I must have called eight different plumbers or companies. Three would not provide free quotes or estimates, and they would have charged outrageous service call fees that one has to pay regardless of whether one accepts their quotes. Three companies offered free estimates and quotes. One quote was so ridiculously high, and when I questioned the price they described that the price included "Isolating water supply to unit by means of water main; relieving the pressure...." and the list went on and on, including a ridiculous list of normal steps for any plumbing job, including checking for proper functioning and leaks, as if these were the reason for the high costs listed on their estimates. It was a bit insulting. Petros was the last person I called, and he was refreshing. He asked for pictures of the valves in question, and before he gave me any quotes over the phone, he explained the options for repair and recommendations. He described the cost of the different types of valves (spoiler alert---they are not that expensive)--and explained his fee. No, he was not cheap, but I so appreciated the no-nonsense explanations and upfront pricing. I knew what the job was going to cost me, and exactly how much of the cost was going to materials vs. labor. Old fashion-business model and transparency that I appreciate. When he came to the house, he was friendly, efficient and professional; he explained and showed me what he did and what was wrong with the valves that were broken; and left the premises clean when he was done. He is a two-man company/team, so I cannot attest to how it would work calling him for larger jobs or emergency jobs, but I will definitely use his services again in the future.

Ryan was great, tried to keep my carpets/bathroom clean as much as possible and was patient in discussing my options and answering my questions. Surprisingly was able to get an appointment for install on Monday. Jared was also great. Definitely appreciate the small details and concerns to keep the carpet clean like hand carrying both the old and new water heater up 2 flights of stairs. Between the quick response/scheduling time, clean workmanship, and fine attention to detail, happy to say the leaking water heater experience felt less chaotic with 128's help! Total turnaround time, Friday 11pm to Monday 4pm hot water up and running!!

I called 128 Plumbing about one cracked drain pipe. I was told my entire house needed to be…read morerepiped. The estimate (#435094323) was $30,275 to demo every wall and ceiling necessary, disconnect first- and second-floor bathrooms, toilets and sinks, and replace the main stack. That was presented to me as the only option -- no alternatives, no phasing, nothing. And it did not include the roughly $6,000 I'd need to close the walls back up and reinstall fixtures, or the ~$400 roofer I'd have to hire and coordinate myself. Their own estimate puts the hole repair on the customer in writing. All in: nearly $37,000. Meanwhile my first-floor tenant was told she couldn't use her bathroom or her kitchen. When I hesitated at the number, I was told that at least if I sold the house I'd "have retail value." That's the line that made me stop and get a second opinion. Thompson Plumbing came out, found the actual leak -- old hubbed cast iron serving the kitchen -- and repiped it. $2,995. My final invoice was $3,420, and that included an unrelated frost-free silcock I added on. My toilet was fine. My kitchen sink was fine. My tenant's kitchen and bathroom were fine. Not one wall was demoed. Same house. Same leak. Ten percent of the price. I'm not going to speculate about why the two assessments were so far apart. I'll just say this: if 128 Plumbing tells you your house needs a $30,000 repipe, get a second quote before you sign anything. I nearly didn't, and it would have cost me thirty-three thousand dollars I did not need to spend.

They picked up the phone, got me in touch with service person, arrived in window they gave me, unclogged and cleaned pipes, and cleaned up and left. It's wasn't inexpensive, but I think the rate is reasonable for weekend service. I think I would've paid just about anything anyway. It was a nasty mess... I tried several local plumbers first but didn't have success getting them over to the house. I hope never to deal with such issue, but I know exactly who to call first.

I was charged for the 4 visits but then they actually waived the fee for the second visit because their first attempt failed after just 4 days. I paid them for 3 separate visits where they repeatedly ran standard mechanical snakes and high pressure jetters through the line without ever resolving the problem. According to their own technicians notes on my invoices, there are structural and physical issues with this line that standard snaking cannot fix. On the second invoice their tech noted a "vent issue" caused by roof drain's trap layout. Then, on the most recent invoice, the technician explicitly wrote that something lodged inside the trap is very hard to get by' and admitted the line 'can close up if more debris goes down.' Instead of addressing these chronic issues, they just kept snaking the line to collect the repetitive fees. Worse yet, on the final visit, the manager, Tom, explicitly stated that a diagnostic video camera inspection would be performed before any high pressure water jetting took place. When I received the invoice, there was no mention of the video inspection. When I questioned the manager, Tom about it on Friday he became extremely angry over the phone, was yelling, and claimed the video was done and would email it to me on Monday. It is now Thursday and I have received nothing from him. The only thing sent to me were 2 pictures taken by technician during their visit. One picture was of the exterior roof basket and the other picture was the top of the drain opening from the outside. I sent them both to Tom saying that was what the technician sent me. They took my money for 3 visits, failed to provide the diagnostic proof they promised, and charged me full price while knowingly leaving a hard object trapped inside the pipe that they admitted will cause it to flood again. Do not trust this company!
