We're new home owners, never had septic. Our septic backed up almost a year into owning our house and after reading up on reviews of local septic technicians, we went with Rooter Tech. They hydro-jetted the system, but told us our pipe from the house to the septic was the "wrong kind" and quoted us $1700 to dig it out and replace it. We decided to wait on that. Fast forward 9 months, and the system is backing up again. A friend who works in construction looked at it for us and said that not only was the pipe indeed for septic systems, but also there was a piece of the pipe that jutted out into the tank, and that's what was causing our system to back up. He literally just cut back the piping and it cleared up. These people were going to charge us $1700 for replacing something that didn't need to be replaced. For putting a bandaid on something that could have been easily fixed just by cutting the pipe that stuck out too far. So unethical. Would.Not.Recommend. PS- this owner is trying to say I'm lying and I'm not. There are no roots in our line, they never said anything about roots when they were at our house (much less cut them, my spouse was there the whole time) and there are no trees or bushes anywhere near the line from the house to the septic. The line WAS sticking out at the time, and it was commented on by this company. My friend cut the pipe and it fixed the situation immediately. Another septic company came out and said it looked great. It doesn't matter if this was 9 months ago, we know what was told to us, because we had sticker shock and were very worried about having to replace the line. Carlos was AMAZING, I called him late Friday night, and was expecting to leave him a message. But he answered and told him about my situation. Our bathtub won't drain and we are now in knee high water "GROSS". I told him we attempted to do ourselves and just making matters worse. Called Rooter Tech because there was a brown tint in the water when the bathroom faucet was turned on. I explained that the cold water was clear, but when the hot water was on it became brown. Immediately he told me to check the manufacture date of my water heater. It happened to turned 12 years old on the month of May, and he advised that recommended time to replace a water heater is 8-10 years. I was well overdue for a new water heater. He told me that one of his workers can be at my residence within an hour which I agreed. After the phone call, I received a call from Junior to let me know that he will be at my residence in 15 minutes. Junior and his co-worker arrived and asked to see the water heater which was in the garage. Junior recommended it needs to be replaced, and it should resolve the brown water issue. Junior was very honest by explaining that even though he replaced the water heater and if there still browning in the water that pipes in the house must be replaced which can be costly. But the first step of fixing the problem is getting a new water heater. I agreed to have it replaced and was quoted reasonably. In less than 3 hours with Junior and his co worker leaving to get the new water from the store it was installed. Needless to say I was very impressed of the hard work they put to installing the new water heater and it solved the brown water problem in my home. Came to fix leak in kitchen sink. Previous plumber put pipes back on wrong and they weren't staying attached. They came out and fixed it right away. The great: I left a voice mail at 6:00 in the morning, within an hour was called back to schedule service, and within 3 hours our toilet was unplugged. I appreciated Junior quickly diagnosing potentially larger issues and taking great time to answer all my questions and explain different options. I have never had a plumber with such care and taking so much time to explain. Could have been better: I appreciated Junior asking if we are sure nothing fell into the toilet because it could cause a mainline backup if he snaked anything down. However, the way he said it and kept saying it made it seem pushy and suspicious that he wanted to do more work of taking out the entire toilet and snaking from the bottom. Bottom Line: Rooter tech was incredibly responsive, quickly diagnosed we did not have a larger issue of a main line clog, and took the time to answer all questions that I have never had from a plumber. Just be cautious to know exactly what is going on and be firm so the plumber wanting to make sure more issues are not caused does not turn into unnecessarily spending more money. read more

They responded quickly showed up on time with all of their equipment. However the owner was uppity and defensive. I hired them because they had a camera .. $150.charge and I knew the plug was in my sewer line backyard. Not under my house. I gave him a direct access to the main sewer line. Camera went backwards and under my home they found no plug of course as I'd already told them the direction of my main sewer line but they ran the auger through my 2-in pipe anyways unnecessarily beating my pipe up then he had the nerve to charge me $700 more so they can use their little pressure washer hose to to fix what I originally hired him to unplug. I basically paid for their $400 auger mistake. I specifically told him to use the back door. They use the front door and walked in and out of my house with all of dirty equipment. They did use booties on there feet. But again this is where the owner did not listen to my original request about using the back door. They just barged in through the front door. Job 1: A sewer inspection revealed that material in the cast iron part of the sewer line had broken off and it needed to be replaced. I decided to call Rooter Tech because of their 5 star reviews on Google and Yelp. When you call, you are immediately connected to the owner, Carlos. He came the same day to do an in-person estimate and his price was unbeatable. Other companies were trying to charge me more because they said the crawlspace below the house was too low and they would need to cut a hole on the first floor of the house. Carlos brought his team and they did the work quickly and efficiently without cutting into the floor. I requested that they finish by noon because I had a meeting and he met the deadline. Carlos made sure to take pictures, explain the work that was done, and materials used. I was very impressed that they did all of this with hand shovels and on their bellies in the crawlspace! He even answered other questions I had about other plumbing issues. They cleaned up and hauled away the old pipe. I'm very lucky to have found a company that is within my budget and committed to quality. Job 2: I wanted to leave a review for the second job that Rooter Tech did on my home. My upstairs toilet was backed up and leaking. Contacted Carlos in the morning and he was there within the hour to diagnose and fix it. With his sewer scope he was able to find out that the clog was caused by pieces of tile that were in the drain pipe - likely from renovators improperly installing the toilet and tile. He expertly jetted everything out, including all of the pieces of tile, which was not easy at all. He was persistent and worked on it for a couple hours to ensure we didn't have to open up any pipes or cut through any walls. It definitely could have been a more severe problem for someone with less skill and inferior equipment. To ensure I didn't have any future issues with clogs, I got Carlos to install a Flushmate toilet as well. For the labor involved, equipment, and toilet, I believe I was given a fair price. We called late at night with a main sewer line back up and all of our drains were clogged. Carlos said he would have his guys out first thing, and at 7:30 AM, Junior and his partner showed up and got on it right away. They had the problem diagnosed right away, charged a fair price (especially for the emergency work). Their ask was considerably higher than I expected, over $10k ranging as high is $18k, depending on how much I got replaced. He was there in a true emergency, then came the next day to fix the problem.
