permanent" color and for some reason, Jennifer kept steering her away from it. Our appointment was at 3:45 but they called an hour in advance to ask us if we could come in later because Jennifer was running 45 minutes late. We got there at 4:30 and left close to 7:30. Jennifer knew we weren't pleased with the color, it was obvious she didn't do what my daughter wanted, so she said she would fix it. We went in again Monday for another 3 hour visit. This time you can see the color but it's splotchy and large sections are still the natural color which makes the hair look stripey and not blended nicely. My daughter asked for the entire head to be colored except for the very thin top layer. Jennifer didn't follow direction at all. Some of the purple pieces have light spots. The color wasn't left on long enough to be absorbed so you can see the lifted blonde color showing through. A ver super terribly disappointing experience. My daughter had asked me if I could do it but I told her a salon would do a pro job. Psh... I could have saved myself 6 hours, disappointment, and $150. Maybe my daughter was right in thinking I might do a better job with a box, at home. Too expensive for what we got. Actually, I wouldn't pay $20 to walk out with messed up hair.

    Wedding hair trial with Bri

Bri did my hair for my wedding and it was AMAZING. She was fantastic to work with right from the beginning. She gave me a little gift and products to use in my hair for the big day. So sweet. She was on time the day of the wedding and did a fabulous up-do's for my mom, mother-in-law and maid of honor. We did a non-traditional style for my hair and I LOVED it. I had so many compliments as well! Plus, she's really nice and fun and easy to talk to. I would recommend her to anyone.

Apparently destroying my clothes with hair dye is only worth $20 in compensation (from the hairstylist Virginia).

Lovely salon. Didn't feel I was paying for hype. My cosmetologist was down-to-earth and updated my hair style. Thank you Crystal!

Beautiful salon and incredible stylists. Old town parking is always a pain, but it is well worth the hassle. Favorite salon in town.

I have been a regular at Namaste Salon for the past ... five? six? ... years? However, my stylist…read morethrough all those years recently decided to move to another salon in the area to shorten her commute. While I will follow her to the new salon, if I have any problems there or anything changes such that I need a new stylist I will not hesitate to come back to Namaste. I have to commend them in particular for their handling of COVID precautions throughout the pandemic. I was particularly nervous about whether it was worth the risk to get my hair done when things first started opening back up after the lockdown last spring, but decided to give it a try after talking through all of the precautions they were taking with my stylist. They were limiting the number of clients/stylists/other staff in the salon, requiring masks, doing temperature checks and waivers before you came into the salon, and asking everyone to wash their hands upon first entering the salon. I could see that they had implemented new disinfection procedures for common-use items (pens, bowls/brushes for color, maybe combs and such? There were stacks of bins with these materials by the sink ...) and were disinfecting chairs in between clients. My stylist's normal station was the one closest to the door, but she moved me to one of the upstairs stations so I wouldn't be in the high traffic area while my color was processing (generally at least 1.5 if not 2 hours). They kept up these precautions all the way through my last appointment at the end of March. I'm sure things will be getting back to normal, now that people are getting vaccinated and the state and county are easing public health restrictions, but I appreciated their commitment to doing things right -- not just the COVID precautions, but doing right by their clients, as well. Although I had already received a text from my stylist letting me know that she was moving, the salon did call me to let me know. They offered to rebook me with another stylist if I preferred, but no pressure. I know that this can be a cutthroat business -- at a previous salon I found out about my stylist pursuing other career opportunities when I showed up for an appointment and found they had "done me the favor" of rebooking me with the stylist that they just hired -- so I appreciate the way Namaste handled this. Having said all of that, I will leave you with a parking tip -- schedule your appointments for the evenings or Saturdays so you can easily park in the courthouse parking lot, which is just a block away (but from the end of May to early October make sure to schedule around the Saturday morning Farmers' Market).

My reason for 2 star is price but the biggest is that my cut was not how I exactly wanted it and left a few strands an inch longer than the rest. I called 3 days later and left a message to come get it fixed. The stylist herself never reached back out to have me come back in and fix it, the salon left me a voicemail that the stylist would call, but I never received one. Very unprofessional, I canceled my future appointment. For the amount you are paying their stylist should be made to follow through as well with better customer service.

All the…read moreemployees were very nice and welcoming; I appreciated the hot passion fruit tea prepared upon my arrival on a cool fall day. I felt seen and cared for! The layout of the Salon gave openness and harmony with earth tone, woodsy elements. I don't mind people being social and going to salons that are buzzing with music or the news, however, I found it very calming to have had my appointment almost on my own in a spacious open air salon. No disruptive screens! During the wash and conditioning at the sink, I was able to relax fully in the chair. It was so nice to sink into my locks being pampered on and soaking up all the lovely moisture and serenity of the salon .... Plus, the option of a hot neck towel? yes, please! Thank you for taking the time to help me figure out where I'm at and where I'm going with my long hair journey. I'm a happy human, especially after figuring out how to blend and style my new bangs after rocking (and growing back out) the micro bangs from earlier in the year.

