My heating was acting up, having an intermittent issue starting. Taking the panel off showed…read morediagnosis codes indicated the inducer motor wasn't getting correct pressure. These motors fail over time, not a big deal. Had James out, told him it is an intermittent issue, told him about the error codes. He says it is both the inducer motor AND the control board. Suggesting that its current behavior wasn't correct. I needed this repair done fairly quickly, as I was about to go out of country on a trip and didn't want pipes freezing. James assured me he could get the parts and repair within 5 days. That did not happen. On my return I reached out to him again and he said he had the parts. He came with an apprentice, was in the attic for about an hour and they said they were all done. The heat was working. I asked if they replaced both the fan and the control board, to which he said 'yes'. I then asked for the control board, as I like playing with embedded computers, to which he then corrected himself saying that they DIDN'T install the control board. After calling him out on it he took off about 150 dollars from the 2000 dollar original quote. All in all, AICA cost me about 2000 dollars to replace an inducer motor in a heater. A part that costs a couple hundred dollars, and let's round up to 2 hours of labor. Other online estimates place it between 200-700 depending on the part. I'm fairly confident I was taken advantage of because it was winter and I needed it fixed. In the end my heat was fixed and James was nice enough, but I'm confident I over paid, and the seeming lie about replacing parts does not sit well.

He quickly diagnosed it as just needing a new wax ring and completed the fix quickly. The charge was very reasonable. I know nothing about plumbing and he very easily could have made it out to be a bigger problem in order to charge more, but was very honest about it only being a minor repair. Fast forward 2 years and this week, we had an issue with the kitchen sink getting stopped up. The second experience was similar to the first in that he responded immediately and was here the next day for the fix. He was careful to show me everything that he did, including how to easily fix it myself should the problem happen again in the future. We will need some more work done in the spring and I will not hesitate to call Sean again.

He called me within a couple hours of my message and was here the next day to diagnose the issue. Due to it being late in the day we made an appointment for him to return to do the job. Sean called the day before our appointment and gave me a heads up as to the time he'd be coming and also a change in pricing due to the price of the pump. He had hoped that we wouldn't need the pump but wanted me to be aware of cost beforehand. He also explained, he was hopeful replacing the float would do the trick. Of course we had some reservations of the work that was about to be done; hoping to not be taken advantage of at the last minute. Two women, knowing nothing about how this works and going to the internet for a plumber...We definitely had our reservations. Boy were we wrong!!! Sean came when he said he would, replaced the float and got the machine working without having to replace the very expensive pump!! This mans an honest plumber, really nice guy, helped to explain the issue, and charges fairly. He quoted me 300-350 more the night before in the event we needed a new pump! The lesser of the two wound up being the issue and he stuck to his original quote. In fact he was under his original quote by 50-100 bucks! We would absolutely recommend this plumber to others! And I'm also going to pass along his name to my family and friends. This review is the first of many I'm about to place online for him as well!! I called Boston Drain Co asking them to unclog my shower drain as well as inspect my sewer line, which I had been advised to look at in my initial home inspection. The person who came was very nice but definitely took advantage of my lack of understanding of plumbing. He could not fix my shower drain due to it having an older drum trap that needed to be replaced, which this company does not do, and I completely understood that. When I asked him to look at the sewer line he explained that the video camera only works if there is no sewer trap present. I, knowing nothing about plumbing as a new home owner, asked if there's any way to check for a trap before doing the video. He said no there is not and he implored me that this test was extremely important and it's worth the risk to have the information about if my sewer line has any issues. So I agreed. When the camera was about 3 feet into my sewer line, what do you know, there's a trap. He stands up and says "look in your sump pump hole, you can see the trap coming up out of the ground right there." And that was the extent of what I learned from the sewer line inspection. So he saw the trap poking up out of the ground but since of course I didn't know what it was he still performed a pointless sewer drain scope and charged me $475. When I called the company to request a refund they just said when the camera comes out you pay $475, end of story. So at the end of the day, my shower is still clogged and I have no idea if my sewer line is damaged. But they got their $475! I hope they enjoyed my money because it's the last penny they will see from my household.
