Emma was a great server. Food was delicious. My son said this was the best Mac n cheese (vegan) he has ever had. I tried it, it was delicious. We both had the southwestern sweet potato burger which was excellent! I had a vegan Cesar side salad (so good)! Would definitely come again! Phenomenal! The atmosphere is small cafe and a quaint book store coffee bar. It's bustling on a Sunday morning. I was thrilled to have so many Gluten Free options. I wanted to spend some time reading at a cafe and saw the 5 star review, but I walked in without much expectation. That quickly changed when the girl at the register took my order. She was very sweet and repeated my order back to me to make sure she got it right. The other staff working in the kitchen were also great, checking in to make sure I had gotten my food and drink. THE FOOD: I am not vegan nor have I eaten a lot of vegan food beforehand, however, this was the best vegan sandwich and vegan mac & cheese in my life. I honestly don't like either of those foods, so I don't know what made me order them, but thank goodness I did because I will be back for it. Please never take it off your menu! MY DRINK: Before going in, I looked up their menu online and was planning on getting their blueberry vanilla latte, but once I was in line, I noticed they had fall drink specials, so I got the log cabin chai latte instead and it was so good (just the right amount of chai). I regret not getting a larger size, but the food filled me up anyways. Food: The dragon mango smoothie is def on the creamy side of things, it's blended with some coconut so you don't really taste the mango or the dragon fruit as much, but I came to enjoy it later on as it's not an overwhelming thing to drink on. Their breakfast menu is pretty simple, I got the breakfast dip, which is actually pretty bland if you don't dip it in the sauce, which is obviously the point of it. But given that it's a sandwich, alittle more seasoning on the steak and eggs would be helpful. Service: pretty easy to navigate on the menu, if you're ordering takeout, you just have to let them know your name at the cashier to pick up the order. Ambiance: it's like a library café where you can pick any book you want to read while enjoy a nice little meal as you're studying. I'm glad they were able to expand to something bigger, and have more room to venture and look at other books. Location accommodation: well it is nice that they had expanded to somewhere where most people will come visit, when passing, parking there is not so great, it's street parking which can become very limited as there's other businesses that are also trying sharing those parking spots. read more

I was having a late breakfast at a diner across the street. I looked out the window and noticed Root and Press. I looked it up on Yelp and it said "temporarily closed". But I saw people going in and out so I decided to try it. It was open! I let the employee know about the "temporarily closed" notice on Yelp. She said that's because the old location closed down... So the Chandler Street location is OPEN. It's also a bookstore. And they have some other things like handbags, candles, tea, little gifts like that. I had a small cinnamon dolce latte and asked for one pump instead of three, it was still too sweet for me, but that's OK. Service was on the slower side, but it could've been because we went in during a busy time. I will check it out again! read more

Root & press is adorable! The interior reminds me of a cross between a diner, a book-store, and a quaint little neighborhood coffee shop. When I came in about an hour before closing time on a Sunday, the place wasn't super busy. I was instantly drawn to their book case and found myself flipping through the pages of a couple books (it looked as though they had a lot of great options!) When I finally made my way up to the front to order, I was greeted by a lovely, upbeat barista who helped me with my selection. Everyone I talked to that worked there was so warm, sociable, and in good spirits which made my visit all the more memorable. There was a cute diner style booth across from the ordering station that I relaxed into as I waited for/ received my oat milk decaf lavender traditional macchiato and guava smoothie. The macchiato I enjoyed in the cafe and it was so smooth, with a hint sweetness from the lavender. The proportion of espresso to lavender to oat milk was spot on too. It was definitely one of the best macchiatos I've had. The guava smoothie I enjoyed on the go and, while it was sweeter than I was expecting, it was very refreshing on a warm Spring day and the combination of avocado with (I believe spinach) and guava surprisingly made for a creamy, sweet, tasty beverage! GO HERE FOR THE BFAST SAMMIES! Omg!!!! My husband and I were visiting from Austin, TX for thanksgiving and it's been a long time since we've lived in MA or ate out. We were told around the corner was a cute cafe that had amazing breakfast. Naturally, i was expecting the typical wait for a small table but we walked in and got a spot immediately! The menu was extensive and more upscale! I got the vegan egg and cheese on an English muffin and hubby got the avocado melt on sour dough. When i tell you this was the THE BEST bfast sandwich I've had in a long time. You walk into a bookstore / cafe which is just a fun and unique vibe. We were instantly greeted by Matty behind the counter who was super sweet and helpful. I was pleased to see so many vegan options. I decided to go with the R&P Griddler and I was NOT disappointed. It was soooo good especially with the addition of maple syrup! It just elevated the sandwich to another level. I for sure couldn't leave without some sweet treats especially one of their vegan cinnamon buns! An amazing find of a place. Root and press is a cute little coffee shop with a bookstore inside. The ambiance is so nice and relaxing, full of great vibes and their staff are definitely the reason for it! I got a lavender London fog and a breakfast bowl and I couldn't even finish my food! To say the least, it was delicious. Their home fries were made to perfection and all of the ingredients tasted amazing. This was such an enjoyable place to have breakfast and the biggest plus, it is vegan friendly! They have a parking lot available which makes it easier to get to. The place is small but tables become available fairly quick. If you have a chance, definitely dine-in so you can enjoy this little gem read more

Worth the trip. We were in town visiting our WPI student and we're fortunate enough to find Root and Press while searching for vegan breakfast options open on Monday. The shop is a bit outside of town but is absolutely worth the drive. The bookshop is small but is highly curated. Some incredible selections. The food was amazing. We had an assortment of vegan and non vegan plates as well as some hot drinks. Everything was extremely well made and generous. They even have vegan milkshakes! If I lived anywhere near here I would be in weekly at least. If you drive there from out of town don't miss it! It is a small place without a lot of signage but has parking on the side. If you pass it the first time circle back and try again. It is worth it! read more

I've been here twice now, and have been blown away by how delicious everything was both times. The food & the drinks are always amazing. They have vegan and non-vegan options. Always check out their specials! The employees are super friendly and give great recommendations. The indoor seating is limited but when it's nice out the outdoor seating is lovely. I love love love this place. New to Worcester I did a lot of looking around for spots with vegan food. Root and Press was on my list to try, but I wasn't sure what it would be like (bookstore meets cafe during covid) so I held off a bit. That was a mistake. Their vegan menu is great for a cafe. I've loved everything I have tried. The food is tasty, plentiful and priced right. Their lattes blow away the competition. And the real winner: vegan milkshakes. I'm serious. Their book selection is awesome. You can find books from popular fiction to studies on class and genocide. I can't help but wonder who curates the selection. It's so impressive. The folks who work there are all so nice too! All in all my #1 find since moving to Worcester. read more