When I booked, I specifically asked to be paired with someone experienced in bangs and wavy hair…read morebecause I'm really particular about how my hair is cut and styled. Whoever booked me clearly could have cared less. It became pretty clear early on that the stylist was not comfortable with bangs or working with wavy hair, or honestly hair in general and things went in the wrong direction quickly. I showed a photo of full, blended curtain bangs and said I always wear my hair styled and curled. Instead, my hair was parted straight down the middle and cut bluntly across, it honestly started to look like a bowl cut. At one point another stylist had to step in, which made me think it might be fixable, but it definitely wasn't. It made me question the level of experience overall. Even the more senior stylist made a comment along the lines of "I always cut bangs shorter because they grow back quickly," which was frustrating to hear. You don't know how someone's hair grows and she obviously didn't care how I prefer to wear it, and that kind of assumption is exactly how you end up with a result like this. What was hardest was the insincere compliments and being told it "looked like the picture," when it definitely didn't. I was in the chair for almost two hours, and it just kept getting worse. I ended up leaving mid-cut because I was honestly in tears and couldn't keep going. To their credit, they didn't charge me, but I would have paid money to have not had this happen. It's pretty devastating, especially going into my birthday weekend. I felt like I communicated really clearly upfront, which is why this was so disappointing. I just wish more care had been taken to match me with someone who actually had experience with what I was asking for, I'm just not confident that person exists at this salon. I'm just hoping I spare someone else.

I was a little…read moreconfused though because when I was there the first time, I booked for my next appointment- it was May 30ish and I booked for like August 8th... well I called THAT DAY to verify because I hadn't received any reminder text and I didn't have anything in my account portal showing that my appointment even existed. Sure enough- my stylist was out of town and my appointment did need to be rescheduled. Luckily I have the flexibility right now, otherwise I would have been pretty irritated. Ok, so now, fast forward to my 2nd appointment- and I had asked for "my roots done" and "a trim" so I'm thinking about 2 hours. It took 3. Nobody's fault - but when a salon is charging at an hourly rate- it feels awkward if your hair takes longer to process than other clients hair am I being charged to sit in this chair because my hair sucks ?! And then- I guess there is no option for booking "A TRIM" so that DOES SUCK. IMO there are two things; a hair cut- takes longer, it's a potential transformation, much more thought goes into it (hopefully) and a TRIM is TRIMMING whatever current haircut exists at that moment. No new layers- no new bangs, very brief- just the tips- snip snip snip!! Voila! Someone tell me you know what I'm talking about!?!? My biggest concern though, was this; when i went home... I'm kind of playing around with my hair... really looking to see how it looks. "Investigating" if you will, to see if my $270 ($320 with tip) was justified- because it better be mother forking perfect. Well it wasn't. I felt terrible. Because I left the salon feeling SO HAPPY!! but either way I felt terrible because it's just so uncomfortable to tell someone you were not happy with what they did for you specifically. I finally called and asked some questions about the pricing- the receptionist handled my situation perfectly- and told me that the manager would be reviewing the situation and would call me. A couple days passed and that hadn't happened... so I called again, and sent an email. THAT is when she responded stating why she never called back and it kind of felt like she was accusing me of being crazy or 'all over the place' and wrote something like we do not tolerate rude behavior and due to the unforeseen nature of your calls or something very off-putting (for not even speaking to me yet) . But finally in the end- she offered me three options. I chose the "Correction option" She then essentially replied "Great - I will do my best to accommodate as quickly as possible. Are you comfortable with the same stylist...?" I wrote - yes! absolutely- I adore her! Are you open to a phone conversation, because I feel very misunderstood. I wanted to explain (or defend) myself!!! I really felt like the situation was a BIG misunderstanding. TOO many people were in the middle of it. Anyways, I NEVER heard back after that. I followed up several times. i'm pretty sure she blocked my email!!?? I really just was hoping for my hair to be fixed ‍ I still love my stylist. She is awesome. Good person and great stylist. Sometimes stuff isn't perfect. I don't know why- But I bet- SHE would have been more than willing to have a conversation with me about it. I never got a chance to communicate with her because now, come to find out, this owner also decided to disable me from booking future appointments in their website!!!!! like REALLY???? So confused ‍ I do not know what I did. I really want my hair fixed though. Are you going to have some integrity- and be good for your word? You literally offered me a correction and then GHOSTED me. WHY? WHO does that? ‍
